"BLAZE"

SERIES MISSION STATEMENT

"BLAZE" is an hour long drama centered around Marvel Comics Character Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. The heart of this story is self sacrifice. John Blaze was a young man who sold his soul for love. He made a sacrifice for a love that would be denied. Essentially Blaze is an underdog given a curse; damned to be the Devil's Bounty Hunter.

Unlike some characters his story has a mixture of lesson, truth, tragedy, and bad ass action. What fans love most, is he isn't a sissy, he gets knocked down, he has a few cold ones and tries again. Just because he's haunted doesn't mean he's going to be a saint.

Johnny at his core is like every other working class human being. He's got something he has to do, doesn't mean he likes it. No illusions about it his life is dramatic as hell. The different types of drama that encircles Johnny attracts views of all sexes and ages; but by no means, no stretch of any imagination is this a kids show.

Ghost Rider isn't a kids character, he's a killer despite Johnny's feelings he can't stop the Ghost Rider from fulfilling his duty. The Rider works with Blaze, The Rider wants justice as much Blaze does, the duo in one represents human duality, double-standards, and differing opinions many themes to be explored in the series.

The series it self will use it's drama to talk to the audience, letting them set out their own idea of what they would've done with examples given by various characters. Each supporting character represents a part of Johnny that adds to each decision he makes and each choice he forces the Rider to make.

No bones about it Ghost Rider is a hard hitter, a bestial Anti-Hero. If you're scum, and you cross his path most likely going to be beaten to or close to death. While the Ghost Rider part of Johnny is a killer Johnny has a clear disgust for it and often believes in second chances.

In all the hellish glory the series is ultimately about human conditioning, Blaze is the people. The Drama surrounding is life. He fights for it everyday like any Human being, and that is what makes this series powerful, being Human. As Johnny would say "If you walk away from a problem, you'll start running from another."

STRUCTURE
The structure of the series is a natural 4-act structure.

TEASER/PROLOGUE: the teaser will serve as a foreshadowing to the first act setting the mood and the feeling of the episode.

ACT-ONE: will serve as introduction to the Problem and will grip the audience's interest.

ACT-TWO: This is the point in the episode where the main characters initial attempt to solve the problem shown in ACT-ONE earlier but will folly due to the character's narrow view of solving the problem.

ACT-THREE: This is the act where the main character will look at the situation and find the inspiration to topple the problem and begin setting the plan into motion.

ACT-FOUR: The Final act where shit goes down. Where the Rider and Blaze work together to fight the problem.

RULES AND RESTRICTIONS

1.) Ghost Rider and Blaze are different conflicting personalities - Each are separate entities in their own right, They act different posture different, They have different views. Writing the series we should treat them both with respect, Overtime they will unify but we're starting out early, which means they're gonna disagree but they share a body. It's our job to make sure each script develops their characters more while also treating them with proper respect and identifying their differences.

2.) Action - Action is all good and fun, but we're on a small budget. We have FX but we can't cheat the Audience. So we won't do mindless pointless action, If we're doing an action scene on the show it's got to have a point (E.G. final battle, or to show Ghost Rider's Dominance) But most importantly we must make the Action a fluent part of the story. We can't just THROW in an action scene it needs to be a natural occurrence.

3.) Devil's advocate - The devil (known as Mephistopheles/Mephisto in our series) is the most notable of Ghost Rider's enemies but he doesn't have to be involved in every episode or storyline, some story lines can be done without Mephisto, While he can still be elemental let other villains take spotlight.

4.) Friends and Enemies Welcome - Good series are good not only because of a strong main character but a strong supporting cast and strong antagonist. Johnny Blaze has a heavy amount of both in his life. Enough to be free to pick and choose what we want and what we don't.

5.) Death - Basically the oddest law in any Comic Book Series or Comic Based Television series. Despite Johnny's whole connection to death we need to keep respect to the rule. Not everyone will be permitted to do as Johnny does, although if we're also staying true to the comics one every few seasons won't let it be as watered down. BUT we should respect Death and see it as a new way to introduce new characters.

