Who is DARWIN?
DARWIN is a mutant named Armando Muñoz. His first appearance was in X-Men: Deadly Genesis #2. Writer Ed Brubaker and artist Pete Woods created DARWIN.
First Appearance
DARWIN's powers are self-protection and continuous circumstantial evolution. As a young boy, he was found by some scientists who experimented on him. Later he was taken in by Moira MacTaggert and recruited as one of her "fosters." He was part of the first rescue team, to go after the captured X-Men from Krakoa. The rescue was a disaster many of DARWIN's teammates were killed, he absorbed their powers and converted himself into energy to fuse with another teammate named Vulcan.

The Krakoa incident was sent under wraps but later it would see the light of day. Beast then found out that DARWIN was still in fact alive. Beast has determined that DARWIN is now a being of pure energy. While not conscious, he was shown to still have brain activity and was still alive, located at the X-Mansion. DARWIN was later separated from Vulcan with a help from a powerful telepath, once apart DARWIN's abilities caused him to develop a physical form once more.
Once fully restored, he went in a mission with Professor X to stop his former teammate, Vulcan from destroying the Shi'ar Empire. When the Professor was captured by agents of the Shi'ar, DARWIN secretly jumped on the ship with intent to rescue Professor X.

During the World War Hulk storyline, the Hulk was after Professor X, this leads to a clash with the X-Men. DARWIN was one of the mutants protecting the professor, his powers evolved into something that would siphon gamma radiation. Unfortunately, there was just too much in Hulk, which prompted DARWIN to have a new evolution and that is to teleportation to help him get away from Hulk.
DARWIN would later be recruited by Siryn for X-Factor, she tells him that with X-Factor, he will not have to deal with the massive threats the X-Men routinely deal with. Ironically, his first adventure with X-Factor finds him accidentally crushed by a Sentinel that had been blasted out of the sky by Siryn. Emerging unharmed from the debris, DARWIN cynically mocks her earlier speech about not having to worry about this sort of thing with X-Factor.
Therefore, wherever DARWIN is, whatever X-Team he is on, you know he will continue to fight the good fight and keep on evolving.
LIVE MEDIA APPEARANCE
EDI GATHEGI
In the movie X-Men: First Class, he demonstrated abilities such as growing gills when underwater and developing armor plating to withstand physical beatings. However, his powers could not adapt quickly or thoroughly enough to withstand an energy attack placed in his mouth by Sebastian Shaw, though we could presume that DARWIN might have evolve into another state that would have helped him survive this attack, and only time will tell before he can reconstitute himself.

POWERS & ABILITIESNote: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.
Instantaneous Adaptation: powers of self-protection and continuous circumstantial evolution. DARWIN is able to adapt to any situation. His reactive mutation adjusts his capabilities to his environment. For example, his eyes would adapt to seeing in darkness, his lungs would adapt to poisoned air. He would become impervious to heat or smoke in a fire and he would grow gills when put underwater.

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE
Message to the CBM community: To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!
