TDKR: New Pic Of Tom Hardy Looking Intense As BANE

Total Film have just debuted a brand new image of Hardy as the brutal villain Bane from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. The actor also talks about wearing the mask, and his training to get the character's monstrous look..

So how did Hardy find wearing that uncomfortable looking mask all the time?

“It’s not as bad as you might think. You just put it on. Work out where you drool goes. That’s it. Mask work is good fun. This one wasn’t painful; there was the stunt mask and there was the up-close on for the sexy glam shots.”

He also revealed that the secret to getting into Bane shape was “Eating entire villages of chickens", adding..

“When I started I was about 160-something pounds. When I was done I was 190. You lift weights. You eat. You lift some more weights. You don’t run anywhere because if you do cardio, you drop weight. So it’s really good for heart attacks!”

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012.

I'm still pumped that they chose Bane over lamer villains like The Riddler and Penguin.

Seriously, I couldn't stand when everyone was talking about the Riddler, and how the movie should be a cross between Silence of the Lambs and Saw. Bane is the perfect character to end Nolan's trilogy with.

Not really a fan of the riddler either. Kinda wished nolan went with Hugo Strange.

Looking pretty mean! Hardy is one actor who can portray so much with his eyes and body movements if you watch some of his other films. This is why the actor really fit in with this choice of villain, he is able to still act with the mask on and get so much emotion across.

Damn I wish this film was a 15 or 18, he won't be able to unleash his rage like he did in The Take or Bronson :(

Following on from my above post, I so wish this film was a 15 rating not 12a (UK rating), especially after Tom Hardy saying:

"He’s brutal, brutal. He’s expedient delivery of brutality...Anything from small joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. It’s anything he can get away with."

I'm wondering how much of this they can actually show. In TDK they just had to move the camera away on the "Pencil trick" and "scar" scene.

@Xionn

True they didn't show the violence but I thought what Nolan did was equally as effective. He cut to a different shot just as the gruesome violence was going to take place, leaving the viewer to imagine what happened. You're brain is already registering what is going to happen, and then once it cuts away, all that is left is your imagination to figure out how it ended. It makes the movie a different experience for everyone, and I think was a much more chilling way to go about doing things, then showing the violence in a toned down PG-13 level.

I think with Bane it is going to be a hell of a lot more visceral and we will be shown a little bit more, but I hope that he leaves some of the intense images up to the viewers imagination.

Actually I think he is just confused, because he is watching Nolan build a really large straw.

@CovertAvenger I feel like watching Bronson again now :)

@RidiculousFanBoyDemands You have a good point actually. Thinking back to The Dark Knight, on those scenes my mind did start to think about what happened, what it would look like, how gruesome cutting someone's mouth open would look etc. It was actually quite effective. What was also effective was the music Hans Zimmer uses on those scenes.

It's quite amazing that Nolan never saw Bronson when he picked him for the role of Bane :) I thought it was because of Bronson. It was because of his role in RocknRolla.

You should read the article that Nailbiter just put it up. It's a fascinating read, and talks a little bit about the backlash from people regarding TDK violence and how TDKR is pushing the envelope even further.

Also, not only was the intense violence off screen, there were also quite a few unsettling shots.

Like the split second you saw Rachel Dawes get blown up. It was creepy how she didn't even finish the sentence and you saw her hair blow back, and you know she was gone.

Also, Two Face holding a gun to a kids head, threatening to kill him in front of his father.

Even the look of Two Face I can imagine being very frightening to younger viewers.

@RidiculousFanBoyDemands Oh I just saw that post now, that's quite a long article, I might have to get that copy of Total Film. The text is quite small in that article. I'll give that article a read when I can.

I don't understand what's wrong with enjoying both films from DC and Marvel lol, I'm not really a comic book fan as I never owned any DC or Marvel comic books (I had a few Spawn and Mortal Kombat comics though!) but just love all the comic book films then read up all about the back stories / universe etc online. I loved Avengers a lot, but Rises is going to be a film I take more seriously.

The article should be titled Comments of idiotic people complaining about Bane in some way when they probably couldn't care less. With a Batman article above.

@RamonSuarez are you retarded ? Bigger ? No, he was taller. There's a difference. Liam Neeson was epic as Ras but he's an old fart. Liam Neeson is also taller then Arnold Schwarzenegger when he was a bodybuilder does that mean he's bigger than him too ? He's taller then C.Hemsworth too, is he bigger then him ?

Mike Tyson was shorter than Muhammad Ali, but who was the most intimidating boxer through history ? Mike Tyson. People were terrified of Tyson and he was only 5'10-5'11. Compared to other heavyweights such as Buster Douglas, Trevor Berbick, Frank Bruno etc etc...

Tyson was the biggest baddest motha[frick]a in boxing and he was only 5'10-5'11

It's not cool to hate dude.

blah blah blah

This movie is gonna be badass

In the run up to TDK I was skeptical and didn't like the Joker's look... we know how that turned out.
