This is coming from a third party so make of it what you will, but Samuel L. Jackson appeared on David Letterman's Late Show last night and the host quizzed him about the new
Star Wars movies, and whether he'd be returning. Jackson -- who played Mace Windu in the prequel trilogy and is now shooting a movie with Hamill -- reveals that he spoke to the former Luke Skywalker about it and he told him that J.J. Abrams has not been in contact with him about reprising the role (you can watch the video
Here.) Now we know that Lucasfilm were in touch with Hamill before Abrams was even announced as director; so it would seem, at least, that it was always the plan to have him return to the Luke role -- but could that have all changed when original writer Michael Arndt was replaced on script duties by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan? Even if Luke hasn't been written out, it is a little strange that the director (now writer and producer) of a movie which is scheduled to shoot pretty soon hasn't so much as had a conversation with one of its stars. Of course, another explanation is that Hamill is simply playing coy about the whole thing and didn't want to leak any info to Jackson, who not long ago blabbed about Elizabeth Olsen signing on as Scarlet Witch in
The Avengers: Age Of Ultron! What do you guys think?
