COMICS: Solo GAMBIT Series On The Cards For August

COMICS: Solo GAMBIT Series On The Cards For August

In true Marvel fashion, we have very little to go on aside from the character's name on a teaser and a date, but something Gambit related is coming to C2E2 anyway...

It would seem a solo comic series for the "Ragin Cajun" is on its way this August. Marvel have released the below teaser..

Along with..

Find out more Sunday, April 15 at the Next Big Thing panel, 11 AM Central during C2E2 2012.

And that's all we have to go on. Gambit has been a very popular member of the X-Men for many years, but he has taken a bit of back seat from any major story arcs lately. He recently joined Wolverine, Iceman, Northstar, Karma, Cecilia Reyes and Warbird in Astonishing X-Men however, so maybe this spin off (if that's what it will be) ties into that somehow. There is also speculation, given the black background and style of the title font, that this could be a mini-series that leads to the death of the character. Expect some more info to leak out before Sunday anyway.

I just don't know if a good Gambit movie can be made. You need sex and booze. And lots of it!

Hell yes! I cant express how happy it makes me to see The Ragin' Cajun gettin some much needed attention from the Marvel U...

Definately one of my favorite mutants/characters

Hopefully this is more than 4 issues... Or better yet, they shoudl just kill off Rogue or have her betray him so he can get over her ass and start bein a badass again

@SRS -- that would be Doop, not Gloob. And I won't take any lip about him. That's my uncle your talking about (adopted, of course).

Gambit in in my top 10 personal favorites, such a cool character just sucks that everytime they give him a series it never works, the first comic I ever read was the gambit and wolverine mini back in the 90s.

Also so they made such a huge deal that gambit was the new horseman Death and nothing else really came of it, the only other time I saw death again was in one panel of the messiah complex event.

@SteveRogersSon

If you're referring to Doop, then yes, he's already had his own mini, with Wolverine.

It's odd that Gambit doesn't receive better treatment and isn't featured more considering Marvel considers him to be in their top 10 most popular characters. This isn't his first solo run, but hopefully they do a good job this time. Give him some good writers and artists rather than the B-listers and noobs they put on his series the last 2 times.

God, some of you guys hate Gambit, don't you? I thought Gambit was considered a huge fan favorite. I've always liked him.

Not to be negative but I call 12 issues before the series is cancelled. So some reason Gambit just can't hold an audience.

I disliked Gambit when he first appeared in Uncanny...of course, the entire comic was all screwed up with the siege perilous or whatever, I mean Storm was a kid for some reason...but anyways, I hated his attitude, costume, powers (and the way they remained poorly defined for so long), accent, and was happy when he was outed in Antarctica by Magneto as the one that set up the Marauders and the Mutant massacre.

Anyways, short story long, Gambit is lame, would rather read about real x-men if they are going the solo route (Kitty, Iceman, Cannonball...I just noticed all my favorite mutants left Utopia with Wolvie..I should read that comic...)

Gambit is one of my favorite X-Men. He needs a solo series or more attention in the X-Men books. They better not kill him off!
Playin' for keeps is still playin', mon ami, so take a card...ANY CARD!" -Gambit

Very excited for this as long as they don't try to kill him. I will go on a murderous rampage to off all that had anything to do with it. That is a promise.

I don't think they would portray Gambit's badassness on screen, would be cool tho?)

I hope a solo Gambit movie is on the cards too. :P

I've been a big fan of Gambit ever since I watched X-Men: TAS. Very cool character.

@Ror I see what you did there. ;)
