Not much in the way of news, but we have many Oldman fans here who should find this of interest. The amount of great performances Gary Oldman has given over the years is hard to count. Even when his movie choices have been a bit on the dodgy side, he pretty much always delivers and more often than not excels. After years of fans campaigning for some Oscar recognition he was finally nominated for best actor in a leading role for Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy. Of course CBM fans know him best as Jim Gordon in Christopher Nolan's Bat-flicks. In an interview with The Wrap Oldman discusses his past roles and how he feels about being nominated. He says that in the past he has stepped away from the Oscar campaigning but now since he has been nominated, he is determined not to let the stress get to him and just enjoy the ride..
I'm enjoying it. It becomes quite frenetic, and you notice a lot of stress around you that could contaminate you. And I'm really stepping back from that, and embracing the ride. I'm determined to enjoy every bloody minute of it.
Oldman also reveals that Nolan gave him a parting gift after his final shot in what will surely be his final Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. We can't glean any info as to what that shot may entail, except that it is most likely set on a roof! Exciting eh?
They gave me a very funny gift after my last shot on ["The Dark Knight Rises."] I was standing on a rooftop with Chris Nolan, and they gave me a shadow box, in this black frame. Inside it was my badge, my glasses and a mustache that they stick on the stuntmen. So they even retired my mustache. It was a lovely, funny little gift at the end of it all, and a lovely keepsake.