THE DUTY, and identity OF THE GHOST RIDER

The Ghost Rider has a solemn duty, He is the Devil's bounty hunter. Souls that are ready for hell or escaped it are his to collect. He goes out in the night in search for the sinful to bring them into hell. He is a killer a bringer of sadistic justice. To become a Ghost Rider is too damn yourself to an eternity of hell and duty. Every night you will become the Ghost Rider. It his his duty.

Ghost Rider is a powerful being, originally named Zarathos. Some believe he was an angel, other believe a fallen angel who battled Mephisto for domain over hell. Either way Mephisto was able to enslave and torture Zarathos and has imprisoned him in the blood of the Kale. A priest who sold his soul to save his brother's life. Passed down into the BLAZE Family and eventually reaching into Johnny's Brother and sister's adoptive family, The Ketchs as each generation was doomed by fate to make the deal.

Ghost Rider is a demon with powers, more than just the natural few. Aside from Augmented strength the Rider also is equipped with a power to throw Hellfire, or use weapons to disperse it. Along with that he also uses weapons and is joined by his trademark Motorcycle, once in Rider mode the Hellcycle.

Johnny sold his soul and it is the reason he is forever doomed to be the Rider. While he might break from Mephisto's rule he will always put the damned back where they belong, even if Blaze doesn't enjoy the job the Rider does.

SETTINGS

As Johnny is always riding from place to place there are few places that are recurring to him, but there are still some. But his friends do have places they might frequently return to helping the supporting cast develop.

1.) MACK'S GARAGE - A close friend to Johnny especially when he was a younger lad in the circus. Johnny works for him as a mechanic as time goes on.

2.) MOREAU'S CHAPEL - A small chapel where Priest Moreau had found Johnny Blaze and helped him discover Zarathos. He is a friend of Blaze and does his best to help him.

3.) CARETAKER'S GROUNDS - A cemetery taken care off by CARTER SLADE, now going by the alias CARETAKER. The ground is considered holy land keeping Slade safe from the likes of any weak Demons or Mephisto himself.

4.) HELL - Mephisto's domain. While it not be a very well visited place it will be seen. It his the home of eternal suffering. It is were Johnny is doomed to live should he ever be killed.

5.) HEAVEN - The palace of eternal peace, the damned are forced to watch those worth enter the house of peace as part of their torture.

6.) SIMPSON CIRCUS - Circus were Johnny's family once worked. Still operating under the hands of Roxanne's brother. Johnny visits from Time to time, working and helping out best he can.

-THE GHOST RIDER - Skeletal like body, claws, and hair of fire he is The Demonic spirit known as Zarathos. The only real element he has in common with Blaze is a body. The Rider is a sick, twisted Demon big on irony and black comedy while being a vicious and successful bounty hunter. He is trapped inside Blaze until night in the presence of Evil where he goes after the damned and the escaped to bring them into hell. The Rider is like a shark and doesn't stop till one of you is dead. LEAD ROLE!
JUSTIN HARTLEY – Height: 6’3”, Age: 35, (Smallville, Chuck, Castle): He’s one of the best actors to come from Smallville. He’s good at playing conflicted, He’s decent with action and can stay longterm for a series, for a TV. Johnny Blaze he’s probably one of the best. He really fits the look and style of the Johnny Blaze for my series. I think he could have lots of fun with the Ghost Rider element and it definitely would be a challenge for him as an actor, which would be an attractive quality for any actor.

ROXANNE SIMPSON - (CAUCASIAN; 20's-30’s) Drop dead gorgeous mixed with six kinds of sexy. She grabs a man's attention in every way, and to top it all off is a skilled Mechanic same as Johnny. She is also Johnny's beautiful fiancee. Having secluded into Johnny's arm moreso after her fathers death she vows to help Johnny until together they find a cure for what has happened to him. She is similar t the ride in the vein she won't stop until Johnny is safe. SUPPORTING/RECURRING ROLE!
LAUREN COHAN – Height: 5’8”, Age: 30, (The Walking Dead, Chuck, Vampire Diaries): This model turned actress was perfect for how I envisioned Roxanne. She’s got all the elements that would make a good Roxanne: Looks and Talent. She has what looks like a Midwestern charm. She is great for the TV. version of Roxanne!

