MALEFICENT: First Good Look At Imelda Staunton, Lesley Manville & Juno Temple As The Pixies

Not the band! We've glimpsed them flying around in the trailers, but now we have our first proper look at Staunton (Harry Potter, Manville (Vera Drake) and Temple (The Dark Knight Rises) as the three pixies; 'Knotgrass', 'Flittle', and 'Thistletwit'.

From Disney comes “Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.

The film stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville. Maleficent is produced by Joe Roth and directed by Robert Stromberg, with Angelina Jolie, Don Hahn, Matt Smith, Palak Patel and Sarah Bradshaw serving as executive producers. Linda Woolverton wrote the screenplay. Maleficent opens in theaters on May 30, 2014.

That is CGI right? Is that really necessary? Just green screen the real actresses

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Well unless you know actresses that can change their body proportions magically then yes, it has to use digital technology to make them look like pixies with abnormally proportioned bodies. Otherwise they'd just appear as scaled down women like Barbie dolls.

Why are people so quick to complain about the use of digital technology in modern movies? I don't see many people going to work on horseback or taking their laundry to the local river to wash. Without digital tech you simply would not have half the Superhero movies looking the way they did let alone be filmed at all. People who cry out for FX to be the same as the old techniques they got used to seeing in their childhood really are stuck in a period, move on for crissake. I've lived through the 70's, 80's and 90's to now and FX for movies have never been better. Long may it continue to improve!

So Disney is making easily their second greatest villain behind Judge Frollo into a hero that does some bad stuff but in the end protects the kingdom. Well that sounds like shit to me that is issue with movies like this and it is going to be the same with Venom or Sinister Six they are villains staring in their own movie which means you have to make them into heroes or so sympathetic you root for them but really they aren't evil. Sure Angelina looks good and looks like Maleficent but the movie sound like complete and utter shit.

Agreed! And all movies have CGI in them now. All movies. You may not realize it, but they do.

@RetroFit: I'm not pissed off so there, they managed to make this movie without pissing everyone off. You should be happy now. They accomplished that mission. Have a cupcake! :)
