EW provides a behind-the-scenes look at the making of next summer’s highly anticipated superhero movie Green Lantern.

They also have an interview with Reynolds. Here is a teaser..

Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, a cocky test pilot who becomes a ring-wearing intergalactic superhero in this massive sci-fi epic from director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale). Though Reynolds has prior experience in the superhero realm from his role as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, playing Green Lantern involved some major challenges, like getting hurled through the air on a wire at up to 60 feet per second to create the illusion of flight. “The first time you do it, you’re seriously considering an adult diaper,” Reynolds says. Still, he couldn’t resist the chance to play the beloved DC Comics hero, whose power ring can conjure virtually anything he can dream up. “Will and imagination are his superpowers,” Reynolds says. “We need a circus of Timothy Learys to think of things Hal would invent with his ring.”

Green Lantern will be released June 17, 2011 and as well as Reynolds, stars Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Saarsgard, Tim Robbins, Temeura Morrison, and Angela Bassett.

I'm glad they went with a classic looking chest symbol and I can live with the muscle-tone look of his costume, but...

...what's up with his perm?

It looks cool but kinda weird. It not exactly how I thought it would look. Cant wait to see the full costume next week.

It does have that alien look to it.

I don't like it very much based on this picture. To me it looks more organic (like the Spider-man symbiote bonded to a Green Lantern)than something created by the ring's energy. I also think it's a little bit busy. However, I'll reserve full judgment until I see more.

A different look than what I was expecting, however its much like the Venom situation. One thing that would work very well for comics may not work well for film. Quite like the look of it when taking the concept that this is an alien suit projected onto him.

The mask is a bit odd but would have to see some footage before I can make a decision.

i feel the same as some of the commenters on the Thor costumes... half of me likes it but doesn't want to, the other half wants to but can't. i need time to process...

I thought I read somewhere that he was going to look like he does in the comics. Where are his white gloves?

That being said, I like it.

I think it fits that a man weilding the most powerfull weapon in the universe shouldn't look like a super nice guy. He looks a little bit spooky in the picture and to me, that fits.

You have to remember that although The Green Lantern is a good guy and out to fight for justice, he follows the rules of the Corps and those rules do not always coincide with local Earth laws. Again, the look fits that thought.

Nice. Glad they ditched the prissy evening ball gloves.

Now if we could just get some shots of Ryan's bare chest....;)

Alright, I don't want to hear anyone complain about the Thor costumes if everyone things this looks amazing. At least in Thor, the actors are actually wearing their actual costumes.

@Teabag, I agree with you about his head not looking right.

Yeah I dont like it either it's to different from the comics. However that might be it transforming into the actual costume.
I'm crossing my fingers that this is just the costume in energy/transformation form. I'm hoping for something more like this.
LoSo82
LoSo82 - 7/15/2010, 7:12 AM
I don't know, it sort of looks like the suit is just beginning to form, like mid transformation. I'm just glad we got something to go with now

I actually like it. It really looks alien and that was important to me. Still hoping that their will be some hint of the original costume though, some black at least.

Cool find! I dont like it though, lol! It looks like he's wearing a full body stocking or something IMO! :P

Thor is gonna be so much better...

TheDARKestKNIGHT - 7/15/2010, 7:14 AM
I can actually dig it...most things we know from the comics are still intact like the neckline and the domino mask have white eyes (glad about this) but my only worry is that the full suit is green. I can't tell if the arms are black or not but if they aren't I at least hope his legs are black and boots are green.
Shaman

ians325- Nice catch! It's a cross between Automan, Lawnmower man and Tron IMO. I kinda hate it. It is too much of a change for my taste. I prefer the Thor and Cap costume so far. But then again, we've seen none of these in action so we'll see.
AlternateNo4
AlternateNo4 - 7/15/2010, 7:15 AM
@brent you're 100% right... the hair is definitely too high and too plastic.

i know this sounds picky, but a cocky rakish macho pilot like highball isn't going to upspray his coif like that. i won't call it "gay" because i'm not the kind of person that throws that word around as an insult... but it's... foppish. dandy. hal is a dog with women so i guess he can care a little about his looks, but he's a military guy and i doubt he'd feel like sculpting a ken doll head every day is the best use of his machismo.

I'm with Superman4 and LoSo82, I think this is the suit in mid transformation.