MACK LOGUE - (CAUCASIAN; EARLY 40's) A hefty man short of being fat, knowledgeable of all things that have an engine. A mechanic who's garage is a time to time safe haven for Johnny and Roxanne, having been friends of theirs from their days as a carny. Mack knows about Johnny's problem and does best he can to help. SUPPORTING/RECURRING ROLE!
MICHAEL CHIKLIS – Height: 5’8½”, Age: 49, (The Shield, The Commish): Mack is based on the character played by Donald Logue in the movie, but I wanted to change actors and change the character a bit. Chiklis I think is a good recast. This would be a new role for him as he’d be playing an mechanic. I think he could pull it off he’s good at comedic timing and believable as a caring person. He’s a bit older than the character as I re-imagined but Chiklis doesn’t look 49 so I think he is still good.

MOREAU - (AFRICAN FRENCH; 30's) A handsome man with Chilled style. A man who's taken a vow to god and has damn well lived up to it. He loves three things, a bible, a woman, and wine. He discovered a cowering Blaze hiding in his church as he transformed from the Rider to himself. Moreau has dedicated himself to helping Blaze rid himself of the curse considering it God's true calling for him. SUPPORTING/RECURRING ROLE!
PHIL MORRIS – Height: 6’1”, Age: 53, (Smallville, Atlantis the Lost Empire): He’s a great actor that’s been around for a while. When recasting Moreau he was my first choice for the role. He’s got an onscreen presence and a career as VA that could really sell the French accent. Moreau was a character I wanted to incorporate into the series because he was a memorable character from the film and Morris really seems to fit the character even for a TV. budget.

CARETAKER/CARTER SLADE - (OLD MAN; 50's) An old man who's life stems from the time of the old west. having noticeably aged to look 50. He knows Blaze's trouble all to well and helps the ways he can. He often acts as a sage helping Johnny through advice. SUPPORTING/RECURRING ROLE!
BRYAN CRANSTON – Height: 5’10½”, Age: 56, (Breaking Bad, John Carter, Drive): Cranston is an actor that wouldn’t commonly be chosen for Carter Slade or Caretaker but I can see it. Cranston has always had the look of a sage. He’s a fantastic actor that can just deliver his material better than anyone else and has a very wise tone to his voice. I think the material would be very interesting for him and would ultimately draw him into the role.

DANNY KETCH - (CAUCASIAN,LATE TEENS, EARLY 20's) Handsome, brash. Full of attitude, Johnny's younger Brother, believed to have died in the same crash that took their mother's life, actually survived and has helped raise his sister once adopted by the Ketch's. Time will come for him to make the deal to save someones life and become a Ghost Rider and Hunt a Brother he doesn't remember. SUPPORTING/RECURRING ROLE!
THOMAS DEKKER –Height: 5’10”, Age: 24, (Terminator The Sarah Conner Chronicles, Star Trek Generations, Heroes): I wanted the series to have a different type of Dan Ketch. I wanted him to be the youthful Ghost Rider he was in the 90’s because that’s a character that still has room to grow. Thomas Dekker’s name was a first thought for Danny. He’s a good actor who’s familiar with TV and with Film. I think it would be a real challenge for him to play the Ghost Rider part of Danny but I also think he could give a unique spin on it and making it a different portrayal than Hartley’s style of the Ghost Rider.

BARBARA KETCH - (CAUSCASIAN, LATE TEENS) Beautiful, young, attractive sister of Danny and Johnny. She is close to Danny's age and remembers as little of her mother as Danny does. She has the feeling of having outgrown and attempts to venture the world with her brother at her side. but when she is put in mortal peril Danny sells his soul to save the only family he knows. Once he becomes the Ghost Rider Danny becomes even more protective of his sister. SUPPORTING/RECURRING ROLE!
ALESSANDRA TORRESANI – Height: 5’3”, Age: 24, (Caprica, American Horror Story): She’s a relatively young actress who’s got a bright career ahead of her. I think she’d be a great addition as Barbara Ketch. She’s pretty much pitch perfect for the role.

