Comic Book History

Who is SCARECROW?
The SCARECROW is Dr. Jonathan Crane, a DC Comics supervillain mainly appearing in Batman books. SCARECROW first appeared in World's Finest Comics #3 (Fall 1941) and was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. He is a former psychiatrist who uses a variety of drugs and psychological tactics to exploit the fears and phobias of his adversaries.
First Appearance

In his initial appearance, Jonathan Crane was a professor of psychology. He was shunned by the other teachers for not dressing well, as he spent all his money on books. Crane was fired when he shot a gun in class, while teaching the psychology of fear.

His removal from his work is what prompted Crane to become the SCARECROW. He wanted to represent the combination of poverty and fear.

His turn to crime lead him to several encounters with Batman. Using the fear toxin formula to scare off the Dark Knight, unfortunately for SCARECROW the Batman knows a lot about fear and repeatedly has learned how to control his.

SCARECROW is often depicted as one of the more deranged criminals in Batman's rogues gallery, with a habit of speaking in nursery rhymes.

During the events of "War Games", the SCARECROW was briefly transformed into a murderous creature known as the Scarebeast. In this incarnation, the Scarebeast possessed super strength and endurance and could release an even stronger hallucinogenic gas. However, Batman later defeated him and he reverted into Jonathan Crane.

In the Blackest Night event he was briefly deputized in the fear inducing, yellow clad Sinestro Corps. However, Lex Luthor would later steal his yellow ring from him.

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE

Message to the CBM community:
To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not, please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!

Hell, that Superman/Batman of him is 'scary'! Lmao.

And his first appearance..."I am the Scarecrow! You are Frank Kendrick's..." "Who?"

That's just a bit funny mis-dialogue, but yeah the villain's just cool, him in BEGINS was awesome!

@WellDrawn
It was 1968, Filmation had the rights to do DC Cartoons, and a big Parents organization was causing networks to censor violent television. That's why he's so dumb-looking in that incarnation.

Scarecrow is an awesome character I liked him on the New Adventures of Batman and robin the best he was extremely creepy. Cillian Murphy was also pretty creepy as Scarecrow especially the scene when he poisons Falcone.

Pollmaster you should do Mr. Freeze next or Red Tornado. Vision would be good too.
