Who is DEATHSTROKE?
DEATHSTROKE is Slade Wilson, he was genetically augmented to be the perfect soldier, he is ruthless and cunning. He is a great combatant and weapons master. He first appeared in New Teen Titans (vol. 1) #2 (December 1980), and was created by Marv Wolfman & George Pérez.

DEATHSTROKE the Terminator first appeared in 1980, in the pages of New Teen Titans. He was originally introduced as "the Terminator", a mercenary who was completing the terms of a contract undertaken by his son, Ravager, who died battling the Titans.
DEATHSTROKE as he first appeared

DEATHSTROKE was imbued with enhanced physical powers by secret army experiments attempting to create metahuman supersoldiers for the U.S. military, DEATHSTROKE became a mercenary soon after the experiment when he defied orders and rescued a friend, who was sent on a suicide mission.

[Captain America's on the phone he wants his origin back.]

After an incident where their son was taken as a hostage, due to DEATHSTROKE's mercenary dealings. His wife, enraged at the endangerment of their son, tried to kill DEATHSTROKE by shooting him, but only managed to destroy his right eye. He wears a mask which has a black, featureless half covering on his lost eye. Without his mask, Slade wears an eye-patch.

DEATHSTROKE then became one of the main antagonists for the Titans. He even had his young "lover" Terra infiltrated their ranks, with the plan to betray them. DEATHSTROKE was confronted by Dick Grayson, now going by the name Nightwing, and his son Jericho, who has the power to possess others. When Jericho possessed Slade, Terra thought she was betrayed and then she commited suicide.

In another storyline, DEATHSTROKE was forced to kill one his son, Jericho, when he was possessed and corrupted by the souls of Azarath.

Slade underwent a process to gain the ability of physical regeneration, allowing him to survive any wound so long as his brain is intact (this power is limited, as Slade cannot regenerate his lost eye because that injury happened before he gained his healing factor).

DEATHSTROKE then recruits a new ally to his cause: his daughter, Rose Wilson. Slade kidnapped Rose and pumped her full of the same chemicals that transformed him into DEATHSTROKE. But those chemicals damaged Rose's mind. In an attempt to emulate her father, the Rose gouged out her own eye.

During the Identity Crisis storyline, DEATHSTROKE was hired by Dr Light as a bodyguard. He single-handedly fought several members of the Justice League. Only the gamble by Green Arrow did they get the upperhand and only by their combined effort did they finally subdue DEATHSTROKE.

DEATHSTROKE also organized his own team of superhumans, which he dubbed Titans East.

During the Blackest Night event, when the dead of the DC universe rose again as Black Lanterns, DEATHSTROKE and her daughter, Rose, worked together to fight their dead love ones.

After the events of Blackest night DEATHSTROKE went again on a recruiting spree for a new team of superhumans, again hi-jacking the name Titans, but his group are tagged Villains for Hire.

Slade Wilson - DEATHSTROKE The Terminator

LIVE APPEARANCE
Antonio Sabàto, Jr
In the fourth and final season of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, an assassin by the name of DEATHSTROKE appeared in an episode played by Antonio Sabàto, Jr. The few similarity with his comicbook counterpart is the name and that he is an international assassin. In the show DEATHSTROKE is a former scientist. An accident in the lab exposed him to magnetic particles, permanently altering his body and granting him magnetic powers.

Michael Hogan
Michael Hogan portrays Slade Wilson in the tenth and final season of the WB/CW television series Smallville. In the show, United States Army Lieutenant General Slade Wilson is behind the Vigilante Registration Act, anti-superhero legislation that he has propagated while under the influence of Darkseid.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Enhanced Mind: Able to utilize 9 times more than a human's full brain capacity for information processing and sorting, DEATHSTROKE's mind is virtually a computer built for strategy and problem-solving, one that works at optimal ability even when under stress and fatigue. Using his superior problem-solving skills, DEATHSTROKE can work out a battle ahead of time for many possibilities and predict enemy movements and tactics after the battle has engaged by recalling and utilizing memorized mannerisms acquired through past experience on a moment's notice. He is also ingenious in devising solutions against superior aspects of opponents, can observe and exploit, and can calculate distance, speed, and time at lightning speeds; his sense of timing is superb, bordering on perfection.

Enhanced Reflexes: DEATHSTROKE possesses enhanced reflexes. The speed at which he reacts allows him to dodge fast-moving projectiles such as arrows and bullets. He can usually out-react even the fastest humans, no matter how well-trained.

Enhanced Strength: His entire muscular system was hardened and strengthened, allowing DEATHSTROKE to be "as strong as 10 men".

Enhanced Stamina: DEATHSTROKE can exert himself at peak capacity greater then any human could.

Enhanced Speed: Ability to run at speeds of up to 30mph and long distances far out-performing any Olympic athlete.

Enhanced Senses: DEATHSTROKE's senses have been augmented to higher levels of ability. He can hear, see, and smell things better than a normal human.

Regenerative Healing Factor: With an enhanced ability to heal damaged tissue, the rate at which DEATHSTROKE's body recovers from injury and capable of being repaired before death. As such, DEATHSTROKE's body can take a tremendous amount of punishment before succumbing to death. Simple gunshot and stab wounds, cuts, and broken bones can heal faster then normal. He was once impaled clean through his chest, and it did naught but slow him down and cause great pain.

