Michael Shannon Speaks Briefly On Playing General Zod In Man Of Steel

Michael Shannon might be the most mysterious element of Zack Snyder's Superman reboot left. With only very brief glimpses (if it even was him) on the set and even less from the man himself on playing the role. But now in the new issue of Total Film the actor finally breaks his silence, although he doesn't really get into the specifics of the character.

He tells the mag that he recently watched Terence Stamp play Zod in Superman 2..

"I found that intimidating. He nailed it. My girlfriend was watching Superman 2 and I said "Turn it off, I can't watch, I'm not worthy!".

He also talks up his co-star Henry Cavill and says that he has been studying the comic books in preparation and has also been putting in some serious gym time..

"Every time I see him I think "There's Superman". He's got it down"

"If you're playing a General you should be fit. A General wouldn't be fat!"

@mikesinuman

i said this many, many times Perry White make sense to be black heres why LOL

every surname with black or white in their name are people of other race i.e.

Shane Black = White
Jack Black = White
Steve Blackman = White lol

Michael Jai White = Black
Brian J. White = Black
Barry White = Black

see it make so much sense Perry White is black LOL

So did he just say that he put time in the gym and gained some much needed muscle for the role?!? He better had! Or they better give him a padded suit too cuz I want to see a physically intimidating Zod, not only mentally frightening.

He's one ugly dude with that creepy factor. I think he will be great. This film is going to be amazing!

Sweet, I'm sure he'll be a great General Zod who is probably my favorite Superman villain but in a sequal they should have Braniac with Lex as a minor character, like the one who releases him on the world. BTW, what would a sequal be called?

But yeah I liked Terrence Stamp's Zod but if it hadn't been for how scrawny Christopher Reeve was Terrence would have looked like a little old man in a black cardigan. Zod is mentally intemidating but in the comics he's also buff.I might even go for some crazy orange raybands like in the comics
