CONSTANTINE Also Gets Series Order; New Image & Synopsis Released

It's a good day to be a DC fan! Along the CW's highly anticipated Flash series, it's now been announced that NBC has picked up the small screen adaptation of the classic Vertigo comic book, Hellblazer. More past the jump.

With NBC has picking up the supernatural drama, this means all four of Warner Bros. DC pilots are going to series. Joining Constantine at NBC is Gotham at Fox and The Flash and iZombie at the CW. Constantine will star Matt Ryan as the titular foul mouthed occultist, and the pilot will be directed by Neil Marshall from a script by The Mentalist’s Daniel Cerone. David S. Goyer is producing. In addition, THR seem to have provided a lengthy synopsis for the show, explaining how the various characters tie together and much more.

Matt Ryan as Constantine and Lucy Griffiths as Liv

"Based on the wildly popular comic book series “Hellblazer” from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan, “Criminal Minds”) specializes in giving hell… hell. Armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and his wickedly naughty wit, he fights the good fight — or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he’s decided to leave his do-gooder life behind, but when demons target Liv (Lucy Griffiths, “True Blood”), the daughter of one of Constantine’s oldest friends, he’s reluctantly thrust back into the fray – and he’ll do whatever it takes to save her. Before long, it’s revealed that Liv’s “second sight” — an ability to see the worlds behind our world and predict supernatural occurrences — is a threat to a mysterious new evil that’s rising in the shadows. Now it’s not just Liv who needs protection; the angels are starting to get worried too. So, together, Constantine and Liv must use her power and his skills to travel the country, find the demons that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all."

Of everything that is coming out, movies and tv, this is one of my most anticipated. I loved the movie and this has so much potential unlike other shows where the writers clearly didn't think past season 1.

SEEMINGLY (at first glance), Matt Ryan is one of the most perfect castings in comic book history.

Well, after Christopher Reeves maybe.

@ Bluedude

Hmmmmm this looks good but yet they have not shown any footage.......

Anyways I am sure this will be very dark and gritty just like the comics.

So all these shows on competing networks, surely they'd be on different nights. Imagine this though, they throw Gotham in the same timeslot as AOS. [frick] that'd be a pissing contest.
