John Malkovitch To Play The Vulture In Spider-Man 4 ...Anne Hathaway Confirmed?

Yes, it's Spidey 4 rumor time at CBM! But Movieline is claiming that their inside sources are accurate on this latest news.
This from Movieline:

"Movieline has confirmed with sources close to the film that Raimi’s sequel is circling John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway to play Spider-Man’s adversaries, and neither evildoer is quite what you might have expected.

If negotiations proceed according to plan, Malkovich will be playing Spider-Man’s nemesis the Vulture, who packs a punch despite his advanced age. The Vulture is able to fly through the air and brandish his sharp wings to attack Spider-Man."

As for Hathaway...

"The 27-year-old actress is currently the top choice for Felicia Hardy, who’d been long-rumored as one of the new characters in this installment. (Other names bandied about for the role included Julia Stiles, Rachel McAdams, and Romola Garai.) However, unlike in the comic books, this Felicia Hardy doesn’t transform into the Black Cat. Instead, Raimi’s Felicia will become a brand-new superpowered figure called the Vulturess."

I know, sounds like a load of Schumaker doesn't it? They go on to say that the reason the character of The Lizard was dropped is "The suits simply can’t bring themselves to sign off on such an odd-looking enemy — instead, they’d rather closer to villains with a human face." This part I can believe. Since Dylan Baker is already confirmed to reprise the role of Curt Connors, again, sounds fishy.

What do you folks think?

I want the Lizard!!!!!!!!
mgauge - 12/8/2009, 7:15 AM
Yep, raimi is already messing this one up and it hasn't even began filming yet. Oh the insanity. The vulturess what load of crap is that.

Ror@ good find though
mounted88 - 12/8/2009, 7:19 AM
lol ummmmmk... yeah not buying it yall

yeah deffo great find Ror... It just seems too stupid to be real. VULTRESS? ANNE HATHAWAY?

SixSixteen - 12/8/2009, 7:19 AM
Good find Ror!

I've got mixed feelings here.....I think John Malkovich is awesome, and seeing him as the Vulture would be pretty sweet.

It bothers me that they're talking about not using the Lizard though, he's a great Spidey villain!

And Felicia as Vulturess? mounted said it right, that IS a load of crap. If Felicia Hardy's in it & she doesn't become or at least gets set up to become the Black Cat, I'm done with Sam Raimi.

PS - Check out my Captain America article in Fan Fic! :)
Runefyst - 12/8/2009, 7:23 AM
Malkovitch could make the Vulture a little more interesting. I don't understand why they have to rape Felicias character. Just make her The Black Cat if you use her at all. If you want a new villainess, create a new character entirely. May as well make Tony Stark into The Hulk.
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 7:23 AM
This is getting stupid!!!
jman1977 - 12/8/2009, 7:26 AM
Is Brett Ratner walking around in a Sam Raimi-suit?
ElBicho - 12/8/2009, 7:30 AM
Tis. I can just about buy that Malkovitch will be The Vulture..but there is no way they would just decide to make Felicia Hardy his daughter and the Vulturess! Although, there has been rumors of the father/daughter villains before. Still, not swallowing this without some proof.
RorMachine - 12/8/2009, 7:30 AM
this is just rumor! dont believe any of this shit people. did SCHUMACHER take over SPIDER-MAN? lolololol
dellamorte1872 - 12/8/2009, 7:31 AM
"...Felicia Hardy doesn’t transform into the Black Cat. Instead, Raimi’s Felicia will become a brand-new superpowered figure called the Vulturess." What the hell! I call B.S., if there is no confirmation from Marvel than this is not happening.
SirPrize - 12/8/2009, 7:34 AM
I still think Raimi is leaking this crap to piss us off.
John as the Vulture is great, but I don't think the vultress will happen.
Stubbyswof - 12/8/2009, 7:36 AM
I hate the Vulture. I know he's a classic character and all but I just alays thought the idea of this little old man squaring off against Spider - Man seemed ridiculous.

