Who is STORM?
STORM is Ororo Iqadi T'Challa, was a thief, a goddess, an X-Men and a Queen. She is a mutant with the ability to perceive and manipulate the energy patterns that dictate the weather. This ability makes her incredibly powerful, and capable of manipulating all the different elements of weather, including wind and lightning.

STORM is a Marvel Comics character that first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975). She was created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum.

CHANGING APPEARANCES
First Costume
When STORM joined the X-Men she wore a costume basically consisted of a bikini suit held together by a gold ring, thigh-high boots and a mix between a cape and a poncho with gold trimming covering her upper arms and fastened to her back and her gold bracelets, and a black tiara.

Morlock Leader
When the X-Men confronted the sewer dwelling Morlocks, they were outnumbered. STORM challenged their leader, and she won, automatically making her the leader of the Morlocks as well.

The Mohawk
Matching her darker personality turn, STORM had cut off her hair to a short Mohawk and wore a punk outfit, consisting of leather pants, a tight shirt and boots, matched with the vest she won from Callisto as a symbol of her leadership of the Morlocks. The ensemble was complete with strong eye-make-up and she also took to wearing different kinds of earrings with her uniform, the lightning bolt earrings eventually becoming a standard part of her outfit.

Goddess of Thunder
In one instance Ororo was kidnapped by the Asgardian god of mischief, Loki transformed STORM to become the new Goddess of Thunder. While under Loki's influence, Ororo wore an Asgardian ensemble and was given a replica of Thor's hammer.

Punk
STORM will regrow her hair but for a time stayed with the punk outfit.

STORM 3rd X-Men Costume
Returning to her old self, STORM begun wearing a long-sleeved leather suit with a lightning bolt motif on her chest, combined with a cape that was split in two parts at the back- similar to her old cape.

Young STORM
For a time STORM's age was reverted to pre-teen by a villain called Nanny.

Mutate
After her stint as a kid she became a genoshan mutate, where she has her head shaved and wore ordinance uniform

Blue & Gold uniform
STORM also wore the standard Blue and Gold uniform of the X-Men.

Leather Outfit
STORM took to wearing another long-sleeved black leather suit, similar to the one worn in the outback, though without the lightning bolt motif. Her cape was attached in front with two X-symbols encircled in red.

Other Costumes
STORM then jumped from one look to another:

X-Treme STORM
With X-Treme X-Men STORM wore a black, short-sleeved bathing suit with a lightning motif on her chest, cut very high, showing a lot of leg, combined with long gloves and thigh-high stiletto boots, a red-trimmed cape, a simple tiara and her mother’s ruby as a choker.

New X-Men
STORM for a brief moment also adapted the black leather uniform the X-Men where wearing for a time.

Marriage to Black Panther

An X-Man and a Queen

LIVE APPEARANCES
STORM appears in the movies X-Men, X2: X-Men United, and X-Men: The Last Stand, portrayed by Halle Berry.

A young Ororo Munroe was to appear in a cameo in the prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Some of the footage was incorporated into some teaser trailers. The footage was not included in the final release of the film.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Atmokinesis: Several times in the past, Storm has been described as a "sculptress". This is the best way to describe her mutant mastery over weather, and certain forms of energy. When Storm uses her psionic powers, she sees the world as colorful, constantly changing energy patterns, rather than solid matter. These energy patterns can be "molded" to Storm's will to create a vast number of effects which mainly deal with weather manipulation. Storm is greatly in tune with nature and the elements. She can feel them, and likewise they react to her emotional state. She can manipulate weather patterns on a variety of scales, including the ability to summon large and violent thunderstorms and blizzards, as well as sleet and hail. Storm can also use the weather as a weapon. She can summon lightning bolts from the sky that can be used to blind, stun, or severely burn her opponents even to the point of death.

Flight: She has the ability to fly by gliding on wind currents. She can also move objects or other people with the wind or create a dome of air pressure to deflect attacks. Storm's powers grant her the ability to fly as high as the atmosphere can be stretched by using her mastery over wind. She can even carry other people with her.

Energy Manipulation: When using her powers, Storm becomes one with the energy patterns she manipulates. This gives her the ability to project weather effects through her body.

Weather Resistance: She seems unaffected by the weather, including lightning and temperature.

Earth-Link: Storm's mutant powers has created a psychic bond between herself and the primal life force of Earth's biosphere. This bond with the Earth and apparently the entire universe, gives Storm spiritual and material sustenance with an almost empathic sense towards living thing.

AbilitiesExpert Thief: Extraordinary ability at picking locks and pockets, escape artist; therefore, she is very stealthy and good at sneaking up on people.

Expert Combatant: She is an experienced hand-to-hand combatant, trained by Wolverine. She is also an extraordinary marksman with handguns.

Expert Gardener: Ororo is also an excellent gardener owing to her supernatural abilities and has her own botanical gardens at the Xavier Mansion.

High Influential Connections: As Queen of Wakanda, Storm has access to a vast collection of magical artifacts, technological and military hardware (including Vibranium), as well as the support of the nation's wide array of scientists, adventurers, and superheroes.

Diplomatic Immunity: As the leader of a sovereign nation, Storm often visits the United States or the United Nations for political reasons. She enjoys diplomatic immunity during these trips, and her embassy is considered foreign soil.

This is the 41st article in my Know Your CBM Character series. Any requests and suggestions for an article for this series write it down in the comment section BELOW.

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. There's something about Storm that I love yet pisses me off. She's tough yet weak. Can't figure her out.

Storm has always, not only been one of my favorite X Men, but favorite Super heroes period. I love the "one with nature and life" aspect of her and hate it when writers ignore that (ahem, Singer). I would LOVE to see a Storm solo flick. I think it would be better than Wonder Woman.

You left out a very important part of her history. She lost her powers for about 4 years during the 80's, during that time she led the X-Men as a normal human.

She was kick ass on the 90's cartoon too. I just finished watching The Black Panther cartoon on Netflix and she's on there too, it was pretty good not at all what I was expecting. The only bad thing about it is each episode is only 10-12mins long.

Storm...is one VERY hot chick.

@DrFate- Pollmaster did forget to mention that Storm appears to be a..."natural exhibitionist" (including her very first comic book appearance, Giant Size X-Men #1 in 1975).
