Billy Zane. That's right, apparently nearly 40% of you believe that that man would have the chops to pull of Lex Luthor. And just over 20% of you think it should be Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum. Ok, I just make the polls, you guys decide em. John Hamm came in third with 7%.

I just cant get my head around the fact that the majority of votes went to Zane, he would bring nothing to the role and hasn't the calibre to carry such a well known and prestigious role, just my opinion of course.

Above is a link to a face-off between Billy Zane and Viggo Mortensen. Obviously Viggo won. But if you really look at Billy Zane's career overall at the link it wasn't that bad. His domestic box-office stats were pretty darn good. I'd say he definitely isn't a B-level actor. He's an A-level but maybe not as much as the other A-levels are.

I'd love for Zane to be Lex. He looks and sounds just like Clancy Brown's Lex. But again I doubt he will get the role. Most likely IF Lex is in the film, it'll be an unknown face and name. This Adam Harris guy...I keep thinking he won't be Lex. Maybe he's just trying to get his name out there but who knows...

There is no doubt he looks the part. Like others have said, I just don't see him having the chops to play him. Something about him screams B actor, it could be his resume...

I like David Anders or Arnold Vosloo. I don't like Zane but i have never really seen him in anything.

It's amazing how many people vote based on look alone. And forget about whether the actor is able to really deliver. Billy Zane should have been the last choice. He's by far a really campy actor.

@Vital- Exactly dude! In Titanic he was the villain you loved to hate, he was such a douchebag you just wanted to hit him in the face. that is exactly what Lex Luthor SHOULD be in the movie.

A good director can make a mediocre actor into a great one. I think BZ is a career villain actor and all the crap he's acted in were lead "face" roles. I say give him a try, it's not like superman returns was a masterpiece.

I think Zane is a very weak choice, he's bald but that's about it. I agree he was good in Titanic, but that was like 15 years ago and he hasn't done anything good since.

This is a weird poll though, I'd like to see one with some better actors (like Viggo and Olyphant) and then see how Zane does.

Ok maybe Billy Zane can't act. But the last time I heard majority of the fans wants a new main Villain in the reboot and Luthor as a minor character.

@Vital and LP4-- I agree he was great in Titanic. You love to hate him but still he exudes aristocratic smoothness.

It wouldn't be any more disappointing than the rest of Snyder's cast, in fact, it would be quite consistent: big names for bit parts in an attempt to lend credibility. My opinion is Zane's campy Titanic performance was very comic book-like, so he'd be perfect ;)

If you HAVE to have Lex Luthor, then I like Zane and Ed Harris as choices.
BUT, honestly I'm sick of Lex Luthor. Got major Lex Luthor fatigue.
I'd like to see someone else quite honestly. The same goes for General Zod. I'd like to see someone fresh and new if possible.
