Iron Man 2 After Credit Scene Revealed

Iron Man 2 After Credit Scene Revealed

Somehow, a video of the highly sought after secret scene from Iron Man 2 ended up on YouTube, it was quickly taken down of course, but many of us got a chance to glimpse it first. Here is the description. MAJOR SPOILERAGE, do not make the jump if you want to be surprised at the end of the movie..

If you haven't seen it, or don't already know, here is a breakdown of the scene:

We see a car pull up in a desert setting. The license plate is revealed as 8RE 2Z1. A man exists the car and stands at the top of a hill looking down at something. Its SHIELD agent Coulson and he is watching a lot of exited activity buzzing around a large crater in the ground. He turns away and speaks on his phone..

"Sir, we've found him" He says.

The camera pans back to the crater and reveals Thor's hammer Mjolnir in all it's cool, faithful to the original comics, glory!

In fairness, this wasn't too much of a surprise. Screen writer Justin Theroux pretty much gave away the easter egg when he said this..

No, [the easter egg's] got to be very specific because you can’t…if it was all of a sudden Tony opens a tool box and there’s a friggin’ hammer in there, you can’t bone the next guy. You know it’s not like…you want to create possibilities. So that’s a very thought out piece. If the shield all of a sudden just falls out of the sky, whatever it is, whatever that thing is, you want to be very specific about it.

Anyway, still mighty cool I'm sure you will agree.

UPDATE: In case you still haven't seen it, here's the vid:

I'm happy they made the hammer look like the classic version rather than try to "bad-ass" it up and change it. GO MARVEL! :)

@Mike- The timeline is

Captain America: First Avenger

Iron Man

Iron Man 2

The Incredible Hulk

Thor

The Avengers

Also, Fury will have been meaning to create the Avengers long before Hulk became a possible threat. There are more villanous characters remember. According to Fiege (I think) he said that it will be the 616 Avengers that will be adapted and only parts of the Ultimates will feature, such as thier formation. Which pretty much means Loki is the main baddie (thank God) controlling Hulk etc

I saw the video earlier and it is one [frick]ing awesome scene, lol!

In my opinion, it points to Thor being banished to Earth (powerless) and perhaps he'll then take on the name Donald Blake for a while until he gets to the hammer!?

@Mike- Yeah that'd rule. I'd love to see a Leader cameo at the end of The Avengers, like hiding out in a cave just watching videos of the Hulk alongisde the Avengers and laughing manically...because I REALLLY want to see TIH 2 and the Leader would be perfect, I also have a feeling that the Abomination might show up in the Avengers.

cap has to take place before all cause the movie is set in ww2 for the most part is it not? So that one is easy to explain.
@MikeSanderson09 maybe Fury is not convinced tony is Iron Man at the end of IM1 but is convinced he knows who or what he is.
Either way IM2 is gonna be awesome

@ mike

the might not be putting the team together specifically to get the Hulk. they might have already been doing it, and then the Hulk thing came up...

CorndogBurglar - 4/28/2010, 7:10 AM
well we know that the Thor movie takes place on Earth, that he gets banished here, and has to fight an army from Asgard. but his Hammer is here, which would leave you to believe that in this scene, he's just now been banished. so, this scene will HAVE to overlap with what happens in Thor.

since Thor is nowhere around in this scene, it leaves you to believe that this is right before the scene we heard about...the one with the military (Stan Lee driving) trying to pull the hammer with a truck, and the bumper falling off.

god i love what Marvel is doing!

@ mike sanderson

dude, no one knows the answers, lol. the only thing we can assume is that something happens to change their minds and let him be on the team. because there's NO WAY they'll make an Avengers movie without Tony Stark. so relax, buddy, lol.

I may be wrong but on one of the wide shots I thought I saw a lightening bolt, could just be imagination though or a screen flicker.

All,

Timeline wise, don't forget...Norton's Incredible Hulk - even though Marvel did not want it to be called a "sequel" - the story clearly followed the events in Ang Lee's Hulk...which means the timeline for the movies is likely:

Captain America
Hulk
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Incredible Hulk (did this actually come before Iron Man 2?)
Thor
Avengers

Which means the government was aware of the Hulk prior to Iron Man and the Avengers initiative.
Ryden
Ryden - 4/28/2010, 8:41 AM
Coulson says "We found HIM" not it....so my guess is Thor is lying just beside that hammer.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 4/28/2010, 8:47 AM
@ ryden

either that, or they're just thinking that if they found the hammer, then Thor can't be far away...
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 4/28/2010, 8:48 AM
@ webhead

nothing from Ang Lee's Hulk is being acknowledged in these movies, so you can't use that. also, the only similarity between Lee's and the new Hulk is where the story starts. the origin, and EVERYTHING else is completely different.

so no, you can't really use Ang Lee's Hulk as canon for these new movies...

however, when the new Hulk movie starts, he's already on the run from the government/military, so of course they knew of him already. you just can't use Ang Lee's Hulk as a reference.

also, Incredible Hulk does NOT happen before Iron Man 2. it wouldn't make any sense for Iron Man to be telling Ross that they're putting together a team if Iron Man isn't a part of it yet. like Feige said, there's a scene in Iron Man that shows something happening from Incredible Hulk. so the events of IH and IM2 overlap at some point.
