Glen Mazzara On THE WALKING DEAD Seasons 3 AND 4; Seems TYRESE Will Be Introduced

The showrunner held a conference call yesterday and hinted at how both the next season, and the one after should shape up. He also says that Tyrese - a very popular character from the comics - is someone they are "interested" in..

Mazzara covered a lot of Walking Dead ground in a conference call yesterday. He addressed the appearance of Michonne at the end of the season 2 finale, as well as the direction they will be going with a few of our already established characters. But most interestingly he discussed the Prison we glimpsed in the final shot of the episode, and exactly how much of the next season our survivors would be spending there. A lot! In fact he says that storyline will carry over to season 4 too. Also, good news for fans of Tyrese, it seems T-Dog won't be assuming the role of that character after all, there are plans to bring him in..

"Right now, I do see the prison storyline lasting through both Season 3 and 4. I do think that is a major storyline. I know we were on the farm, perhaps, longer than people wanted. There were reasons for that. What we want is for that prison to not feel claustrophobic. I think the farm played a little claustrophobic for some people. Now that the entire landscape has fallen victim to the zombie apocalypse, zombies are literally at the gates of this prison. That prison is a very small safe corner. There is a lot of danger around. It won't feel like we are bottled up, the way we were on the farm. I do think that prison is a significant storyline, but we are also interested in opening up this world. The Governor has the world of Woodbury. There are other factors out there, other groups. I do think that Rick's group is stumbling into a much larger world."

"There is a lot of great material from the comic book. This show would have to go on for twenty years to get to all of it. I think the Tyrese character is someone we are interested in introducing at some point. We still have Morgan and Dwayne, who are out there from the pilot. We are interested in them. There are new characters that will be original too the series. Not coming straight from the comic book. I think the first two seasons have served as a prologue. Now we are hitting the ground running. I see Season 3 resetting the show in terms of what I really hope to convey."

He also promises that T-Dog will have much more to do, and if you don't like Lori, that's probably not going to change! Click the link below to read the rest of the interview.

Well now we can finally either kill T-Dog or make him an interesting character.

T-Dogg (Why are they still calling him that??) is the poor man's Tyreese. I freakin love the bond he and Rick have, and I hope that AMC Rick gets to have that. It seems like, especially now, everyone is against the poor guy for starting a Rictatorship.

I think the prison will shut up the naysayers and give a lot to the story. I think they're doing great, even though they slowed down. I trust Glen Mazzara, The Shield was great. You can almost notice the point where Darabont left and Mazzara took over.

I think if they do it right, Season 3 will blow everyone out of the water. BRING ON AXEL hahah

But.. but.. but.. but there's nothing to like about T-Dog..
The only reason he's alive is that he passes so unnoticed, that even the zombies can't notice him

Spoiler Below:

Jesus Christ, in the comics I at least felt semi-bad when Lori and the baby died, but holy shit the series almost makes you pre-root for The Governor. Makes you wonder if that was intentional on the part of the writers because I honestly didn't start liking Andrea for some weird ass reason until she was off on her own dodging zombies like a boss. Really makes me hopeful her story will pick up like it did in the prison and she'll become likeable -- because it was only after that serial killer went after her I started thinking she was cool.

You know, I been holding this back for a while, but when I read comments for this show, frankly I get rather alarmed at many of you. I'd say half the people that comment on this show are the kind of people I'd kill immediately in an apocalypse scenario. I very much think of myself as a "Rick" in this world and I feel like I'd be protecting good people by disposing of many of you, especially those who call for the death of children and pregnant women just because they get on your nerves. It's quite alarming really. It seems many of you only value the characters that can "Kill zombies like a baws." Just who do you think it is that washes clothes, prepares food, cares for the children, etc. whilst all these badasses run amok on the walkers? I get the feeling many of you would through your own mothers to the walkers to save your own asses. I'm sure someone will call me self-righteous or some shit but whatever. Doesn't impact me to be insulted by trog's who're beneath me.

@EsseXFactor.. You do remember that this is a "Zombie Horror Story?"...People are supposed to die very horridly......"It is what it is"........"Placing bet's on the person you want dead in the story is no different than betting on a character to survive"... This story isn't real man. "you do know that right?"...
TheMyth
TheMyth - 3/21/2012, 10:39 PM
WhiskeyTango, I'm not talking about people debating odds as to who will die. Me and my friends talk about it each week, "Who do you think will die tonight if anyone?" is a frequent topic for debate in my circle. That's completely different from a post that reads, "Kill Carl I hate him he gets on my nerves." That is a post that says to me, "Kill the child because he annoys me." lol and yes, I'm aware it is fiction, but the reactions that people have to art can tell you a lot about them, and what some of these reflections tell me is that many of these people are appalling and a few are possibly sociopaths.

I'm with you on this EsseXFactor. Also people seem to not realize if you had a show with just Rick, Andrea, Daryl, T-Dogg & someone else there wouldn't be a whole lot of dialogue, much less drama going on. And if people want to accept it or not, this is a drama show with horror aspects.

Thank god. I was starting to fear that T-Dogg was supposed to be Tyreese. I was literally just waiting for an episode to say that the "T" in T-Dogg stood for Tyreese, in which case I would have stopped watching this show altogether.

Tyreese is a must, he was one of the best characters in the comics. Him, Michonne, and Andrea anyway.

Lori was annoying in the comics too. I can't stand her.

Anyway, I'm not exactly looking forward to the prison. The comics got a little boring until the whole Governor thing started up. But there were quite a few issues where nothing interesting happened. They were just TOO safe in there, y'know?

Hopefully the show will make it a little more interesting until the Governor shows up.

Why is it that people seem to think that there isn't room for both T-Dogg AND Tyreese, as if they're only allowed to have one black guy? And even more alarming to me is the popularity of Merle Dixon. He was an outright racist [frick], and people LOVE this guy.

@ EsseXFactor LULZ! oh my god seriously???? i'm pretty sure if this shit were real life they wouldn't be saying kill the kid you dumbass. it's fiction, they grow tired of the CHARACTER. stop trying to sound learned and educated and HUMANE. hahaha good lord get a life.

also, T-Dog does need to go. right off the bat i was like, T-Dog? really? i semi-like his character but the name haha and Tyreese is the most badass mother [frick]er. the gym part in the prison is so awesome!
