The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug hits theaters in just two weeks.

Well, in the book his name is "Smaug the Golden"..so, I'm assuming he had a gold sheen off him. Guess they went another way for the movie. Not exactly a deal breaker is it?

Oh I know that, but wasn't he called that before he settled in Erebor though? I always thought he was supposed to have a gold tint off his skin.

@JoeMomma29 That Smaug was awesome and I love that scene the man that played Smaug was great.

Personally I kinda like the design of Smaug they made but really to me it is the only good thing in a whole pile of shit that is the Hobbit movies. I hated the first movie and the second one seems to keep that track going strong.

That plane looks pretty awesome, would have been even better if Smaug's head was nearer the front of the plane.

@ Peserga44

The animated version is from the 70's, even if they adapted that look for now it just would not come off good in my opinion. Heck any designs from the 60's and 70's are hard to modernize.

Though Starwars designs still look good.

@SimyJo - and who would be able to see it? the 4 passengers with window seats by the wings? That'd be a huge money waster.

To many moving parts on the wing, I am sure it was due to safety.

Be better if his mouth was at the very front and it breathed fire. And when they eject waste, it could breathe fire.

What could it be?

"a dragon is a dragon and he dosen't look anything like Draco"

Wait, so you're saying that a dragon, being a dragon, will likely look like a dragon in the way dragons use to be depicted, but that the dragon Smaug looks nothing like the dragon Draco, despite them both being dragons and therefore looking like dragons?

I'm confused now. (*_*)'
