Comic writer Mark Millar has summed up his thoughts on Green lantern in a few short Tweets.



“I hereby declare Green Lantern the worst superhero movie ever made. And yes I count The Phantom and The Shadow as superhero movies.

Green Lantern was the cheapest-looking 300 million dollar movie I’ve ever seen. Why didn’t they give that money (to) Africa?

It had a couple of good moments, all coming from Mark Strong. But oh man.

It was just such an ODD movie. Like it travelled here from a parallel universe where they made a Green Lantern movie in 1995.

But it was only eight quid and thus worth it. And I know I’ll go and see it again ”


Ouch! Harsh words Marky. Let's not get carried away now, hasn't he seen Catwoman? Elektra? Iron Man 2?;) Anyway, at least he said he is seeing it again. Maybe we could convince him to see it another 5,000 times to ensure DC fork out for a Flash movie?

it certainly doesn't look like a $300,000,000 movie,but worse comic book movie ever made i don't think so.

it can't be worse than jonah hex,catwoman,elektra,howard,priest & so on.

Too bad this guy can't write comics worth a crap.

Pretty harsh though. I don't think it was that bad. Disappointing? Yes. Worst superhero movie? No. Batman & Robin still holds that one, IMO.

He's probably only complementing Mark Strong because of Kick Ass, which was crap. The only good part about THAT boring pile of tripe was Nic Cage being burned alive.

He's probably just mad because it lacked wife-beating and incestuous relationships. Seriously, Mark Millar is only an okay writer. But for some reason he thinks every superhero has to be [frick]ed up in the head. He made The Blob and Giant Man goddamned cannibals.

I'm more than likely going to enjoy this.

IM2 was a joke guys, don't winky faces mean the same thing anymore! IM2 was disappointing, and there are a LOT of fans that won't admit it's short comings..so that's why I put it in there:)

I know Millar spouts off a lot but cmon, he is by no means a bad writer, he CAN be a pretty damn great writer..but yeah, he does get a bit carried away with making things as extreme as possible.

@Intruder: I wouldn't put Iron Man 2 anywhere near the worst CBM's ever made. Superman Returns would be more appropriate.

going to see the movie 2morrow anyway to judge the film properly.

to me it seems like when u casted a actor who star in a X-Men movie then star in a DC/WB film the movie becomes a epic fail i.e.

Halle Berry played Storm then she play Catwoman and that film failed.

James Marsden played Cyclops then he was in Superman Returns and that movie failed.

Ryan Reynolds played Deadpool then now he played Green Lantern now that movie seem like it failed.

So much hate for Iron Man 2 and I don't know why... I mean, to me it did feel like an extended trailer for The Avengers, but it was still a damn entertaining film, and at some point audiences who aren't comic book fans like us had to have The Avengers' presence known to them (the studios need bums in seats remember! It's the mainstream audiences that make these comic book movies happen!).

That being said I have only seen it the once... :P hahaha

Harsh words man. I agree with the other posters, no way it can be as bad as Batman and Robin, Elektra, Wolverine, Catwoman. But I will find out shortly. I just want it to make some money to warrant a sequel. New director and hopefully they will take all the criticsm to heart and fix it.

marvel72- I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as those films. I don't think it measures up to Thor & FC. They do follow the comics pretty closely, keep a lot of the mythology in tact. the editing is just what ruins most of it for me. More time was needed, and it needed to be spent on OA. Everything on OA ends way too quickly.

I really want to see the sinestro corp come to the big screen.

I JUST WANNA SAY [frick] THE CRITICS AND THE MARVEL FANBOYZ THAT KEEP HATING ON GREEN LANTERN...THAT MOVIE WAS TOUGH AZ SHIT AND IT HAD TWICE MORE ACTION THEN [frick]IING THOR HAD...OKAY I ADMIT THAT IT HAD SOME LOOP HOLES BUT COME ON, FOR A FILM THAT WAS ONLY 1HR AND 45MINS THEY FIXED ALOT INTO IT AND IT WORKED FOR THE MOST PART...MY ONLY COMPLAIN IS I WISH WE COULD GET MORE KILOWAG AND TOMAR RE BUT DONT WORRY IM SURE THE SEQUEL WILL HAVE MORE LANTERNS IN ACTION BECAUSE THIS FIRST MOVIE WAS CLEARY JUST ABOUT HAL OVERCOMING FEAR...IM READY FOR THE SEQUEL BRING IT
