TDKR: Nestor Carbonell Says Christopher Nolan's Last Batman Movie "Goes Out Big"

Nestor Carbonell has shot his last scenes for The Dark Knight Rises and while at the CW Premier party last night the actor chatted to MTV about reprising the role of Mayor Garcia in what is pretty much confirmed (nothing to say he can't change his mind) to be Christopher Nolan's last Batman flick.

"I finished [filming] about a month ago in Pittsburgh. It was a lot of fun, it's nice to go back to Chris Nolan's world.

"He has announced that this is his last go at 'Batman' but yeah, if it is the last for him, he certainly goes out big. It's massive. What I saw of the sets was just unbelievable. When we were shooting a particular scene I snuck around to see the image on the dolly of what the D.P., Wally Pfister, Academy Award Winner [was shooting]. I looked and immediately thought, 'Wow, I see why he is who he is, it's beautifully framed, beautifully shot, half is on IMAX."

Carbonell goes on to talk about how Nolan has made a psychological thriller and not just a CBM..

"He's one of these amazing storytellers in our generation, he's one of the guys who's taken that genre and grounded it and done something with it that hasn't done before. He's made it that much more real, much more accessible, and he's made a psychological thriller out of all of them, so he's great, he's amazing."

MTV then ask him if Garcia will see any more action this time around?

"It's really hard for me to say. I can't say, but it was great to re-team with a cast, the old guard," he said. "Great to see Mr Oldman, he's the man. You've seen the trailer, already you can tell the guy is unbelievable."

Well if it's not a CBM why are we reporting it?

Can't it be a psychologically thrilling comic book movie?

Embrace the CBM Carbonell!!!

@greengo, I know! Totally agree with what you said. That's why I get annoyed when people call these films the greatest CBM ever, when they aren't really CBMs.

Warner won't let Chris Nolan kill Batman because they have already stated they will try to continue his series with him as Exec. Producer so I'm curious if maybe Batman realizes he needs help at the end and you see a bunch of newspaper articles about villain and then hear him talking to Robin.

@SKOne They're going to reboot this franchise anyway after Nolan's done with it so it doesn't really matter.

@AgardianGangsta: A movie about Batman is a CBM.

That was my point anyways.

I feel pretty certain that despite all the "news" we are allowed to get from the brothers Warner we actually know very little about this movie. I am expecting to be really surprised come opening day. Looking forward to this movie and Avengers.

While we are talking about an else worlds story such as Nolan's Batman movies. Something I'd like to see.

That video seems to be more interesting than the batman movies so far. I think they should make it into an elseworlds comic.

saying that I liked the dark knight is too mainstream for me (I'm a rogue, you see), so I like pretending that it wasn't good. who's with me?

I'm getting kinda scared with everyone talking about Chris going out with a bang. I mean what if he kills off Batman? But then again, I would hate if it just ends with Batman standing on a gargoyle looking over Gotham.

@GuardianAngel That's funny. Those are the only two ways it could end.
GuardianAngel
GuardianAngel - 9/12/2011, 8:28 PM
(I did not come up with this) Batman ends the final battle, or whatever is at the end, and as he looks at Gotham he hears Alfred's voice coming from his earpice, "Batman I hope you don't plan on staying up very late tonight, because Bruce Wayne has an appointment at Haley's Circus in one hour." BOOM!!
