Comic Book History
Who is GANTHET?
GANTHET is a member of the ancient Guardians of the Universe. His first appearance was in the 1992 graphic novel Green Lantern: GANTHET's Tale. He was created by Larry Niven and John Byrne.
First Appearance
GANTHET's unusual characteristic is his "human-like" personality, which differs from most of the other Guardians who are very stern 'by-the-book' characters.
GANTHET is said to be a part of the Quintessence, a group of gods who oversee the universe in its entirety, though they hold special interest on Earth.
The Guardians lost their greatest Lantern (Hal Jordan) to "insanity" that went on a rampage and massacred the whole Green Lantern Corps, and destroyed their Central Power Battery. The Guardians decided to transfer all of their power to GANTHET, leaving him as the last remaining Guardian.
The Guardians are gone, and the Green Lantern Corps is destroyed, GANTHET created one last Green Lantern ring from the remains of the ring of Hal Jordan. GANTHET went to earth and gave this ring to Kyle Rayner
Later Green Lantern Kyle Rayner ascended to a godlike being known as Ion. Kyle traveled to the recently restored Oa to recharge the Central Power Battery. By doing so, he created a new set of Guardians, this time as small children. GANTHET became these new guardians’s "father figure".
GANTHET played a crucial role of resurrecting Hal Jordan; it was revealed that his "insanity" was due to his possession of the fear entity Parallax.
After the resurrection of Hal Jordan, GANTHET became possessed by the fear entity Parallax. He was soon freed thanks to combine efforts of the Earth Lanterns.
Later GANTHET will be banished from the Guardians of the Universe because of him embracing his "emotions". After his banishment, he formed the Blue Lantern Corps, which is powered by the "Hope" emotion.
GANTHET would later return with the Green Lantern's not as a guardian but as one of them.

To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not, please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!
