HECTOR HAMMOND: Mental Master

"You live such an exciting life...I'm locked down in this cellar, unable to move, to do anything. Give me you memories. Not all of them but just...just a taste of what it's like."

Comic Book History

Who is HECTOR HAMMOND?
HECTOR HAMMOND is a DC super-villain with strong mental powers who occasionally appears in Green Lantern comics. John Broome and Gil Kane created HECTOR HAMMOND; the character first appeared in Green Lantern (Volume 2) #5. (1961)
First Appearance

HECTOR HAMMOND started out as a petty criminal laying low in the California hills when he discovered a glowing meteorite that has the ability to evolve life forms.

HECTOR HAMMOND would then willingly expose himself to the meteorite. The radiation causes his brain to grow to enormous size, granting him psionic powers as well as immortality in the process.

Hector unfortunately, had his body became immobilized and he loses the power to speak. Trapped in a motionless state, Hammond was still able to use his psionic powers to control the minds of others.

In a re-telling of Hal Jordan's early days as a Green Lantern, HECTOR HAMMOND claimed to be Carol Ferris' boyfriend. However, it was revealed that he is just a private consultant for Ferris Aircraft and that they had gone out to dinner, according to Carol, "on business".

In this version HECTOR HAMMOND inspected Green Lantern Hal Jordan's predecessor’s crashed aircraft, while investigating Hammond was affected by the meteorite fragment in its reactor. This leads to his brain growing bigger, and able to read minds. It is revealed that Hammond wants the power of a god in order to gain revenge on Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.

As Hector knowledge and power grows, his head grows as well to ridiculous-sized proportions.

During the "War of Light" storyline HECTOR HAMMOND swallowed the Orange Power Battery and became possessed by the entity Ophidian, physical embodiment of avarice, who has now given him much greater powers.

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE

Message to the CBM community:
To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not, please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie (though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!

Weird, I just read the Wiki on Hector Hammond right before seeing this. Pollmaster, you have some sort of a gift.

I would have pitted him against Leader for a headbutt challenge.

Hector Hammond is not DC's answer to The Leader. He pre-dates the Leader by 3 years. If anything, The Leader is Marvel's answer to Hector Hammond.

^He certainly is. What a cutie pie. <3

Yeah, Hector received some laughs at my theater as well but I think that was the point. He had quite a few hilariously 'creepy nerd' moments. I liked him. :)