Masterful Tactician: Slade is most likely the greatest strategist and tactician on the planet always calculating his opponents moves before hand.

Skilled Martial Artist: Trained in hand-to-hand combat and when he was in the Army, he proved himself to be one of their best fighters. During this time, he received Martial Arts training through Boxing, Jujitsu and Karate. After mastering these Martial arts he furthered his studies when he sought an assassin known as Natas to train him in the ways of Ninja and had studied assassination techniques.

This is the 62nd article in my Know Your CBM Character series. Any requests and suggestions for an article for this series write it down in the comment section BELOW.

Build up your GEEKCREDS by answering this:

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!

Always was partial towards Deathstroke. One of the coolest costumes in the DCU, in my opinion.

Would it be too much to ask for a Spawn article?

I love this character I am so glad that you finally listened to me and made this article. Deathstroke is one of the coolest DC villains and I wish he would be portrayed correctly in a movie preferably played by Sean Bean.

I love how Bat-haters relish such moments!
It just shows how superior Batman is that they just jump and cheer at every time the dark knight is beaten.
And it's always nice to know that by your own admition Batman owns the JLA...!

Making such a big deal out of Batman's defeat only speaks volumes in Batman's favor not the other way around. lol

Anyway, regarding Deathstroke.... I love Slade Wilson coz he poses a challenge for Batman, combining both brains and brawns. And the fact that he is superior to Batman on many levels makes their clash even more interesting. I mean it's always better when the villain is the toughest.
I do wish the include Deathstroke in the current run. I'd like to see the new-and -improved Bruce go up against Wilson... or even better Bruce and his team taking down Slade, Shiva and Prometheus!!

SageMode - 5/16/2011, 5:39 PM
@intruder: Its not necessarily PIS. Deathstroke was just using Colossus' own momentum against him.

If anything, Captain America is more closer to Deathstroke than he is to Batman

@MonumentTheBatman: We relish the moment because this just proves that Batman is NOT invincible as his hardcore fans portray him out to be.

Deathstroke is simply an Evil Captain America only more lethal and way more devious!

Sagemode I was just going to mention identity crisis, when dr. light hires deathstroke to protect him from the JLA, he single handedly beats down a bunch of the justice league. the way he took down flash and green lantern was kind of stupid, like when he thrusts the blade at wally... wally could have just dodged it.. he could dodge the explosions but not a man thrusting a blade which is far slower? really? anyway it was a cool moment from a cool story
odie00
odie00 - 5/16/2011, 6:33 PM
@the intruder- i think he already had the sword in position when the flash got shanked. because he knew that was going to happen because he had planned that whole trap. deathstroke uses 90% of his brain as to the normal person uses 10%. and on top of that he is a super soldier. idenity crisis was one of my favorite stories of all time.

oh and this deathstroke is the s*ht. not that damn old raggidy slade wilson in smallville

Lol @ the TheIntruder. DeathStroke owned Batmans a**. Didn't have a full understanding of his abilities until now. Used to watch the Teen Titans cartoon and wonder why he was whooping their a** so bad. After this article I see why. Dude is a badass.

It's Wade DeFarge, Rose killed him. Come on people. Man Smallville [frick]ed up Deathstroke BADLY.

Been a big fan of his all throughout the 90's. "City of Assassins" great reads.

His role in Identity Crisis and Infinite Crisis= purely EPIC.

Great character and always been one of my favs.

Wade Wilson would destroy Slade Wilson any day.....

odie00 - 5/17/2011, 3:17 AM
@ghostpool- haha im both a deathstroke and deadpool fan but deadpool would get mopped by slade in a heartbeat. everything besides deadpools humor they totally ripped off from deathstroke.
SageMode
SageMode - 5/17/2011, 3:36 AM
Only other explanation could be that the Flash wasn't running that fast. LOL. I dunno.
Cause if you really think about it, Deathstroke relies moreso on his powers to defeat opponents, as opposed to his fighting skills.

@ luckylu

thanks,mate.

i have no idea why, someone reported me for something.

pretty sad really,i wouldn't report anyone.

i confronted them asked them not to,but i didn't report them

i don't roll like that.

Deathstoke is awesome.
Since one out of my two favorite Deathstroke appearances has been brought up from Identity Crisis you still cant forget his brilliance in his original debut in Marv Wolman's New Teen Titans, he kicked all kinds of ass in there, especially with Terra, one of teh best CB runs of all time.

Im more of a Marvel guy but Deathstroke has always been one of my fav villians. Im kinda new to all this and can figure out for the life of me what PIS is :(
cosmicstranger
cosmicstranger - 5/17/2011, 10:30 AM
IMHO, Deathstroke is just another assassin. He really never stood out (for me) from other non-super powered killers.
SageMode
SageMode - 5/17/2011, 10:45 AM
@RAZE: PIS = Plot-Induced Stupidity. It mostly deals with certain situations involving battle between comic book characters in which they do things that they should not be able to do.

Like.....Jimmy Olson punched a hole through Doomsday, that would be PIS cause Olson can in no way do that.

Hope my example helps. Lol
