Reports are coming in that fan favorite Fassbender is being pursued by Mathew Vaughan to play Magento in X-Men: First Class, as well as by Marc Webb to play the as yet unrevealed villain in his Spider-Man reboot...

According to Showbiz411, German born, Irish raised Michael Fassbender is being pursued by two different directors making two very different CBMs for two different studios.

According to Roger Friedman at Showbiz411..

He’s being pursued, I hear, for two different Marvel comics movies. Matthew Vaughn is said to want him for “X Men: First Class.” Fassbender would play young Magneto[though Friedman says Xavier here, I assume its a momentary brain fart!], played in the first three films by Ian McKellen.
At the same time, Fassbender is being pursued to play the villain in “Spider Man 4,” aka “No Toby Maguire Here.”



Nothing official, so its just a rumor for now. And of course, even if he is being sought after there is no indication that he will acept either role. Fassbender has been very prominent in our fan casts here at CBM thanks to his great work in movies such as Inglorious Basterds and more indie fare like Eden Lake and Fish Tank. He will be seen next in DC comic adaptation Jonah Hex, and he also had a supporting role in 300 so at least we know CBMs hold an interest. Magneto I could totally see though. And which villain could possibly fit Fassbender in the Spider-man reboot?

Fassbender is currently filming David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method, in which he plays the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. Viggo Mortenson also stars.

LEEE- You should hope that he gets to be Young Magneto cause you could be getting much much worse! Fassbender is an OUTSTANDING actor and we would all be so lucky to have him in every CBM he can get his hands on!

As for Spider-man's villain, he could be Mac Gargan a.k.a. The Scorpion! Personally, i always saw him as the ideal Bullseye!!! But Scorpion could be an awesome first villain for Spidey's first run at vigilantism. It would be easy to top in the sequal while still entertaining to see Fassbender make a better villain out of this second rate character.

LEEE- Clive Owen's too much of a big shot now for pissant Fox productions that are only made for a quick buck to keep franchise rights. He wouldn't agree to that film in a million years.

Sorry Lee, he's versatile as Hell and I'm sure he could pull off any role he took but how you automatically see a scrawny, pale ass Paddy as being a perfect fit for Kraven The Hunter is beyond me! In fact I would say Owen would be a better Kraven than he would Magneto, although he would own that too I'm sure. Anyway, regardless of which other parts he would be good in, although I never even thought of him for Magneto he would be awesome I reckon.

The man is a GREAT actor. He could do any of these roles. Personally,I want him as Aquaman!
He would be good as Magneto or Kraven.
I think the Spidey role they want him for is Norman Osborn.He fits the part like a glove.

@LEEE-I HATE the Hulk Goblin. I would take him as Magneto but he fits the other mentioned roles more.

Tea@ You wanna see Fass at his best watch Hunger. Phenomenal!

The thing about Fassbender is he can transform himself (like Andy Serkis) so he can pretty much do anything. So it's very difficult to pin hmi down to what part he could be playing.

And a big NO to Gerard Butler. Fassbender has the slight advantage over him...in the sense that Fass can act!

Orphix- Butler might not have acted in movies that you enjoy but he is most certainly a qualified actor. And for Kraven's role, Butler has ALL the advantages over Fassbender. The girth, the feralness, the fierce gaze, the growling voice, EVERYTHING! Daniel Day Lewis is just as good an actor if not better than Fassbender but that doesn't make him more qualified to play a character like Kraven. Fassbender is a much more talented actor than Butler, i'll give you that. But Butler has Kraven in his blood. He's made for it!

I like Alaexander Skarsgard for Aquaman, a
long-haired Aquaman! He's tall like Superman
should be too! I'm sure tired of kids and a
short guys playing Superman so Aquaman should
be a giant too! At least Routh is 6'3"!

Also Skarsgard is a Shakespearean actor in
Sweden so he knows about playing Kings and
Aquaman is the King of the Sea! Of course
McKidd and Fassbender have done a lot of Shakespear
too but they're both kinda short to stand
beside a tall Superman!

Im not seeing the Spider Man reboot. Cmon Sony, the first franchise made over 1 billion dollars altogether, why reboot it cause you werent happy with the third one? That was yall's fault by making them put Venom in it the way yall did it.

There is no need for this reboot.

DDD- Well thank you very much ;) The only thing that doesn't make me pull for Butler as Aquaman is that he's too... i dunno... "gravitational" to pull off a secondary character. He'd literally steal the spotlight of Superman. And i'm not sure Butler would settle for the few lines they'd actually give to Aquaman. But in a stand alone film, he certainly has what it takes. But good call on Skarsgard! He'd be an awesome Aquaman!!!
