Who is Colossus?
Colossus is Piotr Rasputin, a Russian mutant who has the ability to transform his entire body into organic steel. The side effect of this transformation grants him tremendous strength and durability.

Colossus is a Marvel Comics superhero created by writer Len Wein and illustrator Dave Cockrum, he first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975). A Russian born mutant, who is by far the physically strongest X-Man. Able to transform into a strong metallic form, even without his powers he still cuts a physically imposing figure standing at 6'7". Throughout the series he has been portrayed as a quiet, shy character, honest and innocent. A talented artist, he only reluctantly agrees to use his powers in combat, feeling it is his responsibility to use his abilities for the betterment of human and mutant-kind.

CHANGING APPEARANCES

Colossus's powers manifested during his adolescence. He was content simply to use these powers to aid the people from his place; however he was soon contacted by Professor Charles Xavier and recruited him for a new team of X-Men. Colossus’ first costume was designed by Professor X. It contains a pair of blue pants but, as the costume is made of unstable molecules, they vanish when he transforms into steel.
First time his powers manifested

X-Men costume

Proletarian
In one of their missions Arcade brainwashed Colossus into becoming "The Proletarian," and he battled the other X-Men until they countered the brainwashing.

X-Men costume 2
Colossus after the events of Secret Wars decided to try out a new look.

X-Men costume 3
Still in the mind set of improving his costume, he came up with another suit that alluded to European military uniforms.

Trunks

X-Trunks with Armbands
Colossus was a part of the team of X-Men living in the Australian outback. While on this team Colossus just wore pants, boots and two armbands, all made out of some metallic substance.

Acolyte
When his sister Illyana became the first tragic victim of the Legacy Virus. The deaths of his immediate family caused Colossus to rethink his position with the X-Men and join Magneto and his Acolytes, who had offered him an alternative to the X-Men's way of fighting and living.

Excalibur
His stay with Magneto and the Acolytes did not last long. He left in search of his love Kitty Pryde, now a member of Excalibur. Colossus traveled to England, where he found Kitty in the arms of Pete Wisdom. Colossus accepted Kitty's new life and chose to become a member of Excalibur.

X-Men costume 4
Excalibur disbanded, Colossus, like some of his teammates, rejoined the X-Men. He first wore his classic look but later the whole team adopted updated costumes.

Stopping the Legacy Virus
Learning that there's a cure for the Legacy Virus, but needed a mutant to sacrifice himself for the cure to be activated. Colossus take it upon himself to stop the virus.

Death not Permanent!
Colossus later was revived by alien technology.

Colossus is Back
Presently Colossus is still fighting along with his comrades in the X-Men.

LIVE APPEARANCE
Daniel Cumore portrayed Colossus in the X-Men movies.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Organic Steel Transformation: Colossus is a mutant with the superhuman ability to convert the tissue of his entire body into an organic steel-like substance.

Superhuman Strength: After transforming into his armored state, Colossus possesses vast superhuman strength.

Superhuman Stamina: Also, while in armored form, Colossus' musculature produces considerably less fatigue toxins than the musculature of a normal human. At his peak, he can physically exert himself at peak capacity for several days before the build up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him.

Superhuman Durability: In his armored form Colossus is invulnerable to most forms of bodily harm. His armor is capable of withstanding ballistic penetration, including that of a 110 millimeter Howitzer shell. He can survive extremes of temperature from 70 degrees above absolute zero (-390 degrees Fahrenheit) to approximately 9000 degrees Fahrenheit. He can survive a collision with a loaded, one-ton flatbed truck at 100 miles per hour or an explosion of 450 pounds of TNT. He can also survive falls from great heights while in his armored body.

AbilitiesSkilled Painter: Peter is a highly skilled artist.

Expert Combatant: Even though Peter has a gentle demeanor and personality, he is a skilled hand to hand combatant, having received some training personally from Wolverine. He has also honed himself through years of combat training within the X-Men's Danger Room.

This is the 42nd article in my Know Your CBM Character series. Any requests and suggestions for an article for this series write it down in the comment section BELOW.

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. One of my 3 three favorite X-Men, beside Wolverine and Gambit.

@Zekeil The actor wasnt bad. he was just goin by a shit-stained script courtesy of Fox. By Daniel Cudmore was a good choice and he's actually bigger than Colossus in his normal form. Cudmore is
6' 8"
