In an interview with SyFy's Blastr.com, Singer revealed that he did indeed want Twilight wolfboy Taylor Lautner on board Mathew Vaughn's X prequel...
X-Men producer and writer Bryan Singer cleared up some X-Men: First Class rumors for us at the unlikeliest of places—a church in Hollywood, where he was a guest speaker on Sunday. After the hour-long talk, Singer talked to us about the casting—which he is in the middle of doing at the moment. Kevin Bacon is in; Taylor Lautner is out, for now; Meagan Good is uncertain.
"I wanted Taylor [Lautner] to do it, I really did," Singer said in an exclusive interview. "He's doing a movie in Pittsburgh called Abduction and then he's got the next Twilight movie. We talked about it a lot, he is a friend, and I really wanted to make it work. It just doesn't look like it's possible to do it."
Singer doesn't say which part he would have been up for, but I'm going to credit the makers of this movie with enough intelligence, and give them the benefit of the doubt that it was not a teenage Wolverine! Anyway, I'm a fan of Singer's, I really liked his X movies, but I have to admit that this sounded like a brain fart. Lets all rejoice that it didn't happen, more so because the actual cast is pretty impressive.
Another part of the article that I found interesting was the interviewer mentioning actress Meagan Good. has she been rumored? Its the first time I have heard her name in connection. I would assume she would have(and still could be) been up for the role of Storm, but who knows. You may remember Good most recently in the atrocious
Unborn with Gary Oldman. Still, Giggidy!
the article goes on to say...
Singer also squashed another rumor that he is set to direct Wolverine 2. "It's not what I'm going to do right now, the next project for me next year, in London, is Jack the Giant Killer that is set in the 1300s and it's very fun. It will be a big movie."
There's a bit more about his thoughts on the casting process so be sure to click if your interested.
