UPDATE: MIRROR MIRROR's Lilly Collins Is The First Cast Member Announced For EVIL DEAD Remake

We know Ash won't be a part of the new movie, we know it will pretty much follow the same plot but with a less comedic tone (although really, the original movie WAS more horror than comedy), and now we know the first cast member..

Bloody Disgusting has learned exclusively that Lily Collins (The Blind Side, Priest, Mirror Mirror) is in final negotiations to play "Mia" in FilmDistrict's reboot aiming for release on April 12, 2013.

Well, that's a pretty big casting coup for Ghost House and Mandate imo. Collins is a star on the rise and Mirror Mirror will no doubt cement her status. Mia is the character that is a recovering addict, and the first one to notice something is very wrong with the cabin which her and her pals are occupying. I was against this, I'm still against it. But this is solid casting and I'm willing to see what Director Fede Alvarez comes up with. It's not as if we have a choice anyway is it?

UPDATE: Bloody Disgusting have posted an update revealing that Mia will be the lead role in the movie. In other words the female equivalent of Ash, played by Bruce Campbell in the original.
