Who is LOBO?
LOBO is a Czarnian, he is last of his race because he fragged them all. He is the universe's best bounty hunter. LOBO has exceptional strength and fortitude. He enjoys nothing better than mindless violence and intoxication. Killing is an end in itself, He is arrogant and self-centered, focusing almost solely on his own pleasures, although he proudly lives up to his word.

Physically, LOBO resembles a chalk-white human male with blood-red pupilless eyes surrounded by black eye shadow-like patches. When he first appeared he has neatly trimmed purple-grey hair, and wears an orange-and-purple leotard. The character first appeared in Omega Men #3 (June 1983), and was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen.

His look will get some overhaul, his hair soon redesigned to be a long, straggly, grey-black mane. His costume has been replaced by black leather biker gear. LOBO seems way too thin in his early appearance in Justice League International. And slightly cleaner, somehow

His default look now is his muscle-bound "Hell's Angel's" like look, complete with chains, hooks and skulls.

In his travels around the universe, LOBO has frequently found himself either on Earth or encountering it's heroes. LOBO is rarely diplomatic and these encounters often become violent. LOBO's first trip to Earth saw him clash with Superman. As both of them are immensely powerful and unable to decisively beat the other, Superman usually has to find a way to appease LOBO before the damage gets to severe. Due to his inability to beat Superman, LOBO will often challenge him in an effort to finally prove he is better.

LOBO was tricked into joining the interstellar police force, L.E.G.I.O.N. However, he continues solo activity, which seems to often bring him to Earth and in conflict with its heroes. But later LOBO returned to become a full-time bounty hunter again.

A magical accident transformed LOBO into a teenager, known as Li'l LOBO. In this state, he joined Young Justice and eventually accompanied them to Apokolips, where he is killed in combat.

However, the aforementioned magical accident has restored his ability to grow clones from a single drop of blood, and millions of LOBOs rush into battle against Apokoliptian soldiers, whom the LOBOs quickly defeat. The LOBOs then turn on each other, until only one is left; in the process, the surviving LOBO regrows to adulthood. His time as a member of Young Justice becomes a distant memory.

Back at the end of the 90s LOBO received bad reviews because of his violence. So, in a few issue LOBO reinvented himself as a Superman clone, complete with a new haircut, cape and boyscout attitude. Though the Main Man didn't dish out the nasty, there were still a lot of guts and head's flying courtesy of the other characters in the book.

During the 52 storyline, LOBO reappeared professing to have found religion, and made a vow of non-violence. He is the current caretaker of the Emerald Eye of Ekron. He helped a group of heroes to defeat Lady Styx, he brings the Emerald Eye to the triple-headed fish god, who agrees to release LOBO from his vow of non-violence in exchange. When told that the Emerald Eye is the only thing that can kill the fish god, LOBO blasts him with it. When he was under the service of the fish god who wore some sort of ceremonial robe, which seemingly looks like a pirate attire.

In the Reign in Hell miniseries, it is revealed that at some point in time LOBO's soul was sent to Hell. LOBO's suffering was enough to power Neron's whole castle. LOBO was freed from his prison and went on a rampage through hell to seek revenge on Neron.

In Brightest Day crossover, LOBO appeared on Earth to capture a bounty on Atrocitus's head. He fought with Green Lantern - Hal Jordan, Star Sapphire - Carol Ferris and Sinestro, he then fled, which Hal found unusual. However, it is revealed that the fight was all staged by Atrocitus himself. As a payment, LOBO was given a Red Lantern ring.

LOBO's Greatest Hit:

LIVE MEDIA APPEARANCE
In 2002, Scott Leberecht directed a film adaptation of The LOBO Paramilitary Christmas Special as part of the American Film Institute's director's studies program. Andrew Bryniarski stars as LOBO. The film was made with a budget of $2,400, although many professionals donated time and effort.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Superhuman Strength: Varies greatly from writer to writer. Hence more often than not, LOBO is able to effortlessly lift far in excess of 100 tons.

Superhuman Stamina: He possesses inexhaustible stamina and in most interpretations cannot tire.

Immortality: LOBO also is functionally immortal and cannot die no matter what happens. He is immune to the effects of aging and disease and he has been banned from entering either Heaven or Hell.

Invulnerability

Superhuman Durability: LOBO's body is resistant to most forms of physical pressure.

Superhuman Speed: Ability to sharpen his awareness and increase his temporal flow, appearing to move faster than humanly possible. He can move at incredible speeds,

Self-Sustenance: He does not need, any food, water, air or sleep and he can survive in the vacuum of space without any harm.

Regeneration: If LOBO does somehow sustains injury, his accelerated healing factor enables him to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue instantly, with little apparent pain. He will apparently heal from any injury. For instance, LOBO can regenerate out of a pool of his own blood, apparently recycling the cells instantly.

Genius-Level Intellect: As unbelievable as it may seem, despite his violent and loutish nature, LOBO seems to have a genius-level intellect in matters of destruction and violence. He can create complex virulent agents and the necessary antidotes to them such as the one he let loose on Czarnia, resulting in the deaths of the entire population in the span of one week. He was also able to scavenge parts from a destroyed time hopper and attach them to his own bike, producing a working time machine.

AbilitiesTracking: Tracking ability allows him to trace any prey across even the Universe.

Multilingualism: By his own account, LOBO can speak 17,897 different languages from across the galaxy.

Expert Combatant: LOBO is a proficient hand to hand combatant having mastered numerous forms from all over the galaxy

This is the 67th article in my Know Your CBM Character series. Any requests and suggestions for an article for this series write it down in the comment section BELOW.

Build up your GEEKCREDS by answering this:

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!

How can you call this the 'history' of the Main Man when you're missing/misrepresenting chucks of his past?! One thing you FORGOT to mention, Lobo is IMMORTAL. In the mini-series 'Lobo's Back', Lobo is bushwacked and killed. He's sent to Heaven on a technicality (Hell doesn't want him). After several attempts at reincarnation (once as a squirel, another as a woman), Lobo finally makes it back at the point in time where he's killed and dusts his opponents. Because of the chaos he's inflicted on the after-life, the 'powers-that-be' declare the Main Man an immortal.

Also, the comic version of 'Paramilitary Christmas Special' is SLIGHTLY different than the fan-film - Lobo is still contracted by the Easter Bunny to kill Santa, but Santa is a slave-driving sweat-shop owner forced to give away presents once a year in order to appease Amnesty Internation for numerous worker violations. He's also a kama-weilding psycho who's battle with the 'Main Man' is an EPIC bloodbath! The ending is also quite different - Lobo (in the 'spirit of the holday') decides to deliver HIS version of presents (bombs) on the unsuspecting population below! INFINITELY funnier - LMFAO!

If you're going to call your articles 'character histories', then please DO YOUR HOMEWORK! KNOW YOUR CHARACTERS!!!!

Lobo looks great, and the production values are impressive considering. But the director made a major error: he filmed it like a typical, dark action movie.

Lobo is satire, since his first mini-series. And the very nature of this story is both fantastical AND satirical...and it's filmed as if the director was completely unaware of that. Save for the one moment which satirized Blair Witch, there was nothing played for laughs here. But the actual comic book of the Paramilitary Special? Fraggin' hysterical.

Had no idea about the recent changes to his character. Interesting.

The ONLY way a Lobo movie would be successful is if the studio did it RIGHT and made it rated-R (with all the raunch and sick, twisted ultra-violent humor we've come to expect and love from the character). In other words, 'Not an ice cube's chance in HELL (unfortunately)!'
