VIDEO: Amazing Opening Title Credits For THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

David Fincher's remake of TGWTDT has been out for a while now, but this is the first time the incredible title sequence, set to the strains of Trent Reznor and Karen Oh's cover of Led Zepplin's "Immigrant Song", has been available in HD quality..

So we know that there is a comic book adaptation of this movie in the works from DC Vertigo, but to be honest even if there wasn't this is something every film fan - CBM or otherwise - really should see.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Opening Titles from Onur Senturk on Vimeo.

Something else eh? The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is showing now, and although I question the point of the movie being that it is practically identical to the Swedish original, for what it is it's great. Check it out.

Side note, Wolvie just brought to my attention that the director of the sequence is one Tim Miller, who will be directing the Deadpool movie. Just a short sequence but still good to know.

I liked the movie. I saw both versions, and while I can't say which one was better, I can say that the opening credits for the Fincher version wins.

The black ooze reminds me of the potential that Venom could bring to the silver screen in a visual sense. I didn't like the aesthetic that the rubber suit version brought in 2007.

Fincher's film was far superior a production to the Swedish adaptation and far more effective with its delivery by a mile. iIn terms of accuraccy Fincher managed to get more of the book details into his version that the Swedish one left out like Mikaels daughter's contribution for example and he also had drew more extraordinary performances out of great scene stealers like Christopher Plummer.

Daniel Craigs Mikael was far superior as an investigative reporter than Swedens Michael Nyqvist and Rooney Mara simply hit the nail as Lisbeth. The big change to the end revelation is a massive departure from the book but it serves to set both versions apart and not have the plot hole that the original had with the simple trace of the picture postage being so obvious! The Lisbeth end in Finchers version is the way the book ends too, the Swedish version only get it right in the extended version of their theatrical cut.

I don't normally like remakes but this isn't one, its a solid adaptation of the book, not a remake of the Swedish movie and its use of sound, music and visuals simply set it in another ball park from the Swedish version, its worth every penny!

It's like if a computer goth took a crap load of drugs and was then hired to do an opening for a bond film

That's very impressive, now I'm more excited about seeing what Miller could do with Deadpool. What's the song playing there?

Ceejay, that's your opinion. Personally I thought the acting was superior in the Swedish version, not by much but I thought they were more convincing as those characters. Also, it is a remake. It just is. Despite a few changes and additions it's practically identical. Now I know Fincher and co say they never even watched the original etc (ahem, bullshit) but if that's the case I guess it's just one hell of coincidence. I didn't necessarily prefer the original, I do love both movies. But imo Fincher didn't do enough differently to justify a reason for making it. And it seems as if the box office reflects that too.

Well @Ror if the studio is to be believed, Fincher had his flick in development for a while longer before the Swedish version. Apparently Fincher was none to happy that the Sweedish flick got made, and refused to recognize it. Forget where I read that, I will try to pull a link.

@PaulRom- That amazing song playing during the credits is Immigrant Song by the legendary Led Zeppelin. It fits perfect, glad to see it put to good use.

im also glad to hear that despite it not doing too well profits wise, they're still pushing ahead with the two sequels, since they feel the critically reception and award buzz is more important than the money

I finally saw the film yesterday, and I thought the opening was just plain awesome, and I wasn't even expecting anything thing like that, but I like how it pretty much set the tone for the movie. Also imo I thought this was better than the Swedish version, which I loved btw. This movie was brilliant, and it shows why David Fincher is one of my favorite directors.

It was good movie but to me the characters in the swedish version seemed more convincing. Might be the fact that they were actually swedish.

Im happy the swedish version got made first. After all the story is made by swedish person and is based in sweden.

@CherryBomb Karen O's voice is indeed awesome (as well as her style), but Robert Plant simply cannot be matched.

Very interesting opening sequence... I haven't checked this movie out yet due to being so satisfied with the Swedish version (and loving Noomi as Lisbeth), but it's definitely worth a rental for me.

@sarahsatire True! but it's just a cover so there's no competition. XD I don't think anyone else could've covered it better though than Karen O
