Guillermo del Toro Says WB Has Plans For "The Entire DC Universe"

The Pacific Rim director, who is attached to a Justice League Dark movie, suggests that all of the recent DC announcements (not to mention a LOT of rumors) might just be the beginning. It sounds as if DC are finally getting their shared movie universe together.

We figured Warner Bros. and DC were finally getting their act together when it was announced that Batman would be making an appearance in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel sequel, but since that we've had a few very persistent rumors about the likes of Wonder Woman also popping up in that movie, as well as several tv announcements including Constantine, Hourman and The Flash. Now while talking to Cinefilos.it, director Guillermo del Toro reveals that this may all just be the tip of the iceberg, and suggests that we are looking at a huge DC rollout -- possibly encapsulating characters that make up the "entire DC universe".

"We're still on [Justice League Dark], writing, and hopefully it will happen but there are no developments that are new. We're still at Warner Bros., they are making plans for the entire DC universe. All the superheroes, all the mythologies, and part of that is Justice League Dark. They're planning on TV, movies, and all the media, so we have to fit into that plan."

But will all of these be connected? Del Toro certainly makes it sound that way. If these plans don't include The Sandman somewhere I will not be happy! Anyway, not exactly very surprising given the recent announcements but it's nice to know this is all just the beginning. Thoughts?

it would be stupid to not connot the TV and movie series. They will have two actors portraying Green Arrow, Two Flashes, two Nightwings, etc. To avoid confusion for the GA lets gets keep things coherent

So the only real issue in this is WB's ability to execute said plans.

Google Ezra Miller with short hair, perfect Nightwing. And since Ezra is gay, people can make Dick jokes.

They Better!

After Marvel won the internet last week with the whole netflix thing.

Just push Arrow, Flash and a Nightwing show and make them part of the DCCU and you're golden.

Everything else is fail.

Dinotron it hasn't been confusing in the past. You're assuming ppl who watch these movies watch the CW shows. And if that were true, wouldn't the show habe at least 3 times the normal viewers? There is nothing confusing about this unless the person is slow...

I'll believe it when I see it.

They might have "plans," but I think they'll probably wait and see how much money Batman vs. Superman makes before they invest significant capital into making those plans come to life.

You don't think that suggests that everything at least MIGHT be connected? I certainly do.

With all the focus on a Wonderwoman appearance in the next MOS film....could other character appearances be flying intentionally under the radar like Aquaman?
