GOTHAM Adds Drew Powell As Villain 'Butch Gilzean'

Whozean? Don't expect a Riddler or a Black Mask - like his boss Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith), it seems this Gotham bad guy will be a new character created just for the Fox tv show. Read on for more details.

Deadline report that Drew Powell (Ponderosa, Malcolm In The Middle) has been cast in a "guest starring/recurring role" in Fox‘s Batman prequel series, Gotham. Apparently he'll be playing Butch Gilzean - a new character created for the show, and not an established DC Comics villain. According to the site Gilzean is "the deceptively clever and ambitious second-in-command to sadistic gangster boss Fish Mooney". It's always possible this guy will be an amalgamation of other lesser known characters, or have some of their attributes. Thoughts?

For all we know this show could take place in the 80s instead of being a contemporary modern piece. Butch and Fiah sound very retro when it comes to gangster names. Or, this show could just be a little hammy when it comes to te names of gangsters. Batman gangster names in the comics are a little hammy and a bit much at times.

I'd feel better about it if their names were switched.

Why do these shows need to create characters when there's probably hundreds of options to choose from, even combine characters if needed? Hate that...Probably to fulfill the ego of the writers...

Good. Stay away from the Batman villains. It's too soon for them to come into the picture

Part of me wants to see villains we know were there before Batman. Carmine Falcone, Carl Grisom, those old mobsters from Mask of the Phantasm whose names I can't remember and am too lazy to look up. Let's watch them rise up.

My dick heads down the right directi--CHUCKIE SOUL!!! THAT WAS THE NAME OF ONE OF THEM!

Also, we could see other DC characters like Morgan Edge, Bruno Manheim, Maxwell Lord. We could see a young Dan Turpin on the Gotham police force.

Slam Bradley would be nice to see working along side Gordon.

A unique character created just for the show. The should make him the greatest villain the Batman never faced since he was too young to be Batman.

Why create villains for the show?

Why not bring in Joe Chill or Carmine Falcone or Lew Moxon or Tony Zucco or the other mobsters that already exist?

Seriously Jada Plinkett Smith is playing a mob boss named Fish Mooney okay who is seriously excited about a character named Fish Mooney sounds like a mob boss from back in the Silver Age. Kinda like Babyface from Batman Brave and the Bold

or Babyface's girlfriend Mrs. Manface

Gotta watch out for Fish Mooney head of the dreaded fish head gang

Kinda reminds me of a DC version of Agents of Shield. I don't think these shows really work(comic book shows), if ur just pluking out the plain people and telling us about there lives. Comic books are for the villians and heroes. Seems to me, Gordon is just a detective and his intrest comes from his realationship with Bats, and his dealings with Gotham villians. Otherwise, its just one of a 1000 crime shows.

There is nothing exciting about any news from this show. Don't mind the created characters(would be a double standard as I love AoS), but Jada Pinkett-Smith made my interest dive-bomb. She is simply a terrible actress, and has never had any experience with a true lead role, or a villain role. And this casting doesn't excite me at all. Show might surprise me, but expectations are VERY low. And being on Fox just makes things worse.

Probably a good idea to introduce new characters and save known villains for later.
It sounds like the Agents of SHIELD game plan, though.
Interesting..

People complaining about the lack of Batman are stupid.
Rea Gotham Central, ya twats!
sure, Batman is an adult vigilante, but he rarely appears in it. This show can and WILL capture that awesomeness.
