More On The Black Cat Story: Search For New Female Lead Confirmed!

It seems that Sam Raimi is definitely on the look out for a new female lead..be she Black Cat or someone else...

A scooper over at Slashfilm has sent them a link confirming that British actress Romola Garai has auditioned for a lead role in Spider Man 4. Garai is a 27-year-old British actress who starred in Amazing Grace, The Other Man and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Its still not been confirmed that Black cat is the character she is up for, but it seems a likely possibility given the details from the other story.

Garai shared the details about what she was up to last week, which included a video audition for the latest Spidey:

"Love is at the root of everything good that has ever happened and will happen.” This phrase swam into focus as I moved up the escalator at Oxford Circus tube on Tuesday morning on my way to put myself “on tape” for a part in Spider-Man 4. This is the acting equivalent of the London Marathon in that it’s important to try your best as long as you understand that you aren’t going to win."



Could Garai and Rachel McAdams be up for the same part of Black Cat? Again, nothing is definite on that front. Keep an eye out for further developments.

Hmm... Black Cat seems kind of worthless. No superpowers. How will she keep up with spiderman? But I'm glad to see a love interest besides emaciated MJ.

hmm I dunno about this one.. she's cute but she doesn't look athletic enough.. neither does McAdam's I know they will have stunt doubles and all that but judging from all the leaping and jumping and scaling buildings Black Cat is supposed to be able to do it would seem she'd need to look athletic.. I remember watching Cat Woman with Halle Berry and none of it looked believeable.. now there were tons of other reasons that movie sucked but Halle not being believable was a major one..

What about Jessica Biel?She's not the strongest actress, but neither is Kirsten Dunst.She very athletic, and has one of the best bodies in Hollywood.She would look great in the costume.

Hey guys how about this: What if instead of Black Cat,she's(Romola Garai) possibly filling the role for Gwen Stacy. I haven't heard anything about Bryce Dallas Howard returning to the role as Gwen Stacy,if you guys have let me know, but I think she could be a great Gwen Stacy, not that I'm opposing the idea of her as Black Cat, think it's great, just thinking about the "What If's".

lots of very good suggestions here. If they want to match her to the look she has in the comics they might want to go with someone who is kind of "top heavy" as they say.


I disagree with Tea about Gymnasts.
Thay are always very cut looking at least. Visually it's the kind of fitness level achievable by people who play tennis every day or basketball. Extreme constant high impact aerobic activity has this effect in every sport like that provided that the person gets enough protien.

But anyway that is a fairly easy look to achieve so whoever the actress gets to train her for the movie will probably get her to the fitness level needed. I am not going to worry about that aspect.

let's not forget ladies and gents that in a Hollywood full of ravishing modelesque women, Raimi chose Kirsten Dunst to play MJ. I doubt raimi's choice will be as good as any of your picks.
