Hal Jordan's boss at Ferris Air, and future Star Sapphire, has been cast in Martin Campbell's Green Lantern

Blake Lively will play Carol Ferris, the female lead opposite Green Lantern played by Ryan Reynolds. Ferris runs her an aerospace company that hires the cocky test pilot Hal Jordan, the alter ego of Green Lantern (Reynolds).

Shooting for the big-budget film starts in March, using Louisiana as its location. Film will be released 17 June 2011.

Blake Lively is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.




Not really familiar with the actress, she doesn't come off as striking. Though I'm still positive that this movie will be spectacular.

she's going to look like a teenager next to reynolds.
I know there's supposed to be a slight age difference but reynolds is tn years older than her.

And I can't even dismiss it, it comes from the Hollywood Reporter which is generally pretty accurate.

This was a good week of news for the most part, now this. Talk about ending on a low note.

I'm still jazzed up for Green Lantern, but Lively seems so flavor of the month with Gossip Girl being popular.

I'm not doubting her skills as an actress, and she's definitely hot. But look at a picture of her, and then look at a picture of reynolds and then tell me you wouldn't call reynolds a creep if you saw him hitting on a girl who looked as young as lively looks. The age difference just looks odd to me.

agreed. i would do bad, bad things to her. i wouldnt even be able to look my mom in the eye without thinking ive somehow let her down after i was done with Blake.

I was looking for someone with a more mature presence, but who cares it's only the female lead to what could be DC's next be blockbuster. I really hope she impressed the pants off of someone.

I dont care how hot she is. And she is to damn fine btw. But she is no where near the actress she has to be to hold down this role. Please God let this be false. Has she ever read a comic book in her life? Im starting to think this movie will blow. Im loosing faith.

Gossip Girl huh? Well that sucks! I saw Lively on SNL a few weeks back and was not impressed. I think its a poor choice to let such baby face television actress handle a strong leading character in a potential franchise.

I suppose it'll be a wait and see kinda' thing though. I still think the movie will rock!

There is no denying that she is beautiful. But they needed to pick someone older. This woman is supposed to be Hal's boss and she looks more like his sister.

I liked the idea of Eva Green getting it. This sucks. This is turning into more of a teen movie was more cast picks are given. First Renolds and now this. Why not just make it a CW movie and please all the teens.

Accoding to IMDb stats, She's 22 years old with a film career that started in 1998, but was quiet till 2005. She starred in such films as "The SisterHood of the Traveling Pants" PTs. 1 and 2 and "Accepted." TV work is seemingly all on the show "Gossip Girl". Nothing stellar or noteworthy in my estimation, but she certainly caught someone's eye enough for them to gamble with her casting.

I know Carol inherits the family business at a young age, but lively looks like a teenager...that's a little too young. And she looks even younger next to reynolds.

Alright folks calm down. My immediate reaction also is to start wretching and hurl my monitor out the nearest window, but it isn't as bad as that. Blake is actually a decent actress if you can tolerate the sort of work she typically does. I have seen plenty with her, compliments of my better half, and I can couch for this girl in terms of her skill and potential. What worries me most is how friggin' young she is! It is quite a stretch.

hey guys i'll be the first to tell you that blake lively is definitely less than ideal... out of the five we saw originally she was the first one that i said they would never choose. but right now im gunna have to say let's roll with it ya, maybe lively will surprise us and be perfect with the role. Green Lantern is my favorite super hero, and i want this movie to succeed sooooo badly. She isn't a death sentence just yet ya know, and granted she was kinda funny in Accepted. With the crew they have so far i think things will work out quite well. just sayin tho ya know... any thoughts

@Multi-Ok I'll admit in the moment i did kind of speak stupidly. But i was never a fan of Ryan Renolds and this girl has only been good in Accepted and she didn't do much in that movie either. There are so many better people for the the role of Carol. Green Lantern is my favorite character behind Batman and i just want it to be perfect and so far it isnt.

Renolds should have just stayed Deadpool but i guess he might be able to do this. I'm still pumped for this movie but i think they need to make better casting choices.

I'll keep an open and optimistic mind until I see the movie, because I have total faith in Campbell and Reynolds, but I'm still very disappointed with this casting.

I'm hoping Blake will prove that she has plenty of talent in Green Lantern/

And hopefully they have a real "wow!" choice planned for Sinestro.

Yeah, I'm not going to hate on the movie, it just comes as a shocker. I can't wait until we find out who sinestro is.