I love John Malkovich, but even he couldn't make me want to see Vulture in a movie
SixSixteen - 12/8/2009, 7:37 AM
You would think that Marvel would have some say so, on the total revamping of a character wouldn't you?
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 7:37 AM
Nothing mentioned if this came from Raimi. I wouldn't blame him for this. The Vulture was a decent villian back in the 70's. Now he would just look like a 'D' villian. They can do better than the Vulture.
SirPrize - 12/8/2009, 7:38 AM
It would be pretty hypocritical of Malkovich to end up as the Vulture. I remember reading an article way back when the first Spiderman rolled around and he was rumored as playing the Green Goblin. He shot that rumor down, though, stating something along the lines of 'these types of movies being beneath him', essentially. Actually, here's a link: http://movies.ign.com/articles/034/034468p1.html

imnotwearinghockeypants - 12/8/2009, 7:40 AM
Vulturess? Oh sweet Jesus.
invalensname - 12/8/2009, 7:43 AM
@ pants Money talks.
Stubbyswof - 12/8/2009, 7:51 AM
I think that a movie with Vulture would be ok (there are a lot of better choices - Electro or Scorpion for example) and Malkovitch is a decent choice to play the character but if Felicia Hardy isnt Black Cat and is insead "Vulturess" then I will not go and see this movie - I can cope with them making minor changes but that is one step too [frick]ing far!
JoshW - 12/8/2009, 7:51 AM
vulturess? this cant be real. please god NO!!!!!!
Makiveli21 - 12/8/2009, 7:52 AM
vulturess? this cant be real. please god NO!!!!!!
Makiveli21 - 12/8/2009, 7:52 AM
LIZARD all the way. They been dangling him there for 3 films, c'mon already.
SuperPowered - 12/8/2009, 7:52 AM
@Hawksblueyes

not really, what about deadpool?
Johno - 12/8/2009, 7:52 AM
Johno: good point but slightly different scenario.
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 7:56 AM
I read that article, Pants.. I don't think he's dissing CBM's excactly. I think he just prefers highly artistic, edgy films with high drama so that he can really get into them.
Acting is an art and he is an artist. If what they are offering him doesn't in his view give him the chance to do his thing satisfactorily then he will probably reject it.
SixSixteen - 12/8/2009, 7:58 AM
Great actor, terrible character...give the fans (us!!!) what we want damnit!
davidzuck - 12/8/2009, 8:03 AM
Pants: I followed your link and read the article. If you read the whole thing he goes on to say ( not in so many words) that these are not artistic movies, so in order to do them his price is alot higher and the studio wouldn't meet that price at the time. In other words, for the right amount he can overlook any artistic shortcomings the film may have. LOL
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 8:07 AM
this is a load of crap
IronMarvel - 12/8/2009, 8:10 AM
I prefer to see the Wrecking Crew.
SirPrize - 12/8/2009, 8:13 AM
@ darth and hawks, clearly green is the artist's color of choice. He called CBM's business propositions. That's a slight, I don't care who you are. Technically, 99% of movies made are business props intended to make money for all involved, even your crappy art house pics. Dick wad.
imnotwearinghockeypants - 12/8/2009, 8:25 AM
I WANT THE LIZARD WTF, WTF...????
GUNSMITH - 12/8/2009, 8:30 AM
I can't fault him for that. If they offered me the right money, I would play a transexual midget boxer with no arms or legs.
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 8:32 AM
Heh heh, I'm not surprised about the Lizard. He could never be the main villain in a movie; a Lizard cameo is more likely. He's just not "human" enough.

I'm not a big fan of Black Cat, but totally freaking up her character is just plain STUPID IMHO! Regardless, I think we'll see Felicia as the cat sometime in this movie or in the future.

As far as the Vulture goes... I'm not too excited about him as the main villain. He's just not that interesting. Prior to the movie's release, I just don't see him generating the kind of buzz Doc Oc, Venom, and Sandman were able to create.

I'm really hoping this is just some kind of deception on Raimi's part.
Macksimus - 12/8/2009, 8:34 AM
Hawksblueyes - you do that tranny midget thingy and I'll pick you up after work. I'm bringing my duffel bag. :D
SirPrize - 12/8/2009, 8:34 AM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Knowing that so many rumors have already been out, this can't be true. Sam Raimi please don't be stupid. Hire somebody who knows Spiderman comics
Fartman - 12/8/2009, 8:34 AM
ODD LOOKING?ODD LOOKING????THIS IS SPIDERMAN...HELLOOOOOOOOOOO, KNOCK KNOCK IDIOTS, SPIDERMAN..ALL THE VILLIANS LOOK ODD DUM-DUMS
GUNSMITH - 12/8/2009, 8:35 AM
He played in Eragon, not much of an art house flick and we seen how that turned out.
Stubbyswof - 12/8/2009, 8:37 AM
I think they're just trolling. After the failure that was Spiderman 3, Raimi realizes he lost the trust of the community. He's learned a lesson from hyping up the community and setting them up for disappointment.

