Smallville Going for Season 10

Say what you want about Smallville and how unfaithful it is in its adaptation, but you can't deny how strong the show's legs are...

Here's what Smallville exec Kelly Sounders has to say about the topic:

"We are really, really pushing for season 10," Souders said, adding, "I think the word still isn't out there that we're on Friday nights. So if people keep tuning in and telling their friends about it, I think [a 10th season] is quite likely."

She also commented about Clark wearing the iconic costume:

"We think 'Smallville' from the get-go was about how a young man turns into Superman. And it's really about the journey getting there. I can't make any promises, but if it was ever going to happen, it would be at the very end,"

Clark is not that young anymore so give him the damn suit already. As most people suggested give Clark the suit, change the name to Metropolis, then you could have another 9 season run.(You could even highlight other characters that you've introduced, seeing that there's a lot more superheroes coming from "METROPOLIS" than "SMALLVILLE")

	Oh [frick]...now they're going to drag it out even longer..! :( LEE's article showed that they have no intention of having him fly anytime soon and last weeks episode was pretty much a solo Green Arrow episode (which was quite good actually - Hartley would do well in a spin off...at least he has the damned costume!) 	Shouldn't they wait to see if season 9 SUCKS as bad as last season before they plan for 10? On the same note, they can make all the promises they want. 	veylre you do know the "your mom's basement" shtick invalidates your entire opinion right? As soon as you try and debase you detractors you lose all credibility. It's not a very difficult concept to grasp,if you use insults to back up your opinion all your doing is making yourself appear as if you have no intelligent way to defend yourself. 	forget spin offs and name changes, they should just progress it into a fully fledged Metropolis show, even if the title stays the same. As I said before, they never changed the name of 'Prison Break' when they actually broke out of prison. 'What's in a name, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet' etc. DC has masses of villains for Superman, Green Arrow and Justic League to do battle with. Why think about ending a show that people like, and has such a HUGE story set to draw from, when you can just open it up and create something that brings the idea of the DC universe to the masses. 	I'm glad that's settled. As for a 10th season, well if this season continues to be decent I'll try and forgive it for it's middle slump. I mean I think everyone here can agree that it was an amazing show when it started. It's pace was beautiful, it's use of meteor freak of the weak was a good way to show clark gaining his strength with out bucking cannon. However the freaks get old after they showed clark get all his powers except flight, that was their purpose they were a plot device. The writers seemed to lose their way then and floundered ultimately dropping the freaks in favor of favorite superman villains....that he isn't supposed to encounter until he's superman. This dramatic take off from cannon annoyed many fans, understandably so. However the writing has picked up and Clark has a purpose again this season. If it continues to pick up like it has I think a 10th season would be fine, but I think we should see his costume transition again to something more like superman's: say a switch from black to blue. Have him be feared by the public in black so he decides to be friendlier more open, he needs to learn that. thwhtGuardian - 10/29/2009, 11:17 PM

	@teabaged (shouldn't it be teabager, anyway...otherwise, you're just a sack of nuts)...as you've failed to notice, we've crossed paths on numerous other articles, yet i do frequent smallville posting most often...you seem to be at those "Mr Welling" posts equally YET comment 3x4 more frequently...hence the bookend awards you received a while back (if you recall)...so yes, i must have missed your reasons (must have gotten lost among the cheap boob images/intellectually void ramblings on why you don't watch smallville anymore, yet harass fans for the sport of it, then cry foul when confronted, i guess)...as for your family, someone has to be conCerned for them...;D...and the "N-Sync" cd's (ZING!)...hmm, don't recall ever owning any...got any spice girls or take that i could borrow instead? @thwhtGuardian...again, i agree...the last 2 episodes were stinkers, imo (especially roulette)...i, like many here, can't stand chloe (she's certainly not as unattractive as some make her out to be) AND i'm disappointed with clark not being more superman-like, yet...wish he'd do more fighting/rescuing than GA, too (it's not a spin-off show, yet)...although i have to admit, my exposure to superman was not as an adult, but as a kid...and was rediscovered thanks to smallville (started watching sometime during season 3)...i grew up with the superman movies (as most here seemed to do as well), but i wasn't as impressed with reeves or donner, either...especially II [quest4peace is unwatchable])...and most know my take on the yawner routh-singer xeroxed for us (yawn, sorry bout that)...having a young son helps me explore the mythos (mainly through the animated series and justice league cartoons) so the cannon argument is mostly irrelevant to the show (for me, anyway)...
