Teabag-
believe me when I say: you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. This show is based on the Ice and Fire series by George R R Martin. It is nothing short of face melting. Try the books out. There are no good guys vs bad guys- everyone is a shade of grey, and there is NO "dark lord ascending in the East".

They are dark, exciting, full of twists and turns, bloody, and full of awesome characters and dialogue. There is gore, adult language, incest, betrayal, great plot development, and again awesome awesome characters- madmen, megalomaniacs, butchers, schemers, mauled knights, a sarcastic dwarf, drunks, bastards, and nasty dudes.

The story is about the power struggle between the nobles in a fantasy realm, while an exiled prince and princess plan regaining the stolen throne from across the ocean. All the while a mysterious race of "others" that have been considered only legend are reappearing in the snowy north after thousands of years.

Giant Kangaroos would be super sweet tea!!

@Jvtrain AGREED BROTHER! If this series is half as good as the books then were in for a treat

I am so pumped for this show. The books are some of the best there is. Jvtrain is exactly right with the description. It's such a grey story that you can never really see what's coming next.

Sorry, Tea...no giant Kangaroos. But there are giant wolfs...and mammoths later.

@necroscope I loved the sword of truth books BUT the show was garbage!! I wish HBO had picked up that series too.

I am sooooooo excited to see game of thrones!!! WOO! the book was amazing and I can't wait to see the sequels! Game of thrones...I keep it next to my LOTR, if some of you haven't read this series, please do. It's a great series of books.

Necroscope . . . I found George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" books to be much better than Jorden's "Wheel of Time." It is superbly written with unique, surprisingly complex characters and unexpected plot twists. While the story has twists, the story flows logically and consistantly from the characters. The good guys have significant flaws, the bad guys are appealing, and there are a lot of "grey" characters. It is definitely not a kid's story with lots of battles, gore and sex. And political intregue.

This series looks like it has great casting, too. Sean Bean and Lena Headly seem perfect. And Peter Dinkledge is probably the best "little person" actor playing one of the best "little person" roles ever, Tyrion Lannister. Tyrion has become one of my favorite characters from any story

HBO will do the series justice. Well, as much as any tv series/movie can...look if Martin's books are anything, they are a compelling case for the entertainment value of reading. Something far too few of us (people in general, not followers of this site of course) are doing.

Martin was pretty hands-on with this project, so I expect it to be somewhat loyal to his story. Definitely psyched for this one!

I really hope this does justice to the books. I've never been so optimistic about a series adapted from novels I love.