I'll bet all of this is a clever distraction to keep us buzzing about the movie without any real clue as to what decisions have or have not been made.
NotCCA - 12/8/2009, 8:37 AM
SirPrize: Don't forget to fill that bag with money my friend. And bring a skateboard, I won't be able to get arround too well.

I am a method actor after all.

I the Lizard is not in it. I'm going to be pisses. I'm don't giva a rats ass about the vulture he blows donkey nutz. If they wanted a human face just add in Kraven. Stupid suits
StrangemannX09 - 12/8/2009, 8:40 AM
Can't be true
Peteyparker - 12/8/2009, 8:41 AM
i love malkovich, but i don't want to see the vulture. what a lame character
CorndogBurglar - 12/8/2009, 8:42 AM
god danmit sam is gonna [frick] up another spider-man movie..........can't spidr-man just get a new director
Nightwing09 - 12/8/2009, 8:43 AM
Stubby: They were expecting Eragon to be a blockbuster. They also got Jerremy Irons to do the movie, and I'm sure he and Malkovich were well paid. Problem was, they went and raped the whole damn story and the movie was crap.Huge flop.
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 8:44 AM
God I hope your right, NotCCA. I was finally starting to warm up to the idea of the vulture... and Jon Malkovich would make the role interesting, but that was because we had Lizard or another equally good villian giving him back up. Vulturess? Seriously? One vulture was hard enough to swallow, now two? Do the suits really think this will help the franchise after 3?
Shadowelfz - 12/8/2009, 8:45 AM
Even though she's not my first choice I think Hathaway is a decent choice to play Felicia/Black Cat...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

But Vulturess!?! I dont even want to imagine that! In all honesty though, I dont think Raimi would do this - he's surely learnt from the mistakes of Spider-Man 3 and he must have seen the huge amount of negative responses to the changes of Harry and Venom! And as he's supposed to be such a big fan of the original villains he surely wouldnt do this would he? WOULD HE??? ;)

Anybody that believes any of these rumors without confirmation by the studio, director, actors, and/or Marvel is a gullible idiot.
MatchesMalone - 12/8/2009, 8:54 AM
@ Hawks I was stoked when Malkovitch and Irons signed on.
The Eragon books have been great reads but was let down by the movie.

Stubbyswof - 12/8/2009, 9:06 AM
MatchesMalone- You're right on the money! It can't be a logical possibility. It makes no sense. Did Fox acquire the rights without us knowing??? I guess Multi was right all along!

God, this is getting retarded. Hathaway would be a better Lois Lane but a decent Felicia if she was... ya know... FELICIA!!! WTF is up with this vulturess shit?!?!!? I mean, who the hell comes up with shit like this??? I knew Schumaker was pulling for a collective assram from the fans but... Raimi??? I can't possibly concieve of it! Malcovich would be a great Vulture for sure but it's really not what i wanna see for Spider-Man 4.

Lizard & Gerard Butler as Kraven The Hunter for Spider-Man 4!!!

Click on Gerard over here to check out my galery ;P
Shaman - 12/8/2009, 9:06 AM
Its already looking bad if the suits are more concerend with seeing the actors faces instead of making a movie that will kick ass.Vultress!?! no comment :/
thatiscrazy - 12/8/2009, 9:10 AM
Stubby: I was the same way about it, excited, then let down horribly. I liked the books also. Do you have any idea when the third one is coming out?
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 9:11 AM
Yea this rumour sounds redicoulous, I agree with Matches Malone, wait for the studio to confirm it
dancingmonkey08 - 12/8/2009, 9:13 AM
I Think we need to get raimi out of the directors chair and find someone who will stay true to the comics.
I mean he F***ed up spidey 3 just because he didn't want venom in the movie Nobody Cares what Raimi wants it's all about the fans
JRay420 - 12/8/2009, 9:19 AM
*snicker* I just had a thought. The suits wanna see the actors faces?? Are these the same suits that covered up William Dafoe's face with that horrible mask?? ROFLMAO
NotCCA - 12/8/2009, 9:22 AM
he he

