When the
Star Wars: Episode VII cast was announced the other day, one of the surprise names on the list was former
Harry Potter alum Domhnall Gleeson. The son of the great Brendan Gleeson had already begun to make a name for himself with roles in the likes of
About Time, and a brief but chilling turn in Irish flick
Calvary, but joining the galaxy far far away is by far his biggest gig yet. While talking to Ray Darcy on Dublin radio show 2FM, the actor describes the feeling of finding out he nabbed the role just one day before he had to join his cast-mates for a table read in London.
"I'm still struggling to come to terms with it," Gleeson admitted.
"It all happened really quickly for me. It was like the day before and then I'm at a table reading with Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. It was madness but it was great." So who is Glesson playing? He's quizzed about it, and asked if he will be playing the son of Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker, but obviously he has to keep schtum.
"I'm afraid if I say anything I'll give away the plot of the whole movie. I've got two years of this ahead of me. The movie is released in December 2015 -- that's the amount of time I have to keep my mouth shut!" The popular theory is that Gleeson will indeed be playing the son of Skywalker, but I'm hearing whispers that he may actually be joining Adam Diver on the dark side! Nothing concrete, but there you go. Which side of the force do you think he'll wind up on?
