COMICS: See The Very First New 52 Batmobile In BATMAN #25 Preview

We've already had one preview of Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo’s latest "Zero Year" issue, but this new one gives us a look at The Dark Knight's very first Batmobile in New 52 continuity..and it's definitely like none of Batman's rides we've seen previously!

Scott Snyder: We wanted it to be something where you’d see it and be like … “What the hell is he driving this showy car?” in a way that both said race car and almost rocket and something that a young person would make with all kinds of tricks to it and something colorful, not something black and dark, something that’s almost in your face as if daring you to catch it. …

Greg Capullo: I think, did some amazing work on it. We did a lot of drafts. … [Laughs] I actually asked FCO to try coloring it yellow with black details and bats, and it just looked so crazy that we killed it, because it looked like he was driving a bee. … We had to cut a little bit closer to convention. But we feel like we’ve done a good job. I feel like they’ve done a terrific job making something that doesn’t look like any Batmobile prior.

Ummmm….nope. Not feeling this at all. It looks like something my dad and his buddies cobbled together in his garage when he was a teenager.

Looks like a prowler, which I thought was a cool car in my younger days. I like Snyder's description to Batman's motivation on the look of the first Batmobile.

Don't quite understand what the wheel is doing in that second panel.

Those yellow lines are emblematic of the New 52 design philosophy as well, "lines and embellishments for the sake of lines and embellishments".

Why do Capulo and Snyder sound like they wrecked themselves coming up with this radical design? It's a Plymouth Prowler with a bat as a hood ornament. Hope they weren't getting paid by the hour to come up with this.

This is the point in his career when Batman decided to let Orange County Choppers design his Batmobile. Fortunately, it was also the last time he let it happen.
