Comic Book History

Who is LADY DEATHSTRIKE?
LADY DEATHSTRIKE is Yuriko Oyama, a Marvel supervillain, and a foe of the X-Men, especially Wolverine. LADY DEATHSTRIKE is a self-styled warrior, she underwent a process of bonding adamantium to her skeleton in addition to other cyber-genetic enhancements. She has since worked as a mercenary and assassin and feels a need to prove herself by killing Wolverine. Yuriko Oyama was created by writer Dennis O'Neil and artist Larry Hama.
First Appearance as Yuriko:

First Appearance as LADY DEATHSTRIKE:

Yuriko Oyama was born in Osaka, Japan. Her father was Lord Dark Wind (Kenji Oyama), a Japanese crime lord and criminal scientist who created the process by which adamantium can be bonded to bone. Kenji was a former Japanese kamikaze pilot during World War II. His face was horribly scarred in a failed suicide attack on an American battleship. Feeling shamed by his failure decades earlier, he scarred the faces of Yuriko and her two brothers in a ritual design.
LADY DEATHSTRIKE telling her father's story

Yuriko teamed up with Daredevil to gain vengeance against her father for her scarring. She guided Daredevil to Lord Dark Wind's private island. Yuriko slew Lord Dark Wind, as he was about to kill Daredevil.

Yuriko belatedly embraced her father's ideals and sought to track down whoever dishonored him and restore Japan's honor. She adopted a costumed identity, as a samurai warrior.

To give herself an edge LADY DEATHSTRIKE sought out Spiral's "body shoppe" where she received extensive cybernetic enhancements including adamantium bones and talons. As a cyborg, she became a professional criminal.

She had many run-ins with Wolverine, whom she considered stole the process of adamantium bonding that her father perfected.

She would later join a team of criminal cyborgs called the Reavers, led by Donald Pierce.

LADY DEATHSTRIKE with the updated Reavers

During Marvel's Civil War, LADY DEATHSTRIKE resurfaced as a member of Thunderbolts, they were tasked to go after the Secret Avengers, who resisted the Superhuman Registration Act.

LADY DEATHSTRIKE is next seen under going repairs again in Spiral's Body Shoppe, where she and Spiral was approach for membership in the Sisterhood of Mutants. It appears that while Spiral repaired LADY DEATHSTRIKE's body, she also gave her a more submissive personality.

When will LADY DEATHSTRIKE strike again? We do not know but we can expect that it will surely be fast and sharp.

ANIMATED APPEARANCES
X-Men Animated Series
LADY DEATHSTRIKE appeared in the X-Men Animated Series that ran from 1992-1997. She first appeared in the Season 3 episode "Out of the Past - Part 1", and was voiced by Tasha Simms. Her character was likely a merging with Wolverine's fiancée, Mariko Yashida.

LIVE MEDIA APPEARANCE
KELLY HU
LADY DEATHSTRIKE in X2: X-Men United was a mutant with regenerative abilities similar to those of Wolverine. She possessed super-human strength and a healing factor. She was involved in the same government program (Weapon X) as Wolverine, giving her adamantium claws that came out of her fingers. Yuriko was involved in the capture of Cyclops, initially she shoots him with a tranquilizer and is blasted into a wall because of Cyclops's retaliation. After she survived the optic blast, she pinned him to a wall and knocked him out with a kick. Under the effects of mind control, she was William Stryker's assistant. In the laboratory where Wolverine underwent his own transformation, Wolverine killed her in a fight with a fluid adamantium injection.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

LADY DEATHSTRIKE possesses various superhuman attributes because of allowing herself to be transformed into a cyborg.

Superhuman Strength: LADY DEATHSTRIKE is superhumanly strong and is capable of lifting about 1 ton with supreme effort.

Superhuman Speed: Deathstrike is capable of running and moving at speeds greater than the finest human athlete.

Superhuman Stamina: Deathstrike's artificial musculature produces less fatigue toxins than the natural musculature of an ordinary human. She can physically exert herself at peak capacity for several hours before fatigue begins to impair her.

She has proven capable of fully repairing damaged or destroyed cybernetic and organic tissue inflicted by Wolverine's Adamantium claws within the span of a few minutes. The more extensive the damage, the longer her reconfiguration program takes to repair her body.

Cyberpathy: Deathstrike is able to cybernetically interface her consciousness with external computer systems, allowing for direct data access to her brain's memory centers and granting her the ability to remotely operate such systems.

Abilities
LADY DEATHSTRIKE is a supremely skilled martial artist, considered an expert in the art of Kenjutsu and other samurai warrior skills. She is an accomplished pilot of various aircraft and seacraft, and is fluent in both Japanese and English

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE

Message to the CBM community:
To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!

Yeah "Hulk vs. Wolverine" was badass, if only that crew could make a series of either Wolverine or X-Men, I'd be the best Marvel cartoon of all time.

Always thought this character was a little odd. Don't forget, pollmaster, she does make an appearance in the Hulk vs. Wolverine movie too.

How do you think she picks her nose?
