DARKSEID: Lord of the Omega Effect

DARKSEID: Lord of the Omega Effect

"The only rules that mean anything here are the ones we make ourselves. Your honor code can't help you here. Reach out with your soul -- and see what's at stake. We clash on the ultimate battlefield for a prize too precious to lose -- too vast to be caged by your cramped comprehension. The only prize that exists. Existence itself."

Who is DARKSEID?
DARKSEID is a DC Comics supervillain who first appeared in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (November 1970) and was created by writer-artist Jack Kirby. DARKSEID is one of the most powerful characters in the DC Universe. He is worshiped as the "God of Evil", DARKSEID is the supreme monarch of planet Apokolips, considered as one of Superman's greatest adversaries, and he seeks to control all living things with the Anti-Life Equation.
Comics where DARKSEID first appeared

DARKSEID started life as Uxas, second in line to the throne of Apokolips, Uxas killed his mother, to wrest control of Apokolips from her after his father, was trapped on the Source Wall in his attempt to unlock the secret of The Source. Uxas also killed his brother, to steal from him the Omega Effect. With power, a following, and a drive to accomplish his goals without regret or remorse, Uxas took up his God Name: DARKSEID.

DARKSEID's goal was to eliminate all free will from the universe and reshape it into his own image. To this end, he sought to unravel the mysterious Anti-Life Equation, which gives its user complete control over the thoughts and emotions of all living beings in the universe.

While he has yet to obtain a working copy of the Anti-Life Equation, DARKSEID has tried on several other occasions to achieve dominance of the universe through other methods. He has a special interest in Earth, as he believes humans possess collectively within their minds most, fragments of the Anti-Life Equation. DARKSEID intends to probe the minds of every human in order to piece together the Equation. During his efforts to secure the Equation, he encountered and battled many of Earth's superheroes, chief among them Superman, a relationship which was extremely antagonistic. DARKSEID and Superman clashed many times, with the Man of Steel almost always gaining the upperhand.

DARKSEID next attempt on Earth involved Superman's cousin, a brainwashed Supergirl. Superman not happy with what DARKSEID did to his cousin, was set into an unparalleled fit of rage as he hurls DARKSEID into the sun where they attempted to destroy each other. Superman beats DARKSEID unconscious enough to throw him into the Source Wall,.

Eventually Superman would return and release DARKSEID from the Source Wall. Though his new found freedom will be met with an untimely demise in the hands of his son, Orion, as DARKSEID was in the middle of planning the fall of the Fourth World. The battle was a furious exchange of blows but at the end of it all, DARKSEID has his heart ripped from his chest by Orion.

Comicbook death's almost always are never permanent. So, when DARKSEID "died" his essence was thrown back through time and space, landing on Earth. It is revealed that DARKSEID finally discovered the Anti-Life Equation, and is using it to create a power-base on earth. DARKSEID now is an evil businessman who is referred to only as "Dark Side".

But later he found a new host body that rebirth him to his old self, and his old familiar look.

DARKSEID then gains the fullest of his power. Batman tried to stop DARKSEID by shooting a gun with a radion bullet, while DARKSEID simultaneously hits Batman with the Omega Sanction. DARKSEID is mortally wounded, which caused DARKSEID to fall through the multiverse, he drags all of time and space in the entire multiverse into a doomsday singularity with him. DARKSEID at this time is beyond physical attack, as he now almost entirely controls reality itself. With his body poisoned by radion, DARKSEID's spirit continued to survive by vibrating at a frequency similar to the multiverse, Superman learned about the vibration, and created an opposite vibration to cancel him out for good.
Batman shot DARKSEID

Superman sings a note to create a counter vibration to cancel out DARKSEID

DARKSEID - GOD OF EVIL

LIVE APPEARANCE
DARKSEID is the main antagonist for the tenth and final season of Smallville. Producers of the series mentioned that the character will not be fully revealed at the beginning and will be a force that is going to be felt throughout the season and eventually materialize as the episodes progress.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

