Now that we have had a much closer look at the suit Henry Cavill will sport as Supes in Zack Snyder's reboot, what do you make of the new details?

So we now know that Zack Snyder's Superman will be ditching the red undies. But we also now know that the overall design of the outfit will be very different from anything we have seen before. We have a much darker look than any previous incarnations as well as some additions to the back and sides just above the waist, giving the impression of a type of belt. As well as similarly designed gauntlets. The cape for the most part remains pretty similar, with early worries that it would be approaching a wine/burgundy color instead of it's classic red quashed by the above pics. Cavill has clearly got into great shape for the role but there appears to be some "enhancements" to the suit too.

So what do you think of the suit now that every last little detail is on display?

I do really like it and it looks like the new DC look... The underwear outside is old. I though of Batman like that awhile ago. I just wish Supes had a red belt. This works.

Umm read my comments on the 5 other simular posts. This one is just a duplicstr/more of the same.

Needs classic trunks design it looks too generic without it, random "alien" attachments look wierd and serve no design or practical purpose, looks a bit less rubbery than the first picture. might be ok if there are limited wide shots and no capeless shots. Looks very scuba suit from the back

I really like it - but are they changing the details of the creation of the suit too? I mean, could Ma Kent has 'thrown this together' with a needle and thread?

I think it looks cool. The only thing I would change is the belt, it could have done with being a little wider and either more yellow or red to break the body up. That said definitely two thumbs up !!

Very happy with it. I'm glad the trunks have gone, it honestly looks better without them in my opinion... There's more emphasis on the red cape and red "S" shield this way...

I've always said that it all depends on the script.

If the script is awesome = Awesome Costume.

Script Sucks = Costume sucks!


I'm actually more interested in the Clark Kent portrayal in this film (With Glasses). Will he be a more assured Clark or the same geeky Clark. This will make or break the film IMHO.

I'm glad they went with a different look. It has a more alien/krytptonian feel to it,,which imo it should for this present adaptation.

I think it's money. The suit looks like it has been used which if you're flying in the air it is going to get dirty. The suit is certainly padded and veins are imposed as there is no way his veins would pop through the material. Also, it looks comfortable so that is a plus. Yes I think they could have had more red in it; maybe not have the briefs but maybe a red belt of some kind. As some of you know the belt can be practical as he keeps a Krypto Rock in it.

All in all I trust the vision. They tried other directors trying to go the religion vision on Supes I feel that Snyder will bring feeling but most importantly action and Nolan's influence will offer some grounding to the story. Watch other Snyder movies and one thing they do well is music; let's get away from the score and bring in some rock. There is a scene in Sucker Punch when the girl fights the Samurai and it is awesome as it scored with base pounding, guitar licking music.

This movie will surprise many people.

Are you kidding me?! This isn't superman at all. Do the filmmakers know who superman is? All the colors on his suit are muted to dark; What happened to wearing bright colors so so he would be spotted a mile away earning the trust of people who otherwise would have been scared of a over powered god? His costume is supposed to look friendly people. And another thing; Superman suit looks to alien. His suit shouldn't look alien, it is supposed to look like a humble farm boy's limited perception of his alien world. It isn't a kryptonian artifact, it is a home-made tribute made from fabric of where he came from.

Because his story is about trying to find his own identity and working hard to make it his own. When he wears his uniform, it's supposed to symbolize wearing who he made for himself. His costume is't just given to him, it isn't just his kryptonian self it is a compomise of both his kryptonian heritage and the values he learn from earth.

So I hate this suit. If it's just telling who superman is, Routh's is better. Whats with all the added alien decoration? How can he even hide those inside his business suit?

Look I admit Henry Caville looks great in it, they even nailed the muscle definition and I'm welcome for changes; but not if it changes the essence of superman.

Besides there is nothing wrong with his red undies, if it is just a red part of his pants. This all seem like change for the sake of change.

I'm with @dbatman everyone knows that Superman is alien and he has always tried to de-emphasize that now WB, Nolan and Snyder decide that emphasizing it and making the suit darker and less Superman-like will make Superman more relatable and inviting to a younger generation.

I hope that they kept the essence of Superman, he is supposed to be the every-man, not just stomping the big baddies but helping clean up the crime of Metropolis and helping people in need. Not some brooding, dark, and damaged character who feels the need to express himself through his heroic actions.

I'm not going to judge the movie on the suit, I'm not a fan of the suit but I am of Superman and as someone else has stated I also want to see what they do with his Clark Kent side.

Am I the only one who thinks it looks like he is wearing blue bubble-wrap? I never thought Bryan Singer would make a manlier superman suit than Zack Snyder. I do like the bigger symbol though. Oh well, at least the cape will hide most of that ugly shit.

I like the suit I like how up to date it is, how current and modern it is, but, I partially agree with dbatman where the hell would a farmboy get a suit like this? This is supposed to be a modern cinematic representation of Superman you have to expect some alterations, like maby Ma doesnt make the suit in the movie maby it is a relic from Krypton, and the fact that his sheild looks like an "S" is coincidental it is actually a collection of shapes where the negative image looks like an "S" the symbol of his families house. As for his personality and public image, If Superman really did exist and was introduced in this day and age could he really up hold the " Blue Boyscout " image frome the comics? Or would he be a little rougher around the edges? If were are going for a movie that is as realistic as you can get having an Alien wearing tights with the powers of a God flying around saving the world, the acceptence of the world would not be as smoothly aquired as it was in the comics. I think there would be alot of fear especialy from the governments of the world.

Either way I am a Superman fan right down to the marrow and I just want to see an awesome Superman movie. I will take the movies as movies and keep them seperate from the comics as long as the don't go completly mental and stray to far from the source material.