HENRY SIMPSON - (CAUCASIAN, 20's) Roxanne's brother. Handsome lade who took control of the carnival after their father passed away. He is good friends with Johnny and understood when Roxanne left to help him. He helps any he can while managing his business. SUPPORTING/RECURRING ROLE!
MILO VENTIMIGLIA – Height: 5’10”, Age: 35, (Heroes, Rocky Balboa): Henry is an original character for the series. I wanted to give Roxanne a family connection and explain why the Simpson Circus would still be Running with both of Roxanne’s parents deceased. Milo was an easy choice for it he looks like he could run a carnival and does have small resemblances to my Roxanne pick.

SERIES ANTAGONISTS

MEPHISTO - (EARLY 70'S) He's suave in every manner his look is intimating as hell and he has a silver tongue. Mephisto is in all manners the Devil and the man who bonded the tortured Zarathos to Johnny's soul. He runs hell in all it's glory and attempts to get Johnny back under his control once he breaks away. RECURRING ROLE!
IAN McSHANE – Height: 5’9”, Age: 70 (Deadwood, Kings, Death Race): Without a doubt one of the most well known actors of nerdom. Fans all over love his acting and for good reason, his level of skill is equal only to the likes of Gary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis. He’s done TV before and I doubt anyone could disagree at the idea of him playing Mephisto –The most evil s.o.b. to walk hell and earth. McShane is a legend and is perfect for this role.

BLACKHEART - (EARLY 30's) A being created by Mephisto in order to create a perfect son, Blackheart is a tendril monster hell bent on bring together both worlds. Unlike his father he has yet to become a fallen angel and therefore can freely walk on Holy Grounds. RECURRING ROLE!
SAM WITWER – Height: 6’1”, Age: 35, (Smallville, Being Human, The Mist): I know a lot of people would have him as Johnny and honestly he was dangerously close. I like him as an actor but I like his performances when he’s a villain. Despite the b.s. writing the doomsday angle in Smallville could’ve been an interesting one. Witwer could’ve been great and I think he could play a damn good monster as Blackheart.
THE HIDDEN - (MIXED AGE) Blackhearts army of demons he uses to distract the Rider in an attempt to create Hell on EARTH. RECURRING ROLES!

ABIGOR - (30's) The Wind demon a member of Blackhearts deadly minions. He has a sadistic love for suffocating his victims.
MISHA COLLINS – Height: 5’11”, Age: 36, (Supernatural, Girl Interrupted, Divine): I wanted a character that could be heavily re-modeled an a Actor who can really reinvent the character to a likable villain which is something I have full faith in Misha’s ability as an actor.

GRESSIL - (20's) A demon from the earth he has a strong head and is usually easy to piss off but can use the Earth as his weapon.
ALAN RITCHSON –Height: 6’2”, Age:28, (Rex, Blue Mountain Castle, Smallville): This is a simple role really, He’s got a size to him that shows he could play a big guys that smashes things, he’s a decent actor who would be able to take the character and add to him since the film version of the character was literally a hallow shell.

WALLOW - (30's) The Water demon Blackheart's Right Hand man, he's got the sadistic tastes of a pedophile and get's off drowning his victims.
NAVEEN ANDREWS – Height: 5’9”, Age: 33, (Lost, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, The English Patient): I wanted an actor who was very different from the others in the hidden but also someone who looks like they can take shape. His style in his performances are what inspired me to cast him as Wallow, He’s got a crisp style to himself and a very fluent and flowing movement that speaks out.