New God Physiology: The beings of Apokolips call themselves Gods and live outside of normal time and space in a realm called the Fourth World. These New Gods have evolved due to their close proximity to the Source, a primeval energy, believed to be one of the ultimate foundations of the Universal Expression of Energy, along with their superior technology, into beings of genetic stability and evolutionary perfection. The denizens of New Genesis are immortal, stronger, faster, and smarter than homo sapiens, despite their resemblance to the same

Superhuman Strength: DARKSEID is an extremely powerful alien hailing from planet Apokolips, who possesses an extreme degree of colossal super-strength. DARKSEID's full strength potential varies depending on the incarnation. Overall, because he is a high-tier cosmic being, DARKSEID can easily overpower and kill humans and most galactic beings. As such, he can bend and break through reinforced steel, crush wood, and any other man-made materials, and can lift extremely heavy objects, decimate full-sized buildings and other structures with his might.

Superhuman Speed: Although rarely displayed, DARKSEID can react and maneuver faster than the healthiest and strongest human athlete who partakes in daily exercise.

Superhuman Stamina: It is generally accepted that DARKSEID can maintain continuous movement and strenuous exercise for unlimited periods of time without ever getting weary or tired in the process, and it that regard, he can battle other aliens for extended amounts of time before tiring.

Invulnerability: DARKSEID is extremely resistant to most forms of physical and mental harm. DARKSEID's full durability capacity varies depending on the incarnation. Overall, because he is a high-tier cosmic being, humans couldn't even begin to harm him, bullets bounce off him, rockets, bombs and lasers won't even leave a mark on him, and high-voltage energy emissions can't penetrate through him. He is completely immune to all earthly diseases and viruses.

Immortality: As a god of New Genesis, DARKSEID live almost indefinitely, as he can't age, wither, or degrade. However, though it is nearly impossible for him to die, other high-tier aliens can kill him.

Omega Effect: DARKSEID wields a cosmic energy field called "Omega Effect", which proves integral, as it is the core from which his other abilities manifest from. This effect allows him to transverse through time and space, also enabling him to break interpretable barriers and force-fields.

Omega Beams: He focuses this power as a form of energy that he fires from his eyes. This effect is not only a relentless attack, but it is capable of teleporting the target to any location DARKSEID chooses and recall them later or erase the target from the universe and similarly reform them. DARKSEID has pinpoint control over his Omega Beams, and his unerring aim allows it to travel in straight lines or bend, twist or curve around corners. It has been shown that the Omega Beams are ineffective against the bracelets of Wonder Woman, as they were created from the Olympian Aegis. He has claimed that no being had yet withstood the full force of the Omega Beam.

Telepathy: DARKSEID can easily read minds of others anywhere in entire Universe. In this ability, he can also attack or invade someone's mind with images.

Mind Control: DARKSEID can control the actions, thoughts and speech of humans just by thinking. In the scope of this ability, he can apparently, control and take over 100 individuals at once, indicating the capacity potential his brain can achieve.

Telekinesis: DARKSEID can mentally influence the movement of objects and people with his mind; he often makes things float with simple gestures of his hand.

Matter Manipulation: DARKSEID can transmute and manipulate matter, and in extension atoms, at will; he can destroy humans with a mere thought, and as such, he can even create his own creature complexions by design out of nothing.

Molecular Dispersion: He is also able to dissipate and disperse the molecules of an object or organism, effectively erasing them from existence.

Avatar Creation: A simple thought allows DARKSEID to create liable avatars if/when the need arises.

Psionic Possession: psychic abilities to possess an individual and negate any superhuman abilities they may have.

Energy Manipulation: can also mentally control most known forms of energy, allowing him to erect protective force fields and project withering energy bolts.

Teleportation: DARKSEID can teleport himself and other beings anywhere in the entire Universe even through other dimensions at a mere thought.

