The rumor mill has suggested that WB are reshuffling some of their upcoming tentpole movies. With The Hobbit getting pushed back, and Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel winning it's original Dec 2012 spot back again..

Word is that Warner Bros might be playing a bit or release date chess with two of their biggest movies yet. According to TMT Peter Jackson's Hobbit movies are not going quite to schedule and he may struggle to meet the December 14th release date for the first of the two prequels; "An Unexpected Journey". Apparently he is open to delaying the release until the following year which would allow Zack Snyder's Superman reboot to swoop in and reclaim it's original Christmas 2012 spot.

One scenario we're hearing involves the studio moving The Man of Steel, the Christopher Nolan-“Godfathered” Superman revival with Zack Snyder wearing the director cap into that Christmas ’12 slot. We've been told that production is flying as fast as the Big Blue himself with shooting to wrap early February, and scenes already being edited and sent out to various post-production houses as I type this.


The site themselves stress that nothing is official here so this could all be untrue but if it's not, we get not only The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man and TDKR next year but Man Of Steel too. 2012 would truly be the year of the CBM. Again! Of course it also means we don't get to see The Hobbit for a longer while either, but hey, can't have everything. Which would you prefer to keep the 2012 release?

Well, good news for Hobbit fans, bad news for Supes fans. Update from WB - "Contrary to inaccurate reports - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is being released on December 14, 2012" - Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures."

WTF people? Why the negative reactions. It sounds like the Hobbit has fallen behind and will get pushed back any way. With WB potentially having a superhero movie in the summer and in the winter may start a trend for them. If they are successful than hopefully we can look foward to seeing a couple of our heroes a year. The Flash and Wonder Woman one year; Green Lantern sequel/remake and Aquaman another year, for example. I think sounds like great news. The Hobbit will come out regardless. I have been waiting for a good, action packed Superman movie my whole life. This is going to be great!

I don't know if this is good or bad. I'll be old as dirt by the time Hobbit is released, but it would be nice to have TDKR and MOS in the same year and both be good.

It sounds like the whole point of this is to not have to rush it - it says that The Hobbit needs the time whereas Supes is ahead of schedule. If it looks like it'll be finished by then, why make us wait 6 more months?

Over, I can't actually! But I know they have got the od dthing in the past so thought it was worth running as a rumor. I'm sure we will find out soon enough if it's legit anyway.

As for WB rushing Supes, well the impression the article gives is that it moved ahead of schedule and giving what we have seen from it that isn't hard to believe. Snyder was a beast.

Considering I am excited about The Hobbit and not overly excited about the Man of Steel film, this is disappointing news to me, but if they need more time for The Hobbit, so be it. I will be patient.

I am far more looking forward to The Hobbit than I am to Man of Squeal, but I don't want to see The Hobbit rushed to the screen if it's running a little behind on things. Take the time and do it right. I don't mind waiting a little longer.

If Superman is completed properly in time, and Hobbit is going to be delayed anyway, then yeah, swap their dates. It'd be cool to have new Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man movies in the same year, and Avengers would be the icing on the cake!