Whether this rumor is true or not, spidey 4 is still gonna be bad. And besides, will anyone even care about spidey when Thor, Captain America, and Green Lantern are coming out in the same summer.
supermarioworldE - 12/8/2009, 9:34 AM
@Hawks Brisingr came out Sep 08. Haven't heard when the fourth will be out.
Stubbyswof - 12/8/2009, 9:38 AM
WTF ?
wussupman - 12/8/2009, 9:44 AM
Thanks Stubby, I had no idea it was out. I was thinking it would be next year sometime.
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 9:47 AM
im agreeing with SuperMario

what makes up believe that Raimi is going to do a better job than the last three movies? neither one of them were on par with any CBM that have come out in the last few years, what would magically change Raimi to do so. I may be a pessimist, but I dont feel Raimi is the man who can bring us the spiderman we all know and love from the pages.

and also for the record, the vulture would be a horrible villain for a movie.

@Hawks and Stubby, I am with you guys on the Eragon books, great reads... not so great movie
Spada - 12/8/2009, 9:49 AM

Dont want to see the Vulture I dont see him making a good villain but Malkovitch is a good pick. I would much rather see the Rhino or the lizard/Kin Pin and Tombstone crime bosses. Hathaway not a bad pick but I just hope if she is chosen she works that body out to the fullest. BlackCat a a Crazy Body on her.

I do agree and I think we have had this discussion many times, Raimi shouldn't be directing this film. I just dont see it going well. SpiderMan needs to be darker more edgy.May be on 5 they will can the director and cast and continue the story. I really want a new Parker and MJ.
CrashTest - 12/8/2009, 9:50 AM
WHAAAAT! Malkovitch playing the VULTURE!? he's a great actor but, I WANT THE LIZARD, vulture is a well known
foe to spider-man but COME ON!! AND THE VULTEERESS..this has to be rumor..THERE IS NO SUCH CHARACTER IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE!
peterparker420 - 12/8/2009, 9:51 AM
hell with vulture, bring on scorpion
squirt - 12/8/2009, 9:57 AM
Need we say anymore!!!!

LEEE777 - 12/8/2009, 9:59 AM
LEE: Yeah, you can say this lol! :D

Ben Foster for Electro!!!

Electro

Timothy Olyphant for Scorpion!

I mean thats peronally what I'd like to see in the next Spider-Man movie but Butler would make an awesome Kraven so I'd definitely go and see Spidey take on him and Lizard!
JoshW - 12/8/2009, 10:12 AM
ok first CBM post, so be gentle ha
ok...as a life long spidey fan, the movies never sat too well with me...too many things changed without a good reason and dont get me started on their version of peter..which is not the true version let me tell you.
anyway i digress; i am starting to see a parralel between this and the superman movies..we get 2 good ones, a pretty bad one..and then the one to kill them all...and if these ridiculous rumours are indeed true..then we may be getting the spidey movie to kill them all.
SuperSpidey - 12/8/2009, 10:16 AM
Anne Hathaway ? oh well , she just needs to eat a little more and get a tan.

SuperSpidey - 12/8/2009, 10:27 AM
I'm not going to buy this at all.

We fans are screaming for a Lizard/Kraven adventure, the three films lead up to it.

As for all of the rich field of superheroes and superheroines that Marvel has on the boards, and the Hollyweird suits come up with the idea to INVENT a new character? WTF? WHY???

to me, this rumor rings VERY hollow.
bropous - 12/8/2009, 10:28 AM
I just took a huge dump...

I call it, Spiderman 4.
BillyBlack - 12/8/2009, 10:34 AM
the vultress???? really???? that is so freakin lame!!!! what a waste! especially since hathaway is so smokin hot!!! she would be a GREAT black cat!!!!! not some winged sidekick to her father. lame lame lame lame.
HelaGood - 12/8/2009, 10:36 AM
Someone trying to stir up the 'Spidey Rumor Mill' again. Oh well. People will never learn. I doubt these rumors are true. They sound awful. And if they are true, Raimi is sending us a message. And it reads: "Hey everyone! Listen, I'm tired of doing Spider-Man but I'm contractually obligated to do these god damn movies. I intentionally f*cked up the last one and now I'm going to f*ck up this one, just in the hopes of having my contract terminated. Thanks for being such great fans."-Sam Raimi
IrvineGray - 12/8/2009, 10:38 AM

