RUMOR: Holly Hunter's BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Character Revealed?

The Latino Review boys think they've sussed out who the Oscar winning actress will play in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel sequel, and contrary to initial reports, she IS an established DC Comics character..an ally of the Caped Crusader to be specific!

We recently found out that Zack Snyder's Batman VS. Superman themed sequel to Man Of Steel had gained a trio of talented new cast members: 300: Rise of an Empire's Callan Mulvey, The Wolverine's Tao Okamoto and Academy Award winning actress Holly Hunter (Always, Raising Arizona, Copycat, Thirteen..among many others). Although it was pointed out in the official press release that "all three actors will play characters newly created for the film," many feel this won't be the case, and have begun to speculate on which established DC characters they might be playing. The Latino Review lads always have their ears to the round when it comes to this type of stuff, and according to them..

"We think Holly Hunter is going to be playing Leslie Thompkins, or a Leslie Thompkins replacement character."

Batman fans will surely know who this is: In DC lore, Thomkins is a doctor who went to medical school with Bruce Wayne's dad before he was murdered, and in certain incarnations of the origin story, actually knows Bruce's secret identity and provided a shoulder for him to cry on immediately following the shootings. If this is true, it sounds like Ben Affleck's Batman will have yet another ally in this movie. LR say they haven't been able to 100% confirm this, so treat it as a rumor until we know more.

On topic, I think I remember her character from the animated series, I wouldn't have thought of Holly Hunter for that role.

This is wikipedia's definition of fabrication in journalism. Pretty sure the people at LR never read that chapter.

Fabrication
A fabrication is a lie told when someone submits a statement as truth, without knowing for certain whether or not it actually is true. Although the statement may be possible or plausible, it is not based on fact. Rather, it is something made up, or it is a misrepresentation of the truth. Examples of fabrication: A person giving directions to a tourist when the person doesn't actually know the directions. Often propaganda is fabrication.

HAILHYDRA, why don't YOU do some research and find out how much stuff they've gotten right over the years? Everyone brings up those two exact examples because they are pretty much the only two they can. This is marked as rumor, they mark it as rumor, but they're track record makes it worth reporting on.

I'd like to see Leslie in a Batmovie - she adds more layers to Bruce's character - but I don't see Holly Hunter playing her. Then again, I was down on Sally Field as Aunt May, but she was one of the better parts of Amazing...

Huh. Wikipedia says Hunter is 56. Wow. And Affleck's 41, so I guess she could've been a med student when Bruce was orphaned. Or maybe make her a young social worker.

She would be a welcoming character in a Batman movie. its about time they brought her to light. I will wait to be excited cause LR is not a reliable source.

@Ror. Being a journalist means you don't report ANYTHING based on rumor. Before the internet age, nothing was based on rumor. There have been plenty of journalist fired for less offenses than what LR has done. This trend of making up rumors to attract attention and get followers is destroying the integrity of journalism.

And when did they/we or any net blogger claim to be journalists? We report on rumors..we always have and we always will. The only sites that shy away from them are the trades and even then sometimes they make an exception. Not all rumor means "fabrication"..sources provide legit info that can and often does turn out to be true. Reporting on a completely unsubstantiated rumor from a none-reputable source is one thing, this is something else.

Well with an Oscar award winning writer taking over from Goyer, I believe in this movie....Unless he doesn't know shit about comics.

@ HailHydra

I'm not saying Latino Review is reliable by any means or not, but is that true? I don't remember them saying Avengers 2 would be World War Hulk. I remember them claiming that Hulk will go on a rampage and they will end up sending Hulk into space at the end, but not that the whole movie would be based on World War Hulk.

And lets be fair, with the pics of Hulk fighting a Hulkbuster suit, this could actually still happen.

Leslie would be an interesting addition, if this is true. Like someone already said, it adds layers to Bruce.
