Tim Robbins has joined the cast of Martin Campbell's Green Lantern, which stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular hero and Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, his love interest.

Robbins will play the role of Senator Hammond, the disapproving father of Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard). Hector Hammond becomes infused with psychic powers and thus becomes one of the film's villains.


Great actor I guess he adds quality to this project.

Anyway, Tim Robbins is a tremendous actor! Green Lantern's cast is looking like Thor's almost but not as epic.

Multi@ lol I was expecting an actual article/thread on it and didn't want to infringe on other articles. You have pull here so I see you handled it fine. ;-)

I mentioned it on the ESPN/Ironman 2 article after people were commenting when they were going to see a trailer and after I posted the link no one even acknowledged the fact the trailer was out today. I figured it would be the hot news of the day.

Great News! Tim Robbins is an amazing actor. I've been waiting for so long to see him in another big movie, and it doesn't get better than DC's first major character movie that isn't Supes or Bats.

I'm a little bummed that Hector Hammond is probably the main villain.That means the majority of the movie will be on Earth.They probably won't spend that much time in space.

Tim Robbins is an AWESOME actor so he definitely adds a bit more star power to the cast.

DDD, man you live in a different world than I do, I'm still laughed at by all my students about being a comic book guy. Even though half of them tell me they loved Ironman and Batman, which i'm slightly concerned about seeing as though most of them were in 5th or 6th grade at the time.

Wasn't Twoface and Raza a bit too much for kids of that age? Ah well, parents, what can ya do?

Not a fan of Hector Hammond. Tim Robins is a good actor but I wish the main villain was someone else. Then again if he is not the main villain maybe they are setting it up for a sequel or he will play a smaller part like Two-Face in DK. But too many villains can be a problem as well. Specially for the first movie, where you have to tell the origin story and still try to fit everYone else without feeling rushed or not giving the supporting characters enough attention. Not sure what to make of this news just yet ...

I thought that LEGION was going to be the main villain. Surely, Campbell must know that it'd be pretty lame for HH to be the main and only villain.

@BrotherJohnson: Martin Campbell have already said in an interview that we will see Hector Hammond transform into a villian, but that there will be some other evil. At least that is how I remember it. It was posted a while back, but I don't think you need to worry. Campbell just know what he is doing, I have complete confidence in this guy.

AWESOME! I really hope Dr.Hammond is the main villain and Hal aka RYan is learning how to use his ring and Senestro aka Mark is teaching him how to kick ass via RING. and in the SEQUAL sinestro turns evil it makes the relationship between Sinestro and Hal Rich and Nice and healthy so when they turn even though were expecting it we see so really GREAT ACTING between the to and Hal can feeel really BETRAYED mhmm im so excited!!