SuperSpidey - 12/8/2009, 10:50 AM
Sam Raimi wasn't the one who f*cked up Spider-Man 3. It was Avi Arad. Sam has said multiple times that he didn't know dick about Venom and never wanted to use him. It was Avi who said that the fans were clamoring for Venom, so Sam was pretty much forced into doing a rewrite just to include him. So if the blame must be placed, blame the studio system. Too many producers=too many cooks in the kitchen. Raimi has stated that he wants SM4 too be dialed back a little and focus more on a cohesive story. I think multiple villians can work if done properly, especially if they paid attention to some of the great fan fic on this site! (Shaman-your ideas come to mind)
MatchesMalone - 12/8/2009, 10:51 AM

one big happy Vulture family... (I couldn't resist! LOL)

This sounds kinda silly.

I'll believe it when I see it.
MovieTheaterLad - 12/8/2009, 11:07 AM
if the vulture is the main villain, i will have NO interest in this movie.
CorndogBurglar - 12/8/2009, 11:20 AM
also, i would like to know where all this hate for the spidey franchise came from. before spidey 3 came out, i seem to remember the majority of people loving them, especially the 2nd.

you can't tell me that one bad movie automatically condemns all further sequels. although, i'll admit, this one is sounding pretty bad.
CorndogBurglar - 12/8/2009, 11:23 AM
this has gotta be false but why is everyone puttin the blame on raimi it says the SUITS want a more human villian not the director....i wanna see the lizard and maybe a shocker cameo hes my favorite spiderman villian and he doesnt get much love i think hes way better than electro and if anne hathaway is anythin in this movie it will not be good shes a pretty cute girl but isnt felicia hardy(or all the women around spiderman) supposed to be smokin hot and the vulture sucks hes such a pussy compared to the other rogues in spideys gallery
SabretoothTiger - 12/8/2009, 11:28 AM
The miley cyrus is playing batgirl story was more beleivable then this!
anirudhmohan - 12/8/2009, 11:34 AM
If they are going to make up a character, why are they using a name that is already established as a substantial villain to Spidey? This makes NO SENSE AT ALL!!! Why not make a uup a name to go with a made up character?

For the record...I have never really been a fan of the Spiderman films. They are good and for the most part pretty well done (technically), but I still think Tobey is all wrong for Parker/Spidey.

This one is already setting up to be worse than the third if you ask me. Making up villains? When there are so many others to choose from? Bad move.
ecksmanfan - 12/8/2009, 11:34 AM
@ Corndogburgler: It's largely because of the massive number of disappointed Venom fans.

Annnd this is debatable but yeah SM3 really was that bad. For many it may have soured the whole thing
SixSixteen - 12/8/2009, 11:34 AM

@RoR-01 : So ummm , what err...um , well what would you be willing to swallow...... without any proof? ;P
shibazz - 12/8/2009, 11:40 AM
you know what i thought would always have been an awesome choice for spiderman/parker would be topher grace i mean he would need to bulk up but he looks a lot like peter and hes great at bein a smartass jokester as seen in that 70's show
SabretoothTiger - 12/8/2009, 11:47 AM
Great actor, horrible villian! Just when I was starting to have faith in Spiderman they go with this shit. They have the best opening to go with Lizard, and f**k it up again.

MisterFixit - 12/8/2009, 11:50 AM

JerzeyHellboy- HA!!! That's precious LOL ;)

Malkovich kicks ass.........

BUT VULTURE IS A HORRIBLE IDEA! Not only is he Spider-Man's worst villain (or damn close to being it), but WTF are they thinking changing Black Cat (an already bad character on her own) into Vulture's daughter, and calling her, the Vulturess?! That's the stupidest name I've ever heard.

If Vulture and "Black Cat" (term used loosely in this situation) count my 10 bucks out.

Have they not learned ANYTHING from Spider-Sh*t 3? I mean, come on.

I am on my knees right now praying to God that this isn't true. Let's hope it isn't.
InTylerWeTrust - 12/8/2009, 12:30 PM
ben kingsley thats who they should get
to play Vulture

Why I Don't Want a Spider-Man 4

MultiPurposePoni - 12/8/2009, 12:38 PM
Jersey that is a great Christmas card

Billy LOL equestrian LOL
Stubbyswof - 12/8/2009, 12:45 PM
lol you called it, Multi

@ Tyler: fo real tho.. If they screw things up this badly I just might skip the whole thing.
I used to have a policy of always seeing every CBM that comes out.