Size Alteration: DARKSEID can easily manipulate his size, density and mass just by thinking, enabling him to become any size he wants.

Time Travel: DARKSEID can move and transverse through time at ease.

Genius-Level Intellect: DARKSEID possesses intelligence that surpasses even the greatest minds in the universe. With this he is an excellent strategist, and has proven that not only sheer force of strength and power has aided him in battles.

Master Strategist: He is a master planner and strategist and his armies are nearly unbeatable under his leadership.

Intimidation: With his frightening visage and ruthless nature, DARKSEID instills fear in friend and foe alike, something he no doubt enjoys.

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. Smallville seriously fricked up Darkseid.

smallville seriously f*cked up many characters darkseid & doomsday being the worse.

the only two character they got right were dr.fate & zatanna.
Illuminatus
Illuminatus - 5/29/2011, 2:28 PM
@marvel72 While I will agree that Zatanna was....acceptable, Dr. Fate was a goddamn joke on that bootleg of a TV show. He failed to actually demonstrate any real powers. Icicle stabbing Dr. Fate in the back? You have GOT to be shitting me. Seeing as physical violence almost always just passes through Fate, because of his almost constant field of intangibility. They poorly adapted the character, and the costume looked worse than Cosplay costumes.

Illuminatus - 5/29/2011, 2:29 PM
@OSCURO Doomsday is not more powerful, Doomsday is a flea to Darkseid. One Omega Beam and Doomsday would cease to exist.

marvel72 - 5/29/2011, 2:36 PM
the only way you'll see a decent darkseid is a big budget movie,no small budget shit stain of a show can do the character justice.

@ illuminatus

i was purely judging it on how he looked,i totally agree the way he was portrayed sucked.

@Illuminatus

They fought in Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey. You get to see the origins of Doomsday and you find out that Doomsday and Darkseid have fought twice. The first time Darseid hit him with his Omega Beam and killed Doomsday, but since Doomsday always comes back to life and is immune to whatever killed him before, Darkseid's Omega Beam can't kill him now

AEStark
AEStark - 5/29/2011, 11:12 PM
Really? You did include Michael Ironside's epic portrayal of the character?
LOL
LOL - 5/30/2011, 2:44 AM
@AEStark - PollMaster is el cheapo or probably too lazy to include anything else other than LIVE action appearances. Others have been trying to have him add voice actors from any animated series/movies to the character bios he puts on this site. This site covers EVERYTHING related to CBM's (and some not-so-CBM stuff too), and that ESPECIALLY include comic book animated movies, such a shame it's not reflected in posts like these. IMO, it does a disservice to the voice actors that play them as their work goes unmentioned and I feel that they are under-appreciated.

@LOL wow you're a tool, 'Pollmaster is el cheapo and probably too lazy'... He writes these [frick]ing articles every day you ungrateful troll, these probably take hours to make and he does it for our enjoyment, so he can choose to include what ever he wants, and leave out anything he wants as well. I don't see you contributing anything to this site, and if you have its no where near as much as Poll contributes.

@ACira and SillySteve181191, I call it as it is. This site reports everything from animated comic book movies to live actions comic book movies - INCLUDING things from the foreign market - some of the stuff being reported aren't even straight from comic books BUT comic book-like. So, am I being a troll for trying to bring in attention to the voice actors that breathed life to the characters PollMaster are running bios on? Hell no!

ACira, you talk big yourself - what have YOU contributed? huh? All I see you do is bad mouth people without even understanding the situation and jumping to conclusions on a topic that is someone's own opinion and call them a troll? I laugh at your insipid intelligence. My comment - despite my insinuations - are valid.

I only give respect where it's deserved and who is deserving of them, you don't. While PM gets props for posting comic book character bios - it could have been better if it was more detailed - there are a TON of fun facts when you include the history of voice actors that portray the characters sometimes even better than the live action versions.

You better look up what being a "TROLL" is as everything I've mentioned actually made a point.
