Stretch Armstrong Movie in the Works!

A Stretch Armstrong movie is in the works and you will never guess who is to star in the title role...

From Variety:

In an announcement Friday evening that updated the status of its Hasbro-branded tentpoles, the studio said "Stretch Armstrong" will be shot in 3D. Universal also said it's pushing back action-adventure "Battleship" from July 2011, to May 25, 2012.

"Stretch Armstrong" had been planned for an April 2011 release but U said Friday that the additional time will allow it to shoot in 3-D and accommodate Lautner's existing commitments, which include two more "Twilight" films and "Max Steel" at Paramount.

"In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office," said Uni co-chief Donna Langley. "He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power.

Osiris- I couldn't help but laugh when I read this news and just thought it would amuse my fellow friends on CBM, the movie is slated for release in 2012 giving him time to do his other roles which will include the next Twilight and Max Steel which is another action figure which was good enough to actually have it's own t.v show, unlike Stretch.

I don't get how this

Terrible, just terrible. Hollywood can waste money making movies like Stretch Armstrong with that soon-to-be-coming-out-of-the-closet wannabe werewolf dude and yet DC fans are neglected a Plastic Man movie. Insulting

If they are doing Stretch Armstrong they had better have a ROM the Space Knight in the works. I'm just saying.

Cbsmitty2 - Don't give Hollywood any ideas (you never know who could be reading!)! Isn't it bad enough that the studios are wasting money on this POS, as opposed to something DECENT?!

I had a couple of these. I had Stretch and also this alien looking villain that was clear with all these gnarly organs n stuff in it. Me and my friends got to pulling it out long on the playground and then someone RAN THROUGH IT! LOL

Eh, look at it this way, this will definitely kill whatever studio appeal people think he has. In the long run, we win! F OFF Lautner
poppianderson
poppianderson - 2/6/2010, 11:16 PM
For those of you dogging Taylor Lautner what exsactly is your problem with him? The kid is just making a career at what he enjoys doing, acting. He's done no wrong to anyone. And boo hoo if they are making a movie based on a toy. Transformers where toys from a comic book just the same and so far the movie's have been big hits and I don't see anyone dogging Shia Labeouf.

poppianderson
poppianderson - 2/6/2010, 11:39 PM
To Elbicho-

it has nothing to do with him
I think ppl should have a real reason to insult a hard working actor. The job is hard enough with tabloids making stuff up they don't need jealous fools talking shit for no reason. The kid has done nothing wrong.
1chris2
1chris2 - 2/6/2010, 11:43 PM
why would anyone make a film out of this crap?
Imran
Imran - 2/6/2010, 11:46 PM
@Poppianderson, nobody is knocking him or his success. It's just that Twilight sucks (my opinion) and he looks/is nothing like Stretch Armstrong! For example: I like Johnny Depp but if he played Captain America I'd be pissed.

I'm sure you could pick better candidates for the role yourself and as for Shia LaBeouf, he's Even Stevens. That always let's him off the hook. =P

Anyways, Hasbro also has a Monopoly film in the works..

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a186540/scotts-monopoly-film-inspired-by-alice.html

Have a read of that, I hate to admit that it kind of intrigues me. Plus Ridley Scott is directing it.
poppianderson
poppianderson - 2/7/2010, 12:00 AM
I agree there should be a better pick yes. But he's not the first one to look nothing like the character. And yes twilight does put me to sleep but it's made millions. What we should be comment about should be based on success of the film in question not judging the actor for his past films.
lilej2
lilej2 - 2/7/2010, 12:12 AM
great, now Taylor's our male Megan Fox, up for every role that should go to someone more fit for it and not some popular teen star

so a 17 year old (idk wth his race is) with black hair and a six pack is suppose to play a blonde and buff man who can stratch as far as possible?
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 2/7/2010, 12:14 AM
The success of Twilight is due to all the females going to watch the movie. Taylor is a young heartthrob to them. They wouldn't know the difference if he could act or not, and the bottom line is he isn't that great of an actor, as far as I am concerned. Movie sales do not necessarily mean that all the actors in the movie are great actors.

What next a live-action GUMBY? lol

And Lautner's the star?
Ol' Stretch looks a little older than a
teenager to me!

This whole thing sounds like a bad joke
written by a child! Hollywood has gone
down the flush-hole!!!!