Well the Sm3 punch in the stomach, and then the XMen3 curb stomp fixed that.

SixSixteen - 12/8/2009, 1:09 PM
BOOOOOOOOOOOOO! SAM WTF R U DOING!!!!!!!
RockNRollCC - 12/8/2009, 1:22 PM
He sure did, eh Darth? Good man, Multi ;)

I actually missed out on Spider-Man2 in theaters and it was astronomically better than what the 4th is shaping up to be. So unless they debunk and truly give us the film that we are entitled to get, i'm keeping my money!

KEEP ANNE HATHAWAY AS LOIS LANE!!!!
Shaman - 12/8/2009, 1:26 PM
If this is true then it will be the last comicbook movie Sam and Sony ever produce, because no-one wants to see that shit.
theFACE - 12/8/2009, 1:34 PM
Shaman: They did keep her as Lois. This will be Anne, playing Lois, playing Felicia. Playing the Vulturess??? WTFH???
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 1:34 PM
Actually, the sad part of this, is that the general public will love it and it will make big bucks. Most viewers will never know what the movie is skull frickin.
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 1:37 PM
I cannot dismiss Raimi just because he molests my favorite and beloved characters of all time.

I have been a long time Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn fan. 15 years before Spiderman ever came out. Evil Dead inspired so many great movies that we might not have otherwise if it wasnt for Evil Dead (2).

So go ahead and rape my favorite characters Sam, I still love you. (I did have multiple orgasms seeing Doc Oc in live action on the big screen...and seeing Spidy swinging around in New York cityscapes. That is about it though).

I already knew this was going to happen. Ive followed his career of hits and misses.

Remember the TV show M.A.N.T.I.S.? Raimi wrote and produced that:

Photobucket

as wel as:

Hercules:
Photobucket

Xena: Warrior Princess:
Photobucket

Darkman:

Photobucket

On the other hand he has done some really great work:

Like co-writing the Coen Bro's movie 'The Hudsucker Proxy' for those of you who didn't know that ;)

Plus much more. He invented alot of Camera shots. He is very stylized director that other directors look up to and pay homage to. Even though he is a molester of that of which we hold most dear.

Shameless self promotion (I forgot to add his left hand lol ;)

Jojo Risin - 12/8/2009, 1:40 PM
Do Black Cat/Felicia Hardy right or don't put her Felicia or Black Cat in it at all.

I PRAY THAT THEY DON'T MESS UP MY CHARACTER
BlackCat1 - 12/8/2009, 1:43 PM
Timothy Olyphant for Scorpion! Nice pick.

I want the damn King Pin. If he wants a more human Villain, then the King Pin is that. It adds another element to the film, the criminal underworld and the one thing Spiderman cant touch, politics. The big dogs controlling things behind the scenes. The Lizard is a MUST since he is already set up. On top of bring the King Pin in, a DareDevil Cross over would be perfect. You dont even have to bring in Daredevil, just have Murdock the lawyer step in. Wilson Fisk takes a liking to Peter Parker under, Murdock steps in to revile Fisk true nature.

