In May DC's New 52 will introduce its "second wave" with the addition of a parallel Earth that features prominently into both Earth 2 and Worlds' Finest. We will meet some new characters, and some new versions of familiar ones. Below is our first glimpse at Jim Lee's "Earth 2 Batman"..



Says Earth 2 editor Pat McCallum..

“Who will Batman kill to save his own daughter?. Right out of the gate that should tell you we’re dealing with a different kind of Dark Knight here. More ruthless, dangerous…the costume is familiar and yeah, there is a Wayne under the mask, but we’re looking at a man desperate to save the only family he has left. EARTH 2 is about to become a very bad place to be a bad guy.”

Given the fact that this Batman is using escrima sticks, I can't help but feel like this is Dick Grayson.

But it says there's a wayne under the mask, so i'm think it's damian influenced by dick and past robins or a return of the 1930s style bruce wayne who kills people

True, but in the past comics, Gordon would refer to Dick as one of the Waynes

Cannot wait for Earth2! It seems like this JSA will have the Big three as members. We still don't know if this Earth's time is running concurrently with New Earths. Interesting to see how GL Alan Scott and Jay Garrick will look. This Batman may also be Thomas Wayne. I saw the cover for the first issue, the bug three were battling Darkseid's parademons. Great looks for Supes and WW.

Looks good....He looks smaller in frame and the Escrimas does scream, one of the Robins. Dick would use them but is less likely to be a killer then any other Robin and is not a Wayne. Tim Drake actually was adopted and did become a Wayne, he would also use a staff always. Still he is less likely to be a killer then Grayson. It's not Todd.....

So it could be Damian as it does resemble a darker Batman and he is using the escrimas which is the weapon of his first real teacher in the ways of a crime-fighter. He would also be the one that kills when needed. So is earth 2 gonna be like a Future of DCU before Flashpoint? Cause that would be awesome!!

Like Neonhero, I thought the entire purpose of the "New DC", and several Crisis storylines before that, was to clean up the mess and reader confusion with the multiple Earths. So why go back to it again?

I'm also disapproving of a murdering Batman. That's such an obvious way to go with things, and it has certainly been done before. Why not try an UNEXPECTED twist on the character, like a flamboyant comedic-joke-telling Batman?

I keep looking at it, and I don't completely hate the design. I think I'd like it better without the cape. Which...makes him look like Daredevil with a pointy-eared cowl, just like people are saying already.

Anyways, I just don't feel like I'm looking at Batman, and if he's going to be killing people, I'm sure I won't feel like I'm reading Batman either.

I don't know how I'll feel about the other characters, but as far as I'm concerned, this Earth 2 Batman feels like it'll just be disappointing...

They still got him looking all militant/work wear:( That's GI JOE/CAPTAIN AMERICA territory, he should look more like a modern knight. I don't mean full plate armor all the time, but a more modern medieval flare, like ROBIN, or the same period as. That would also make ROBIN's costume fit better w/ BATMAN:) Just sayin!!

Dark green cape? Yeah I think its safe to assume hes a Batman/ Robin hybrid character... probably because Robin may not exist in Earth 2.

Like police and other law enforcement he may have had to kill if he had no other alternative to stop the perpetrators. So let's not label Batman a murderer until we read the story and circumstances.

I agree with the theory that it might be Damian under the cowl, using Dick weapons and techniques. I think Elena is his adoptive daughter, wich would explain the lack of age difference.
