Official GI Joe 2 Title Revealed, & It's Not "Cobra Strikes"

As an add on to the article Ed posted detailing the movie's new release date, Deadline have also revealed that the sequel to the horrendous Gi Joe: Rise Of Cobra will be called..

While covering the release date switches between JJ Abrams' Star Trek sequel and the second GI Joe flick, Deadline fairly casually drop the new title for Jon Chu's movie into the following paragraph..

I'm told that the studio will give that slot to G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the sequel that will be directed by Jon M. Chu and stars Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing.

Retaliation. Against what, audiences? Anyway, despite being awful the first movie made lots of money so a sequel was inevitable. In fairness it has attracted The Rock as Roadblock which might be worth a watch, and there are rumors of Bruce Willis being in talks to star as the "Original Joe". I am also aware that the first movie did have it's fans so maybe there is some anticipation for this. Well?

Yeah, I'm one of the few who actually liked the film. :P The script was nonexistent, but the action was enough to keep me interested.
Hoping the sequel's good.

G.I. Joe was a terrible, terrible movie..... but I [frick]in loved it! Let's be real now, you can't expect any G.I. Joe film to win an academy award. Just enjoy it for the brainless action flick that it's supposed to be.

I am kind of interested. The first was bad but fun in a way (much better then the 3 transformers films). It also comes out on my birthday now, so I got reasons to see it (But it's got a lot to do to fill the whole left in my heart from Star Trek 2). I just hope they have Cobra Commander in it, get a new actor just give me Cobra Commander.

COBRA!!!

How can we expect a good GI Joe film Deadpool?

GI Joe: Resolute = What should have been on the silver screen.

It amazes me how an animated short film can better embody the essence of GI Joe better than a movie with a $175 Million budget.

The first one was alright for what it was... a Stephen Sommers film. And why does it look like Viggo Mortensen & Jennifer Garner in the pic?

When I watch a movie I'm looking for more than mindless action sequences there's got to be a story surrounding those sequences to make them relevant.

Why couldn't they have titled this GI Joe: Cobra La La La La La! or GI Joe: The Viper is Coming.

BellHorneKing

"Retaliation? Against what? The audience?"

LOL

They must have picked Tatum because of his All American accent. If, by all American, you mean a cross between Valley Girl, Hillbilly, Inner City slang, and various grunts.

I'm honesty shocked that they didn't call it GI Joe: the rise of cobra RISES.
