Late MAN OF STEEL Casting News; Richard Schiff Joins As "Dr. Hamilton"

As production starts up again on Zack Snyder's Superman flick, we have a late addition to the cast in Emmy Award winning actor Richard Schiff..

Variety report that Richard Schiff, the Emmy Award winning West Wing actor, will join the cast of Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel as a character "dubbed" Dr. Hamilton.



Yes, dubbed, but before you jump to any Lex Luthor type conclusions, "Professor Emil Hamilton" is a comic book character. He has appeared in numerous Superman stories, most recently in a villainous capacity as he begins to see Supes as a potential threat to the world. It is unknown where his loyalties will lie in Man Of Steel. A younger incarnation of the character also appeared in Smallville. Schiff has appeared in numerous movies and tv shows including Se7en, Jurassic Park 2, ER and The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Dr. Hamilton is a character that appears in the comics and has been featured on Superman: TAS and Justice League Unlimited.

Excellent casting. Dr. Emil Hamilton has always been one of my favorite supporting characters in Superman stories. Can we get Maggie Sawyer and/or Dan Turpin??!

Cool! It's about time the Superman movies use other supporting cast members, from the comics, besides Daily Planet employees and citizens of Smallville. Superman has such a massive amount of interesting supporting characters. It gets tiring seeing only Lois, Jimmy, Perry, Ma & Pa, and Lana.

@KamenRiderJ22: Hamilton was originally from the comics, first off. It seems people have foregotten that, and Proffessor Hamilton works/is associated with for S.T.A.R. Labs not the Cadmus Project. In the comics, he has always been a former employee of S.T.A.R. Labs, but he is often shown as having access to their Labs. Hamilton is more of a mechanical genius then an expert on genetics or biology, which is why he works at S.T.A.R. Labs. Cadmus Project is a government facility dedicated entirely to cloning, gentic modification, bio-engineering, and etc. while S.T.A.R. Labs is features a whole lot of different studies and projects. Hamilton has designed utlra advanced prothetics, androids, and interdimensional portal devices in the comics.

Dr. Hamilton, very nice addition. I've never seen the actor before, though, but I believe he's a good one.
