Michael Bay has to one of the most shallow, misogynist directors in Hollywood. That being said I might see this just to say thank you for not having Shia Lebouf in it

@ Niklander,

I'm gonna go ahead and say yes the original series was something special. Why? 30 years later it's still here and people [obviously] still love it.

Transformers benefited from the age of commercialist cartoons . Because Hasbro just wanted to sell toys they kept cramming more characters into the show (same goes for a lot of 80's toons). Everyone has a favorite transformer(s) but for each person it's a different one. More often than not we'd all watch that show back in the day to see if Omega Supreme or the Dinobots or Soundwave (or whoever our favorite was) was gonna be on. So what transformers created was a legion of fans who liked a couple of characters but all united under one franchise. Brilliant marketing.

And the variety of characters created a richer deeper mythos on that show than we've ever seen on any subsequent Transformers series or movie (except maybe Beast Wars). These newer iterations only ever focus on 7 or 8 transformers at most. It's cause they think people are dumb. We weren't dumb in the 80's. I don't think we are now.

@beane2099

I never watched Transformers as a kid, but as a teenager I started getting into Beast Wars. In fact, I collected the toys well before I started watching the show. There were ALOT of them. It's cool that Transformers and Ninja Turtles have continued to evolve to be relevant today.