LILIN THOMAS/BLACKOUT - (40's) Once a vicious Gangster that fell by the Rider's hand Mephisto bartered his soul in exchange for his service in recapturing the Rider. With his new Vampiric appearance he was given the name BLACKOUT. RECURRING ROLE!
LUKE GOSS – Height: 6’1”, Age: 44, (Hellboy II The Golden Army, Blade II): He’s an actor who’s almost perfected villainy, having played Nomak in Blade 2 and Nuada in Hellboy 2 he’s experienced all sides of Villainy to really hammer out a different type of villain. Blade 2 and Hellboy 2 are really all the reason needed to cast Luke as Blackout.

MICHAEL BADILLINO/VENGEANCE - (40's) A U.S. F.B.I. Agent hellbent on finding Blaze on the implication of a series of murders all caused by the Ghost Rider. When he finally couldn't take defeat anymore he made a deal with Mephisto so that he could have the power of a Ghost Rider, the violent change transformed Badillino into the monster Vengeance. RECURRING ROLE!
PAUL BLACKTHORNE – Height: 6’ 3½”, Age: 43, (The Dresden Files, 24): He’s an actor who I can just see as Vengeance. He’s got height, skill, and can still do action. He’s got the essentials to play the series version of Badillino and do a damn good job at it.

REVEREND STYGE/THE SIN EATER - (40's or 50's) A psychopathic Reverend who attempts to cleanse the world killing one sinner at a time. Unknown his skills are deep into Black Magic. He is a powerful in Dark Magic and a grave threat to anyone who gets in his way. RECURRING ROLE!
ROBERT PATRICK – Height: 6’, Age: 54, (Die Hard 2: Die Harder, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Burn Notice): An amazing actor by all standards. I wanted him as Styge from the very beginning. He’s got a look and aggressiveness in his acting that really shines as how Styge should be portrayed. No doubt that he is a good possibility seeing as he is an Actor who goes for Material over salary.

DEATHWATCH - (40's) A demon escaped from hell in the form of Stephen Lords. Taking a role as DEATHWATCH leader of the mob. He plans to slowly pass out a new, highly addictive drug that will slowly steal the souls of everyone who uses it. RECURRING ROLE!
JAMES MARSTERS – Height: 5’9½”, Age: 50, (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel): if anyone can play Deathwatch the way this series envisions him it’s Marsters. He’s a classically trained actor who’s played many many villains. He’s got a sleek style to him that really speaks for itself. He’s definitely an actor many people love to see and would be a great actor to see in a Ghost Rider TV series.

ZADKIEL - (40's) Zadkiel was an angel of heaven who sided with Lucifer in his rebellion. Before the rebellion ended Zadkiel betrayed Lucifer and aided in bashing him from heaven. As punishment for siding with Lucifer, Zadkiel and his black legion was denied entrance to the high heavens and placed in charge of heaven's black ops. His mission included combating hell's incursions on Earth and keeping humanity's evil in check. RECURRING ROLE!
MICHAEL C. HALL – Height: 5’10½”, Age: 41, (Dexter, Six Feet Under): Briefly considered for Mephisto the idea of him as Zadkiel had stuck it self in my mind. He’s very perfect for the fallen angel and for what his plot is you need an actor as skilled as Michael C. Hall to encompass the darkness in that character.

Pretty damn good, dude!! I'm working on a Ghost Rider cast myself. It focuses on an older Blaze. Anyway, I love Witwer as Blackheart and McShane as Mephisto.

you have too many Smallville alumni. The idea is great, however.

@Ager I try not too look at the similarities of their resume but just go by actor, I probably should've done more research to find a more diverse cast though. left a comment on your GR story and Cast

Great Bible!
Your best one to date, honestly!

I also love the cast!
Lauren is perfection!

I think Justin could pull it off!
He may be iffy to some, but he could totally pull it off!

First all good work on this whole thing, I like a lot of your picks but not for their roles, just not really feeling it. I do like the idea though! :)

It's interesting... I'm also working on a rather lengthy "mock-pitch" along with a series bible for a Ghost Rider tv series, and we've taken the character two different directions, as far as story, but I really like your ideas!
