Michael Bay May Get His Hands On HALLOWEEN Next

Bay's production company Platinum Dunes are said to be "in talks" to take over production on Dimension Films' Halloween franchise. More past the jump..

Seemingly not content with Transformers and TMNT, Bay might be taking control of another iconic character, albeit a slightly more adult orientated one. We recently found out that Dimension Films' Halloween 3D wasn't going to happen. That planned follow up to Rob Zombie's previous two flicks was taken off their schedule and has been in the ""release date to be determined" drawer since. But now Bloody Disgusting report that Platinum Dunes - Michael Bays' production company responsible for bringing (inflicting on) us other horror reboot such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street - may take over production..

Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report that Platinum Dunes is in talks to take the producing reigns on Dimension Films' forthcoming Halloween sequel.

Word has it that Michael Myers' return will not be in 3-D, nor will it instill the popular found footage model, which was originally being explored for the potential Friday the 13th sequel.

Apparently new writers and directors are being sought, which means that the writing duo attached to the last incarnation, Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier, are most likely no longer involved. I guess any follow up or spin off can't be as bad as Zombie's last effort. Can it? Would you guys prefer a continuation of that story or yet another rebooting of Michael Myers? Or, like me, were you hoping the big lug would have just been allowed to rest in peace?

Oh no! God, please! Bay will NOT destroy one of the best horror franchise, he wont dare to do it! I would rather see some other director make it, like romero or else...

I liked the Friday the 13th remake. The Nightmare on Elm St was "ok". The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake was decent but the prequel sucked. The Halloween remake was pretty good but the sequel was horrible. I'm up for a reboot.

I also liked the Friday the 13th remake. Derek Mears was good as Jason although my favorite will always be Kane Hodder.

The Nightmare on Elm Street was good. I thought Jackie Earle Haley was pretty good as Freddy. Not as good as Robert Englund, but who is?

Honestly I think this is the best thing for the franchise. Personally I like the "feel" of the Bay-produced remakes. Its horror but feels very "clean" and not gritty/screamo horror like RZ'H2. I hope this is a reboot and ignores H2.

Nightmare was great, F13 was ok but it was still way better than the original.

@nick56 nightmare was not great. I love JEH but he had no personality in the film. They managed to make Freddy boring and lame. The death scenes weren't even suspenseful our clever in any way.

I [frick]ing hate Michael bay. Myers it's my favorite boogie man. Someone please stop this from happening.

The original Halloween beats the new version 100-0!
In my opinion only decent horror remake was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre from 2003.
Haley was okay Krueger in Elm Street remake but Englund was way way way scarier and better.

The original Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street gave me serious nightmares.
I were probably 10 or 11 years old when i saw them first time.

I remember waking up middle of the night sweating like hell cause i thought Freddy was ripping my stomach with his blade fingers.

And Michael was just equally as bad with his William Shatner mask.

Dammit, dammit, DAMMIT!!! The reason the original Halloween was so brilliant was Carpenter's ability to make an effective movie w/out excessive special effects!! The story was genuinely chilling & original, & the actors' performances (especially Donald Pleasance) were extremely memorable. Hollywood is crapping on the film's legacy. The only thing Zombie's version had going for it was Malcolm McDowell. Bay would only screw the franchise further.

Who cares. Bay could make a movie where Michael's a chain smoking hermaphrodite and it still wouldn't be as bad as Rob Zombie's films.

@AlexDe I'm with ya. I personally like Myers the best though because he and the mask kept me up most nights. Something about that damn mask drove me nuts when I was little.
