Matt Reeves Has Not Been Contacted About Superman

The director of "Let Me In" and "Cloverfield" reveals that despite his name being on the shortlist that supposedly leaked last week, he knows nothing about the Superman reboot..

Names of directors supposedly in the running to helm WB's Superman reboot were all over the net last week. And they kept on coming! Now one of them, Matt Reeves, takes himself out of the picture by revealing exclusively to Blastr.com that he was never contacted.

"First of all, I'm very flattered, because I think there's a lot of very interesting filmmakers on that list, But frankly, I haven't met with him and it's really, I'm sure, just a rumor."

Still, Reeves is a fan..

"I'm sure it will be an amazing project, I have tremendous respect for Chris Nolan and I think that the Superman myth is an incredible story."

And although he may not have been contacted directly, it doesn't mean WB and Nolan haven't been thinking about him and the other directors mentioned!

"I know that Warner Bros. is looking at (Let Me In), but they're looking at any movie that's supposed to be interesting that's coming out. They're a great company, but I have no idea if I would really be in consideration for that at this point."

So, does that mean that if he was, he might do it? Who knows! But for now we can probably scratch Reeves' name off the list.

Too bad, but at least it narrows down the list a bit more :)

Snyder said he doesn't want to do it, and Abrams is going to be completely booked up.

I did not like Cloverfield, but Let Me In is supposed to be awesome. Maybe Reeves could do it. I'm very interested in Doug Jones as the potential director.

Good stuff...
I really don't think he's suited. His Science Fiction roster includes Let Me In and Cloverfield, and, well;
Cloverfield was a decent watch, and without the writing of JJ Abrams, it would be just alright (I presume)
Let Me In looks like it's shot for shot with English. It could be good so I will not judge, but I don't think he's suitable for a Superman epic.

So the whole list is just bullshit? Why do people make shit up? There's no point, cause in the end, the people named always say if it true or not so why give yourself a bad name/rep by leaking false lists? (I'm speaking to whoever leak these types of lists).

I think that some are on the list and others are being contacted. Duncan Jones confirmed that he was contacted.

I didnt like Cloverfield at all, The story had so many plot holes that it was simply stupid. That whole idea of filming it with all the static and instability, emulating a hand held camera is always a shitty lame idea.

The Concept of the story is great but the way the film translated the idea was sloppy and clumsy.

I am ecstatic that Matt Reeves isnt in the running to film Superman.

Good Riddance !!!

If any of you "J.J Abrams supporters" ever read his old script for Superman Flyby y'all wouldnt want him anywhere near this reboot. I know I don't lol.

@Sweetre15- Oh shit, you have a good point...that WAS Abrams huh. [frick] Abrams then.

The one thing that gives me hope about this film is the fact that no matter what director Nolan chooses, there is NO WAY they can [frick] up again. Because this time NOLAN is the one who chose the story, characters and overall setting of the film. He's the one who will watch over the director and make sure he doesn't [frick] it up.

At this point I don't have any faith in any directors being able to nail a Superman film...too many have failed already- Ilya and Salkind killed Superman back in 80's and then Bryan Singer nearly re-killed Superman just in 2006. The only person I have faith in, is Chris Nolan, because he has yet to disappoint. I just hope that he will choose a director carefully and make sure to watch his every move and lame decision. We CANNOT have another 'Bryan Singer failure' this time. It needs to be spot-on.

Come on Nolan!! DON'T LET US DOWN!!!! GIVE US THE SUPERMAN FILM WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