CrashTest - 12/8/2009, 1:45 PM
The Vultress comes on! thats horrible but i do like anne hathaway
Set2Fallfirst - 12/8/2009, 1:45 PM
I personally like the Vulture as a villian in this flick. If the rumor is true I believe a lot of Spidey 1 fans will come back. Although the Ms. Vulture thing is just plain stupid. And as for those spidey 1 fans that came because of the Vulture, they'll end up turning around and leave the movie theater.
sagekilz - 12/8/2009, 1:49 PM
Hawksblueyes- HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!! I wouldn't even be surprised! That's the tragic part!!! And you're so right, the general audience are totally oblivious.
Shaman - 12/8/2009, 1:50 PM
People this is just a rumor not an official casting. DOn't go "OMG I wanted something-something to be in the movie". The John Malkovitch/Anne Hathaway casting is only a rumor until either the actors themselfs/or the director confirm the casting. Don't believe everything you hear
Diamond1995 - 12/8/2009, 1:51 PM
i think vulture and blackcat will be secondary villians while the lizard with be the primary villian or spiderman will be fighting vulture in the beginning of the movie some thing like that
flames809 - 12/8/2009, 1:59 PM
PLEASE STOP RAIMI
skullboy - 12/8/2009, 2:07 PM
It sounds like Raimi is [frick]ing up, I can see John Malkovitch as Vulture even though I rather see Ben Kingsley in the role. And Anne Hathaway as the Vultress who the [frick] is that. I just hope this is all rumors.
Bandrews1 - 12/8/2009, 2:13 PM
The Vulturess? If this is true, i'll never pay a dime to watch this movie! So far, I've seen all 3 spidey movies in the theater and bought the special edition dvds because I like the extras, but if they go through with this crap, that's it! game over!
ReddHotPoker - 12/8/2009, 2:18 PM
@ Jojo: never mind all that. Have you cast your CBM award votes yet? *tsk* musicians....
SixSixteen - 12/8/2009, 2:37 PM
I agree with JoJo on not dismissing Raimi just for that abomination of a film called "Spider-Man 3". I LOVE "Darkman". Also, these rumors are doubtful. Any rumor I hear or read that says that The Lizard will not be the main villain is one that I dismiss in an instant.
JJMeylar - 12/8/2009, 2:38 PM
I doubt Marvel would let Raimi eff up the mythos this bad. I think Movieline is full of shit. I'm not going to believe anything until it actually comes out of Raimi's mouth, then I'll chastize him for it. Movieline is about as credible as that crap Smallville site that was douching CBM a while back.
Tobuttica - 12/8/2009, 2:39 PM
@ Flames: Did you even read this article man?

@ Hawksblueyes: "They did keep her as Lois. This will be Anne, playing Lois, playing Felicia. Playing the Vulturess??? WTFH??? "

Oh I see what you did there. lmao

SixSixteen - 12/8/2009, 2:44 PM
Darth::: LOL, I'm here to help.
Hawksblueyes - 12/8/2009, 2:53 PM
when having the black cat she must be protrayed by a beautifull actress, n rami chooses some of the ugliest. john shudnt play vulture. i keep seeing someone else. gosh, i cant wait to remake the [frick]ing franchise. ill be the one who's more faithful to spider-man then rami cud ever be
kyle dalton - 12/8/2009, 2:55 PM
This isn't true. I sincerely refuse to believe that Raimi is this stupid. Because he's not. He's trying to recouperate from the butchering of Eddie Brock - he can't move on to butcher an equally beloved character such as Felicia and be ok with it.

This is a croc.
SciFiNut - 12/8/2009, 3:05 PM
This is bs i hope the f***in hate vulture i dont wanna see his old ass why why why this is not making me happy i dont wanna see a vulture or vultress i really dont even wanna see lizard but now i rather see him then this garbage.
MightyThor1 - 12/8/2009, 3:07 PM
i cannot believe this $#!+! the f@#$ing vultures what in the hell is wrong with ramie?! give us the lizard and kraven,or carnage, and mysterio,or scorpion and more doc ock,or even venom but make it one of these villains and quite trying to give us crap man. im pi$$ed, and if this is true im done with the spiderman films until they remake them. now im wanting marvel/disney to get the rights back. i will not watch this if this crap is true.i do not want to see a old ass vulture fighting spiderman this crap is lame. i want the lizard.this movie is going to bomb out big if this is true.
1chris2 - 12/8/2009, 3:20 PM
C'mon!

What is it with these rumors? They're so obviously made up!!! I vote to let other media sources outside of the internet do the reporting on Spidey 4! There's just too much B.S. swirling around on the web!

The part about Malkovich is believeable, but it falls apart concerning "the Vulturess"!!

I feel that the Lizard will eventually appear, if not in part 4, then definitely by 5! Could be Raimi will use the fourth film to set up Connor's transformation and continue with it as the main plot, hopefully with Kraven attached!

C'mon, Raimi! Don't let us down!!
JonF - 12/8/2009, 3:26 PM
I call Bull-Crap!
Lizard/Kraven for Spider-Man!
NightAvenger - 12/8/2009, 3:28 PM
WHile Malkovich would be a good Vulture, I think this SUCKS!!!!!! I WANT LIZARD!!!!!
TheCritic17 - 12/8/2009, 3:29 PM
Sounds like horseshit
gtrman - 12/8/2009, 3:38 PM
I doubt this is true, all these spidey rumors have seemed pretty fake to me, I wouldn't be surprised if this one is too.
thwhtGuardian - 12/8/2009, 3:42 PM
This story is a big load of excriment, there is no way the Suits are this stupid. This article was just posted to stir people up. TOTALLY BOGUS.............
TheThing - 12/8/2009, 3:44 PM

