Captain America Trailer To Be Delayed, Apparently Footage "Isn't Amazing"

Nothing official here, but word is that the trailer will be some time away and the general consensus of those that have already viewed it is not too positive!..

When those few seconds of footage aired on ET last week everyone assumed that Marvel would be getting ready to unleash more footage and maybe even the full trailer very soon. It looks like that's not to be I'm afraid. Word is that we will be waiting a little (maybe a lot) longer for that highly anticipated trailer for Joe Johnston's Captain America: The First Avenger.

Branding Consultant Greg Littley had this to say..

Not good news.. I'm hearing that the “Captain America: The First Avenger” trailer is being delayed. Footage isn't 'Amazing'.

The delay seems to be legit, but as for the lack of quality well that's just something we will have to wait and find out for ourselves. But everything we have seen from the movie so far has looked great, and even though I have my reservations about Johnston, I'm not going to jump on this as confirmation of my concerns until I see that footage for myself. Johnston did say in an interview with Ed that they would be waiting until the footage was perfect which suggests that the trailer that was screened was not a finished effort. Either way, It looks like we will all have to have a little more patience before having a look at Cap in action.

The trailer should really start off slow. Giving it a little more story rather than focusing on all the graphics like GL did.

Glad they're taking their time with it. Hope this isn't a bad sign! It darn well better be higher quality than Green Lantern. That acting sucked.

even if the footage isn't amazing,it'll be still twice as good as the "green lantern" trailer.

One guy says the footage isn't amazing doesn't constitute a "consensus."

And I'm guessing they wanted to knock people's socks off with the trailer and at this point they only knocked off one sock.

Hysteria should not set in.

If by "not amazing" they meant "like GL's trailer", than it's OK to wait a little bit longer and make it better... Still excited tough !

That sounds like he's a perfectionist. I think that's a practical reason to hold back early footage of the movie.

Just cuz the trailer wasn't good doesn't mean the movie will suck. They just probably want a different edit of the trailer. One with more action.

CapWriter
CapWriter - 1/10/2011, 11:16 AM
It's probably just CGI SFX stuff that they want to get perfect before they release footage. Cap's shield has to be 100% right, otherwise it's not worth releasing footage yet.

80s face, I'm pretty sure this dude isn't the only one who saw the footage! He is saying that the overall view of those who it was screened for was "not amazing". That's the general consensus. But I agree that it doesn't mean much until we see for ourselves.

BTW, the GL trailer wasn't THAT bad! Jesus.
skidz
skidz - 1/10/2011, 11:20 AM
C'mon, guys. This is about the trailer, not the movie itself. Has anyone here seen a trailer that underwhelming and the movie was fantastic? Like I said, he could be perfectionist or, even more likely, he understands the significance of this movie and he wants to get it right. None of you got that from the interviews we've seen and heard?

StrangerX

I'm not trying to jump to conclusions by saying the trailer will determine the outcome of the movie. Especially when I first saw the Origins trailer I thought it was awesome until I saw the movie, and we all know how that turned out.

I'm sure some jack-wagon branding consultant knows exactly what's going on with the trailer. I'm sure he's VERY close to the production. Next story, Ror.

dont worry they will have Nazi lol since its set in WWII. even the old 1990 Captain America film had Nazi.
BIGBMH
BIGBMH - 1/10/2011, 11:36 AM
well, at least they're trying to make it as good as possible. i'm not sure if the poor quality at this point suggests that what they've filmed isn't good, or they haven't been able to get the effects to look the way they want them to.

@Gmoney84
i think "jack-wagon" is my new favorite term to call someone an idiot. go you sir.

and yep, I agree with all those who voice not over-reacting to this news. GL perhaps went out too early with VFX, "Hulk" made a mediocre splash during the Super Bowl....perhaps Marvel is simply learning from past screw-ups and attempting to be smart. This news doesn't hurt my enthusiasm for this project, i have high confidence there will be a Cap-centeric Marketing onslaught well before release date.

"Isnt AMAZING" doesnt necessarily mean its not good. It could just be the studio wanting the footage to be more action packed and exiting so that the audience will deffinetely see it. The footage by our standerds could be awesome but to the average movie goer could be meh

I think people should stop thinking of Joe Johnston as the guy who directed The Wolfman and remember that he's also the guy who directed The Rocketeer and October Sky. These are the movies that make him right for Captain America.