gibbyblaylock - 12/8/2009, 3:54 PM
The stinkin' suits strike again! Vultress? Whatever...I'm looking forward to Green Lantern!
BrownTornado - 12/8/2009, 3:57 PM
vote no on vultress. period, end of story
aroyalspider - 12/8/2009, 3:58 PM
Im sure(Hope!) its bollocks..but, you really never know. Remember Deadpoolgate? Everyone was certain that the mouthless sword handed tool at the end was not going to turn out to be Deadpool...but this does sound like bullshit.

Well, Shib, Iv had all manner of things in my mouth..but I rarely swallow:)
RorMachine - 12/8/2009, 4:03 PM
this is nothing but an idle rumor designed to get everyone all excited and pissed off. Let me see her in a costume from the set before I'll fuss about this.
comicb00kguy - 12/8/2009, 4:04 PM
If any part of this is true I scream RECAST go with fresh blood all around!!!. If Raimi is this far off then we will look back at Emo Spider with fondness after this. Best way to go would have been Lizard and Kraven. The suits don't know shit about what audiences want. It's like listening to a college professor talk about the real world.

The current lineup of director and cast really should have gone tits up after number three. Four should have started with a new cast and director, this thing needs new blood like a hemophiliac with a paper cut

NERO - 12/8/2009, 4:08 PM
Wow this pisses everyone off as much as Beyonce/Wonder Woman
Stubbyswof - 12/8/2009, 4:12 PM
Listen up suits, the Underworld movies worked and there wasn't a human face behind the werewolves. Why is it so hard to make the Lizard a believeable villian, just have him battle Spidey and change back to Dr. Conners and when the Lizard notices he's changing he takes off and leaves Spidey wondering where he went. Give the Doctor amnesia like Bill Bixby's David Banner in the Incredible Hulk show. This could be a great movie. It's the classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which you can't tell me doesn't work. I mean we're talking about Sam freaking Raimi here.
Timerider84 - 12/8/2009, 4:29 PM
Hell, think of Alien... The slinking creature in the tight dark dank confines of that ship, terrifying, and it didn't even have eyes for God's sake.
NERO - 12/8/2009, 4:33 PM
I could see Malkovich as the Vulture.

As for Vulturess.... yeah.... If that ever turns out to be true....

Ladies and gentlemen, I think it's time to revive an ancient tradition we seem to have long forgotten.

*hands out torches and pitchforks*
TheDemonHunter - 12/8/2009, 5:12 PM
After seeing "Drag Me to Hell"... I have no idea what we're in for here. But I think I've read time and time again that Vulture is Raimi's least favorite character, or even that "he hates him" lol. For now I'm gonna call bull.

On the subject of the Spidey movies "sucking" as a whole, I think the general consensus here is that 1 is good, 2 is amazing, and 3 sucks. Raimi pulled a bird out of his hat with 2, and if he can ever get back to that level I'll be happy.

John Malkovich wasted on the Vulture... makes me want to hurl.

I call "the Vulturess" to be complete horseshit.

Though I don't know why so many of you guys hate Hathaway -imo there is some untapped animal quality under her geeky exterior, just hasn't really had the right roles to pull it out of her yet (not that a Spiderman role will be it lol). Look at Natalie Portman with Closer - I never found her particularly hot before that movie, and since, I never looked at her the same.

Anyway, Hathaway is fine for me, but only as Hardy/Blackcat.

And yeah, I'm with you guys on Lizard - it is the extreme obvious, and cg's finally at the level to really pull him off. It is the classic Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. If they keep the current actor for Doc Connors, it could be excellent, but he's gettin' pretty old so they'd better get it done.

Really makes sense to head towards the Sinister Six for number six.
48and2 - 12/8/2009, 5:23 PM
im generally not a fan of a whole lot of reboots, but i think this franchise could use it. I enjoyed the first two spiderman movies (and would argue that Spiderman 2 could be the 2nd best of all time)..however I look at this franchise as the old Tim Burton and Schumacher (spelling) films. All they did was take someone else's characters and create whatever type of story they wanted..with very little regard to the original story and portrayal of characters. Batman showed that original stories work. I'm all for an on-screen translation of sorts...but these have gone too far. NO VULTURESS
